THANK YOU!!!!!!! Your explanation and demonstrations caused me to FINALLY GET what “voicing” means! YIPPEE!!!! It’s the WAY the player SEQUENCES or ORDERS the notes of a chord!! There are MANY possible voicings for EACH chord!! Whatever order in which YOU want to play the defined notes for a chord is a voicing! However you position the notes in either clef is a voicing! Each voicing of a chord gives a different effect. Some voicings sound plain and some sound exquisite! Now, I’ll bet the sound difference in voicings is EXPLAINED in that part of music theory that deals with harmonies and INTERVALS!! Am I correct????!!!??? I don’t know much about that, but I have noticed that notes played together at certain intervals are gorgeous and the SAME notes at a different interval is blah or yucky!!! 🙌🏾🎉🎊🎇🎆🎉🎊🙌🏾

0:38 *C chord. I’m not tryna be the nail in the wall but figured it would confusing for people new in theory

Hyde Micheal He meant to say C chord but instead he said G chord, I commented because people new on theory would be confused. If you had thought only once before you commented, you would not have commented. Fucking idiot.

I just want to mention, you can definitely repeat notes in different octaves and emit some notes (like the 5th), and the bass note with your left hand CAN be a note other than the root (3 or 5 or 7...), it will just be less stable, and you'd usually only want that in a transition between chords. What determines an inversion is actually the lowest note overall, not (necessarily) only the right hand. Good explanation though.

Ah, so musically voicing is "same but different"? One could have bass, guitar, keyboard all playing C chords, but each with different voicings, to create a fun sound? Even voicings between relative major and minor too?

you can leave the G out because it's the perfect 5th and doesn't contribute to the major/minor of the chord much!

You can leave it out in a 7th, but it's nice to have if you are just playing a triad

I'm confused. Is it a C chord or G chord. If its the same 3 ones its the same chord. I think you just misspoke on second example.

One of the benefits of voicings is if you can reach to do a 9th, 11th or 13th chord...

So basically voicings are the sounds different inversions make?
