I was not thinking that this video will answer my questions, however the way one questioned and the other answered helped me to fully understand the concept. Thank you.

I spent the best part of an hour trying to understand federation and it was all going above my head until I watched this video. In 5 minutes, I TOTALLY get it! Thanks guys! Great content delivered in a very easy to understand way.

love the video. I found this helpful: "While SSO allows a single authentication credential to access different systems within a single organization, a federated identity management system provides single access to multiple systems across different enterprises"

This is excellent stuff. I've never fully understood the distinction between federation/SSO/SAML/OAuth/LDAP until this videos. Thanks!

Awesome video. It takes a good student to ask a good question, and a lovely teacher explain something that is made so complex in most videos. Thanks to both :)

Hi guys, good job introducing federation in an intuitive and simple way! Just one note: Shibboleth is a reference implementation of SAML (i.e. an actual federation service), so it's not a protocol in the sense that the others in the list are. It deploys SAML (and looking forward OpenIDConnect aswell) to achieve federation. Good stuff!

Wow. Concepts were very nicely explained. Wonderful. I have a question though. I have seen SAML protocol being used to achieve SSO across the internal applications within an organization. Example - The Employee portal, JIRA, IT Helpdesk portal of a company. So does that mean SAML can be used to achieve SSO capability both intra and inter organizations (Federation)?
@hseas37933 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Federation was like a black box for the longest time. Iwas thinking about it like a passport, where each country gives out a different looking one, but we can go to other countries, via standards put in place (SAMLv2)
