In this video, you'll get to know what ADHD is on a whole other level. I dive deep into the meaning behind the name ADHD, the different causes of ADHD, and look at how many people ADHD affects. You'll learn about more accurate names for ADHD, what parts of the brain are affected by ADHD, and the most important thing you can do if you think you have ADHD.
Here are the resources I mentioned in the video.

I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago after 47 yrs of what I could only describe as a very slow car crash. I have learned more in watching 2 of your videos than I have since I started researching ADHD. Can't believe you only have 219 subs. Keep at it cos with quality content like this the subs will come. I started Ritalin 5mg a few weeks ago and have slowly built up to 35mg but as I type I still can't find my house keys lol. Hope this treatment works as it doesn't seem to be having an effect yet. I've been trying to read for 20 minutes a day as a kind of bellwether test but still find myself rereading paragraphs and losing my place on the page. I'm just afraid my doctor will tell me I don't have ADHD and say he can't help me. Logic tells me he will just try other treatments but I just have that nagging fear anyway. At the moment I find myself unemployed with 4 kids and absolutely no qualification to show for my professional life to date, as taking tests and studying is something that requires consistent study and time and you know how hard that is for people with ADHD. I'm lucky as I don't suffer from any kind of depression or anything but I am at the start of a long, steep climb that im quite looking fwd too. If I can only get these meds to help me focus for long enough to finish something.

Health & Fitness Glad to hear you’re working on finding the right medication! I know just how hard it can be to get that dialed in. I’ve been getting treatment for just over two years and I’m on my 4th medication. The good news for you is, if Ritalin doesn’t seem to help, there are others to try and everyone reacts differently to different medications. That’s good you have a system in place to test the effectiveness of your meds. That’s something I didn’t do, but would have been useful. It’s good to hear you’re not suffering from depression as well. It’s really common to come along with ADHD. Keeping a good outlook is essential to any treatment program. If you haven’t done so already, I would suggest finding a good therapist that deals with adult ADHD. The reason for this is medication, even when it works, can only do so much and there is a point where we have to learn new habits and strategies to really help us move forward. There’s a saying, “pills don’t teach skills” and it really takes both meds and therapy to get the best treatment. Another thing that can be really effective is finding an ADHD coach. Unfortunately they aren’t covered by insurance and cost more than I can afford or I would be working with one constantly. I really wish the best for you on your journey my friend!

Thank you for posting this. My husband, who is now 80 yrs old and whom I've known since we were teens, I have suddenly discovered by your post, that he probably has ADHD. There was no support or diagnosis for him when he was a kid in 1955 and moving forward. He has many of these symptoms and has had since he was a kid. For me, now 78 yrs. old, explains why his interactions with me have been so difficult and have affected me deeply. He has found ways to live what seems to be a "normal life" so I hesitate to even show this video to him. The question for me is, how to live better with him.

Thank you for all the great resources! I also really appreciate your medication videos as I’m having trouble getting my insurance to cover any. Unfortunately, a lot of them use lactose as a binding agent and I have a dairy allergy so my options are even more limited.

I learned how concerta works on reuptake! WOW!! Daniel, thank you for doing the research and sharing tips. Many years ago I was diagnosed by a pediatrician who specialised in ADHD at an ADD Family Support Centre. When I met psychs more recently, my diagnosis was criticised, undermined because he "was only a pediatrician". He was much more than that! He was incredible! And he had ADHD too! He knew all about it from a lived experience, as well as learned. He could recognise it in children..and their parents! I am sure it is harder seeking a diagnoses as an adult, because sadly people out there want the prescription for the wrong reason.

It amazes me how in this age of shared information there are still doctors out there that don’t think ADHD can affect adults. Sometimes it takes a pediatrician to recognize the symptoms, as they see more patients with the condition. It’s supposed to be common practice that if a doctor diagnoses a child with ADHD, the next step is to screen the parents because of the high probability of one of them having it. The pediatrician was right to help you. I’d suggest looking for a doctor that is familiar with ADHD in adults so you can get the treatment you deserve. I know it can be a daunting task, but they are definitely out there and well worth the time to find them. I wish you the best!

I was diagnosed with a whole list lol but my main issues are BPD & ADHD have very similar symptoms. My ADHD has been really challenging. I like to know which symptoms are associated with which diagnosis so I can pinpoint my research & recovery on it. I agree the video was the best one ☝️ I’ve seen yet! The only question I still have is which medication would be best. If dopamine is under active, but I’m a very hyper active person … wouldn’t adding meds that speed me up make me more hyper? I’m scared to take anything especially that will interact with my other meds. My doctor isn’t even sure what to prescribe me :/ thanx to the video I’ll be getting my son diagnosed & find him some help. Don’t want him to go through the same challenges I’ve had. Might be time for a specialist for me too! Ty!

I am not a doctor and so what I say is absolutely no substitute for professional medical advice, but stimulants mostly have a calming effect on the mind of people with ADHD. It doesn't ramp us up (mentally). You many feel you heartbeat increase, and blood pressure may also raise some. If you are taking other meds for various reasons, I don't know how stimulants would interact with them. That is for a qualified specialist to determine.
