I whipped up this quick vid to share an example of what structure looks like when it is exposed, out of the water at low tide.
A Sandbar is a big hump of sand, which creates a shallow spot, where waves typically break.
A Trough is a deep spot between the sand bars and/or the shoreline.
A Cut is a deep channel that is carved out straight through the sand bars. This creates a path of least resistance for water to wash off the shore in the from of a rip-current, which is like a small river making it's way out to sea.
