Except you're not making any connection, we understand what causes red tide. It's microscopic algae multiplying to higher concentrations than normal, thus killing fish. Until it returns to normal, which it will. Its something we've understood well over 60 years.

Here in northern Ohio on the western shores of Lake Erie in the summer months there is a green algae bloom that kills fish

Just had a woman's two nephews die from eating molluscs caught during a red tide, and a sister and another nephew/niece admitted to the hospital, all within today. It's hard to imagine really, you just ate something and boom, gone.
