Okay, so this is a lot more complex then I originally thought xD My understanding of aether before was that it resides everywhere like the force, it is often tied to a certain element, there is unaspected aether (but what it was, no idea) and aether is also called ki, chakra etc.

Great video! Been playing since 2.0 EA and I hadn't really put much thought into these fundamental forces. Or at least we haven't discussed some aspects a whole lot since ARR. The bit about corrupted crystals made a lot of sense, I can definitely remember them being dangerous in Pharos Sirius. One small nitpick though is that "dearth" means a lack of something, while you seem to be using it to mean the opposite, an abundance of something. Thanks for the aetherology lesson! Would love to see a Void expansion or plotline someday knowing what we know now, even if we couldn't fix it completely in our timeline :)

I've only just discovered this channel and have been going through and watching vids. I can't believe I didn't know about you guys before! A great breakdown of aether. I knew most of what was covered, but had actually forgotten about some of the stuff from early game that isn't brought back up frequently, like corrupted crystals actually trying to convert your aether to match theirs. Keep up the great work!

This is the channel i needed... I do my best to absorb as much as I can but I dont even have a year of a subscription under my belt. This vid helped out because when I RP and people start spewing magic words I go blank

A marvelous video. I should add though that the Burn was a result of Alagan technology blocking the flow of aether in the Burn and not truly a result of Primal Summonings. This was from what I learned propaganda peddled by the Garleans to further justify their campaigns to "civilize" the star.

Thanks, and yes The house of the crooked coin seems to be the primary cause however parts of EE2 still state the primal side summonings as fact and despite it likely (read almost certainly) being Solus propaganda it’s not as of yet fully clear the exact timeline of events and where and how the redirection was used be it for Azys lla or other means. These videos are also made under the auspice of mostly in world info and to avoid spoilers and since it’s kind of a big reveal in 3.x I went with the “generally known” truth as a more comprehensive accounting of the burn will come about later with its dungeon video. Wait, is that true? Where is this mentioned? Because I only vaguely remember the msq describing how the burn came about as being caused by primals, but I was also admittedly trying to rush through the story and quickly get to shadowbringers.

why is this channel so quiet? everything else is so much louder then the voices on here. I try to listen to the videos well playing FFXIV but I can't hear them over the game without turning the master volume on FFXIV down to 20%.

Because I was balancing audio on a different system when I made the earlier videos so they sounded right but come across on most systems as quite. If the later ones are I can’t say say for sure.
