Having done one of your courses, and planning on doing the mind course soon, I place myself in your care and fully trust your processes. They are succinct and carefully directional. Your YT videos however seem to skirt around the issues, and in this case, I learned more about what ear training isn't.... Not what it is. I am not deterred. You offer well thought out and evidence based material that MUST be done to know what is missing from general instrument training alone. Thank you.

I have searched and tried several ear training techniques. Some barely produced noticeable results to my musical ear. And some have produced small changes. In the best cases, where I noticed small changes, I have to keep on doing the ear training exercises to maintain my improved ear. This cuts into my time to practice my instruments. Ideally, I get what I want from the ear training; then I return to practicing my instrument. But it doesn't seem to work like that. The ear training programs that I have tried (and I am assuming you don't want me to name names) are tedious. They require as much discipline to maintain as practicing scales and sight reading exercises. None of which I am thrilled to do.

Great episode ! Look forward to taking the latest two courses circle of 5ths mastery and the ear training course to plug in more gaps. But it’s also been great for a learner like me to hear the “why” and the wholistic “how” through videos like this as well as the reaffirmation that you can do it. Whoever or wherever you are. 👍

Just learning tunes…hearing chords…I mean these kinds of courses are cool but still….you have to in REAL TIME be able to recognize patterns etc…

I am currently struggling with aural skills 101 in college. Wondering which portion of your site might help me the most? Foundations or musical ear? We’re moving onto chords and I’m afraid, very afraid. Haha

Don't be afraid! Foundations would be the best for developing these aural skills. For chords specifically, you may want to also check out Musical U Membership. There are several modules on chords and chord progressions that would be good for this skill.

@@MusicalU Are beginner skills covered in the membership or would I be better off with the beginner program?
@MusicalU3 жыл бұрын
Hi @@Jaymes27 , Both are suitable for beginners. However the Ear Training For Beginners course provides a single, structured "starter program", designed to cover a great deal in a short period of time. The membership is much more open-ended and flexible. So if you feel like Ear Training For Beginners sounds like what you're after, then we would recommend starting there - and you can continue on into the bigger membership program after if you're keen to continue. Whereas if you already know you're committed to longer-term musicality training, you prefer to "DIY" or choose your own adventure, or you know there's a specific area of skill you want to focus on (e.g. improving your rhythm skills, learning to sing in tune, or play melodies by ear using solfa) then you may prefer to go directly into membership. Hope that helps! If you'd like further guidance please drop us an email on support@musical-u.com and we'll be happy to help :)
