I remember seeing this on Mantak Chia's chi gung website. He claims that you can use this to strengthen your bones and kidneys and your man muscle (these 3 are related together in traditional chinese medicine 😁)

I don't subscribe to TCM ideas like that, but it is good for body conditioning and blood flow

My experience is primarily with Shorin-Ryu, although I started in Shuri-Ryu, also practice KishimotoDi, and have dabbled with bits and pieces of various other arts
