Thank you for making this. I'm Latino, but I grew up in a Caucasian home. All of my connection to my Latino, Chicano, and Mesoamerican culture has come from people kind enough to share themselves and their culture online. Thank you for providing me with this lesson and keeping culture alive and well.

I learned how to cook authentic Mexican flavors in South Texas (Ingleside) while stationed there with the military. I had a neighbor who taught me and also introduced me to his aunts (owned the City Tortilla Factory in Ingleside Texas) who made the Best Tex Mex flavor I have had to this day. It was much different than the flavors of Southern California which was my previous favorite and different to the flavors of Tijuana which I also loved. The flavors matched Harlington and Matamoros, when we lived there, Thanks for bringin a good show to KZfaq, informative, techniques and good-looking food,,, Salud mi Amigo,,,

Carne asada is what you grew up with. Keep the marinade simple and have some tortillas ready to make tacos. The soft ones and some that you leave a little longer to get stiffer and charr. Have some veggies roasting for a salsa, if you have leftover carne that’s getting old use the salsa you made and pour it onto the sliced carne in a sauce pan with diced potatoes. Make some rice on the side and now leftovers seem like a new meal.

I said ok but I thought to myself they real must like their ref tacos . Dont get me wrong I love tacos de carne asada & upto that point that's what carne asada was to me. So I waa like why they making such a big deal for it. When i got there i found out the difference lmao. They had pretty much what you had bu also chorizo & beef short ribs. As far as sides they had the usual rice & beans but also they had macaroni salad, potato salad & cactus salad which was basically pico de gallo with cactus it was really good & refreshing. Oh yeah the beer they had 2 trash cans with ice one filled with beer the other had sodas

Im so thankful you made this video because i have so many friends that have refused to believe that carne asada can mean more than just one particular kind of beef seasoned in a particualr way. I worked in many restaurants over my time with many people from mexico and other hispanic countries, and they always told me what you are saying here, that it can be as ambiguous as how we use the term BBQ. Love ya arnie.
