What about words that mean more than one sense? Example: vibrate. It can mean either the sound produced by vibration, or the sense of touch.

Lev Peslyak vibrations are more physical and auditory (touched, heard) then they are seen. Although It heavily depends on the description / surrounding text.

I feel like the answer to the question could be sense of sight. Because I envisioned a beach on the rain, because of the sea broke in a long line which would be the part when the ocean lands onto shore, then adding in the rain to me it a darker rainy settings. Then adding a loop with the repetition of slipped back down the beach to come up again in a long line in the rain, but that is at least what I interpreted, anyone care to explain?

The use of imagery is not only for sight, imagery can be used to describe any sense or feeling but not emotions.
