What is an ISDE race and what to expect. Oregon style

So after many many questions about what is an ISDE and what makes it different i decided a video would be a better and faster way to give someone an idea of what happens and what to expect. Of course reference your rules for the race and follow them above what is said in this video this is just a general F.A.Q. type video from an OMRA sanctioned China Hat ISDE
I did my best to be accurate and correct but if I got something wrong or you can explain it better please feel free to add it in the comments so people can learn from all of us that have some experience with ISDE.

Rock on Randy, I love hearing people's interpretation of this extremely unique type of event. This was a great hangout that I really enjoyed listening to...getting off your minute is like getting pitched over to the dark side of the moon! I had to do like 3 videos talking about this thing just to understand it all in my own weird way!

When I was a kid in Tillamook, Oregon we had the ISDT Trask Mountain 2-day trials. If you weren't riding a Penton or a Husky, you weren't winning.

Randy. The easiest way to figure your time due is to take the listed time and add your minute. So in that case, 9:35 was the due time for the 1st guys and you were 48 mins behind. That would mean you are at check 1 at 10:23. At gas I thought your times were off so instead of 12:51, you should have been at the gas check at 12:19. Problem with using the interval is that if you made a mistake on one calculation, it will make the rest of the times wrong too. Just add your start time to the leader's due times. Bogus on the video. Always something...

I rode that race a couple times. I’m not fond of the impound and cold motor start rules. When I rode time keeper enduros (in a different state) there was a 30 minute break halfway through at the gas and you could ride your bike to your truck and take a lunch break . I SDE rule’s won’t let you leave the course and you have very few minutes to get your bike gassed halfway through.

Understood. ISDE isnt my favorite race format either, but it was fun for a change.

Speaking of bike inspections, have you ever been over the sound limit with either your 450 or 250? I was slightly over at the webfoot enduro and I’ve got a stock pipe on my kx250.

No I have never had any issues. I know I passed with my kx250x with the stock system because last year at China Hat I rode the 250x and it was still stock. I have passed several diff sound tests with my Bill's pipe full system on the 250 and my fmf full system on the 450x. I only ever heard of one person failing and that was at this China hat. A huskey with apoxrovitch...or how ever you spell it. What did you do for a spark arrestor as the stock pipe doesn't have one? I used the Fisch Motor universal insert.

@@Randy_Cox good to hear! I think I’m going to put a pro circuit muffler on there. Ironically, I’ve heard they’re quieter than stock. For the spark arrestor, I did the same as you, I put one of those Fisch inserts in there.

@frothol dang not sure why yours came out to loud....maybe NMA has more anal old guys crying about sound levels, because I never had any issues with sound. I have never had a PC exhaust but have heard great things about them.

@@Randy_Cox ya, I wanna say the limit was 98db and I later tested it with my phone and it was about 99db. They were cool about it but most likely just wanted to give me shit about it 😅

@frothol sounds about right. 🤣 Btw I think we like the same bikes as now you have a kx250x and I am about to get a yz125x.👍 Your videos ripping yours around got me all excited to get some small bore 2 stroke singing in my life. Anything I should watch out for?
