Excellent video. I was sat dumbfounded reading through complicated rules and understood the rules perfectly by the end of your video. Big thumbs up !

I watched several videos on how to play Canasta. Your video was the best at teaching the game. You are a great teacher. Thank you!
@michaelferguson84386 жыл бұрын
Anne Marie rules are different for 2 or 3 or 4 or 6 players. Two player is easier to learn. 4 is best to play. On 2 player you need 2 Canastas to go out. Also the melds on table are negative until your 1st Canasta. Deal 15 cards each and draw 2 at a time. Most else same as 4 player. Pagat.com has the best written instructions in my opinion. I play classic not Modern American (ironically classic as standardized in the Jockey Club is the most popular now other variations have fallen much out of favour)

How many points to mell
@8317dh3 жыл бұрын
@@glendapark88 For initial meld on first deal: 50. On subsequent deals, the minimum depends on one's score as follows: Negative score: 15 0-1495: 50 1500-2995: 90 3000 and up: 120 First player or partnership to score 5000 points wins match Point values: 4-7 and black threes: 5 points each 8-K 10 A, 2: 20 Joker: 50 Red three: 100 Black threes may not be melded except in the process of going out. Then 3 or all 4 black threes may be melded. A canasta is seven (7) cards of the same rank with a maximum of three (3) wild cards. This is a MIXED canasta and is worth 300 points at the end of the deal (or hand). A canasta of seven cards without any wild cards is a NATURAL canasta and counts 500 points. These remarks on scoring are not complete. Later, I will try to finish this. Donald

on pogo games we are not allowed to use a wild card when getting the discard pile. you have to of the same card to draw off the discard pile. Thanks for the video. I wanted to make sure I was playing this card right.
@susannaguillory6590 Жыл бұрын
The computer canasta I purchased is different. You only draw one card,and according to your score, you have to get either 50,90,or 120 points before you can even get in the game. You only have to make one canasta to go out. It's fun, but it has it perks. For example, when you have to get the 90 or 120 points to start playing, you may never get in the game before the other team yells, "Can I go out. Especially if you don't pull the jokers worth 50 points ,the Aces or the duce which are worth 20 points. I rarely get dealt spreads to begin with .So I see it's easier in person because there are no requirement points to start the play,and it looks like you draw 2 cards from the deck instead of one. Looks like the meld requirements are the same, though.

Can you pick up a frozen discard pile if you have melds of the top card already laid? I forget :o
@J-Ball7 жыл бұрын
No, you need 2 naturals (matching cards)-wilds can't be used to unfreeze) in your hand and they must be laid after picking up discard pile.

VERY well-explained, and I am looking for a new card game to learn. However, I'm not sure that I would find this game all that fun. I mean, it seems SORT OF fun, but would like a little more strategy, if possible. We'll see. I'm going to look at other possibilities first. Thanks again!

+pnutbutrncrackers The ACBL (American Contract Bridge League) offers tutorial software that teaches you how to play Bridge. This software can be downloaded completely free of charge and installed to your computer. This is actually the way I learned Bridge, and I can testify that it teaches you how to play bridge very well. Note that, due to the fact that the software is _very_ comprehensive, it will most likely take you several hours to actually complete it. So if you are currently busy and don't have a lot of time to go through the software in one sitting, then I suggest you go through it in a similar fashion to reading a book by breaking down the different sections into arbitrary "chapters" and learn a little more day-by-day. You can download the software here: web3.acbl.org/newmembers/free-learn-software If you have a smartphone or tablet, they also offer an HTML 5 version of tutorial software. Although this version is also free, you actually need to sign up for an account using your email address. However, once you are registered, you will freely be able to access the tutorial software as well as track your progress. Although I've personally have never actually used this version of the tutorial software, I'm sure it does just as good a job as the downloadable computer version. You can find the HTML version here: learn.acbl.org Hopefully this will help you enjoy the game of Bridge just as much as I do! And, you'll be a pretty good player right from the start!

Very good video, thank you. I have one question though: If, at the end of the game, both players have 2 Canastas, is it just the first person to get rid of their cards who wins? Or is it the person with the most/higher melds?
