Never knew this was a thing. Usually when saving snapshots from renders in C4D is default at TIFF. Never knew it was for more than one image. Thanks for the tip!

Ohhhh! This makes so much since! This is why they recommended that I use a TIFF file multiple illustrations. I thought I needed it to improve image resolution. Lol

Why not cover .EXR?

Used this file format for large 20 to 30’ assembly drawings to retain scalable print and graphics. Meaning they would be most accurate to print and dimensioning/review.

This I get it now! Thank you!! ❤

And I understand that a tiff file uses a graphing approach. This is so fascinating. Maybe I'll be able to publish my raster drawings in the future after all. I use WAYYY too much detail for an SVG format. That would take forever to convert. I tried it once and The program kept crashing. Then I tried to simplify it and it lost so much of it's depth and beauty. Maybe it's because I'm self taught and my vector images aren't programmed to make better vector files. I kind of compare vector to glass art. Like layering everything from simple colors in depth. It's one approach but I jump around too much adding things whenever I see fit. 🤔

Great insight into images, TY for making these videos :) Question..Sooo... does this mean when you save a tiff file and re-open in Gimp or other application, you still have access to the separate layers for editing? :)
@GetLearnt3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking them out, happy to help! And in theory, I suppose that's the idea? That's how the file format natively should store and handle your data. It would depend on the editor that you are using to open up the image file, each application may have their own way of opening and accessing files so it is likely going to require a bit of research into how GIMP handles them. :)

@@GetLearnt Cool, and thanks for a quick response. :) Ive recently started learning blender and Gimp and everything is so confusing, little tips like this can help so much, thanks again :)

Interesting, I had never thought about extending these to other formats. Perhaps thats what lies ahead, friend! :)

Exr is for VFX or 3D film production, in short is a high dynamic range file(light steps) that contain multiple masks like alpha(black white) or multimatte(red green blue), and cryptomatte info, is a very smart file.

I guess it would really depend on what you're looking to do? If you plan on editing the images afterwards, it could potentially be a good idea. That being said, I am no photographer nor do I edit images that much so you may need to research further for your specific use case!

I like TIFF because it will not add artifacts to the image when it is saved.
