This tall growing Fl native shrub can be used as a hedge or specimen tree in your landscpe. Feed the bees with these amazing blooms. Berries for birds later in the fruiting cycle.

I have an area in my viburnum hedge that died. I was thinking of planting one of these here. I saw on the University of Florida website that they make a "compacta" version that gets 3-5 feet high? Have you heard of that one? I am not sure if the compact version is still considered a Florida native plant.

I had this plant when I lived in Central Florida. I now live in North Georgia. Can I grow this plant up here?

It looks like s.stopper is in the myrtle family which has strong tropical/subtropical roots. Only Myrcianthes fragrans is native to wet parts of Florida, the rest are native to Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru. ... so, it looks like it would get too cold in North GA. Maybe as a porch plant though, since it takes low light and water quite well.

@Grounded Solutions Florida Native Landscapes I had them in containers in CFL and they were very aggressive growers. I have another question. Is it true that these bloom when there is a full moon event? I noticed mine would bloom out throughout the season.

In central Florida simpson stopper blooms early to mid summer when days are long and people are out late. The white blooms may be more noticeable under a full moon and seem like they coincide. Photoperiod or lenght of day is more likely the trigger.
