I explain, what is a freewheeling diode, how a flyback or free-wheeling diode works its effect, and why it is used. What is freewheeling diode, in Hindi | how flyback diode works.
A freewheeling diode or flyback diode is used in a DC circuit with the inductor to control the high voltage and sparking in the switch during switching OFF of the switch with an inductor in the DC circuit with relay circuit and buck circuit as an example.
How high voltage appeared in the DC switch during switching off is also explained. It is also called snubber diode, commutating diode, suppressor diode, and clamp diode catch diode.

instead of freewheeling diode, if we put a capacitor, will it charge? this way we can harness the collapsing field energy aka back spike or flyback and utilize it for external work?

No, capacitor will charge no doubt, but other components may damage. Further L and C may resonance.

Sir Mera ek saawal hai. transformer 5 Saal se Chalo hai.mujhe abhi 2 Saal ke Liye baand Karna hai.isse transformer ko koi nukshan to nahi Hoga? Transformer 34.5kv ka hai.output 480 hai.

Transformer ko Koi nuksan nahi hoga lekin phir se chalu karne ke liye aapko uska transformer oil filter or change karna padega, Agar Agrawal sir iska Answer deta hai to aap jarur padna.

Due to inductor in load. But if you are talking about inductor of relay coil and non inductor load Then ssr will help. No diode required. I made many videos with different circuit condition.

@@GKAgrawal2 actually my ebike motor kit has no switch so using relay but controller is packed up as I did not put diaod side of relay by mistake...now new contraller I will use but with SSR...I think 3 phase motor controller is non inductive load, right?

Motors have coils inside. And coils has some equivalent inductor.

Yes, losses may be more

Due to core losses depends on Frequency then losses will more for +10Hz supply.

Depends upon use, this is just example to explain problem and use of diode. if inductor is there like in this circuit, then freewheeling diode required.

@@GKAgrawal2 sir one more question if not inductor in a circuit and opened the switch spark coming also, why? While no inductor and no energy need to go some where so no need to spark but also sparking

That is due to the electrical break down of gases between switch contacts during switch opening. This phenomenon is used for arc welding of iron rod with low voltage circuit.

Triac are used in place of switch in the critical applications. However, I told in the video that problem is less in the AC circuit.
