Very well explained. I was diagnosed in 2018 (aged 45) with AL Amyloidosis. My blood numbers are in normal range (awaiting confirmation of remission) and I'm receiving immunotherapy. Developments in immunotherapy treatments has been a real game changer. I really hope some progress is made in developing a drug that breaks down amyloid, as although in remission, the problems the amyloid deposits cause are still very much present and very slow to regress.

So sorry to hear that Alan, My husband is about to be tested for this. He was diagnosed with heart failure over a year ago and, all the signs points to amyloidosis. He struggling just to get through the day at the moment. He's only 42. I wish you all the very best.

I just had a friend and coworker die of Amyloidosis. Apparently when the doctor diagnosed him he said there's a better chance of being struck by lightning twice than getting this. Thanks for the explanation of what exactly this is.

My aunt died from amyloidosis and at the time mad cow disease was running rampant . I started studying on my own without any college education how prion, amyloidosis and kuru diseases were all related. I knew that my family history dated back from 5-8,000 BC years into the ice age. Being located into Northern Europe. Food was very hard to grow there so what were they eating? Yes other Humans! This has helped me and others in my family draw a path to the correct immune system diseases.

My grandfather had this and died in the '90s when they tried to use chemotherapy to remove the buildup that they had mistaken for cancer. Basically too much chemo killed him.

My father has this, can practicing a Hypo-caloric (low calorie) eatting, help?, that if you eat less calories the body would allocate less energy to making this amyloide fibrils, and slow the deposits or even give body chance to break down restoring to some degree tissue function, his heart is his main affected tissue, i feel helpless, he cant breath through night as he sleeps, heart has become insufficient and blood load is heavy as his body lays during the nite, reducing his quality of life? Any information i understand would only be educational, and does not replace being attended by his Dr., but he is in denial, any afraid, maybe any insight i can offer as his son can benefit?

For treatment, Indians can approach the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai. It's a government hospital and so the treatment is completely free. Initially you might be running inside the hospital, but after taking a bed at the hospital you will be fine. The hospital has separate department of hematology.

currently, there is no medicine for dissolving amyloid, the only medicine that reduces the percentage of formation of new amyloids in the body is Colchicine. I am 37 years old, I have AA amyloidosis

@@CURIOUSITIZEN i did 4 operations within 2years to remove the growth using some laser operations.....dont want to sound religious or anything but after the 4th operation i turn to god and went to my religion holy place and pray real hard so that it is cured.... thankfully it didnt grow back.....so yeah
