The Soviet Union actively explored the Arctic. Many civil and military bases where created on the islands and shores of the Arctic Ocean, and provision in large amounts was brought to sustain their existence. The North was actively developed before the collapse of the USSR... What is happening there now?

You did a great professional work Elina. The only critic i have about your documentary (but i understand your reasons) is that it is missing the historical explanation on what Soviet era industries caused the materials pollution. Your documentary starts by showng the pollution without any explanation whatsoever on how it got there and what mistakes were made in the past. Of course your documentary would have become political, and probably those who commanded you for the task did not want that from your documentary. But for random viewers like me it is incomplete. You wouldn't document the reconstruction after a catastrophe without first talking about the cause itself. But i understand why you couldn't.

I'm in the Yukon. I have cleaned up some Canadian sites. As a child I lived in a small village. Radio Moscow was one of the major SW radio stations. It was the cold war. The bombers and missiles would go over our heads. I laid in bed, sometimes too frightened to sleep. I wondered whether there were small boys in Russia who also had that fear. Thank you very much for showing me Russia - I have watched some of your videos. You are a master at communication & I appreciate it immensely. New word for you - Massi - used by the interior indigenous people in Canada & Alaska to give thanks.

This is true. But the larger problem is that even when the little people in various countries want peace, they still have to convince their arms merchants who profit from war to not be so bloodthirsty. As long as there is profit in mass murder, immoral people will continue to scheme and push for it.

Essentially, any good life Is about 95% maintenence, isnt it? Sure, its never fun cleaning up someone else's mess, but I'm sure this documentary will aid in motivating others to join in in the maintenance and renewal of this region. Good luck with those efforts. In some years, after all debris is removed, and the place is given time to heal, the beauty of mother nature will inevitably flourish. Like this young lady you introduced who moves forward, despite a setback, to volunteer and to dance⚘️ This is engaging, professional, visual storytelling. Well done Eli. Your talent continues to flourish as well. And what a vision you are in the traditional turquoise dress, if only for a moment... 🎉(i know, im hopeless😁)

Hi Eli! What you had in the Arctic was a beautiful experience and one of great civic sense and environmental respect. All that metal can be reused for the same villages that are nearby after they have been regenerated. Furthermore, this expedition of yours showed us how beautiful the Arctic can be if visited and the people who live there. In fact, to survive, the Arctic first needs to be known and then entice people from all over the world both to discover it and to establish social and commercial relationships with the people who live in those places. I hope that this video serves to raise awareness as many people as possible and become aware of it both in the Arctic and in the whole world. Thanks for this video and I greet you with a hug.😊

Wonderful people these volunteers. But the area needs a more serious investment, loads of power tools (angle grinders I guess) and either a local facility or massive barges to transport all that scrap metal to a factory where it can be melted. The landscape looked unreal, like a scene from the Vikings series❤ Amazing videography Elina.
