It's a Tongji Standard Chinese Movement. It will have either 19 or 21 jewels (artificial rubies). They are a fairly robust and well made movement and these movements are found in your medium to better-level fakes. As long as you keep it dry, get it serviced every five or so years, it should last you quite a while. You can read about the movements here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_standard_movement BTW...if it was an automatic Miyota or Seiko/Epson movement the brands would be clearly stamped on the bridge. On your bridge you can see the stylised "T" for Tongji. Only the super quality fakes ("AAA") use Japanese movements or even the low-end Swiss movements.

Serves the guy right for thinking he was getting a Moonwatch for $500. That's as much of a con as the person who sold it.

An Omega fan can spot that on a glance. BUT. if the dial didn't have the silver rings on the subs and the symbol was painted instead of applied. It's a really close looking knock-off. Mechanically, it's not a chrono, and not a handwind. The printing on the back is also a tiny bit too bold.

I have about the same fake (actually found it in the electronics dumpster at work, some sales guy probably got it overseas and trashed it for some reason, it works just fine..) but it has date and day indication on the 3 and 9 dials. That's a clear giveaway, but then the dials actually do some proper work! :p I'm actually impressed by the build quality even if the movement is a standard one, (bigger than this one, fills almost the whole case) but of course you should always smile and tell people it's a fake if they ask.. :p

I got one of these from my dad . Mine a fake omega 007 Omega Speedmaster. My dad got it as a gift from my bother when he come back from over seas. He told my dad he knew it was a fake when he got it . I think my bother pick it up for about $20.00 on a boat My dad said do I want it . it's not even a miyota btw it's a seagull 2813 the cheapest automatic movement available, you can tell by the rotor and the plastic framing around it. Also it's perfectly OK to KNOWINGLY buy a fake watch, it's not OK to get scammed or to scam people selling it as a gen.

To be fair Orient have now moved away from non hacking movements. All Orient have seiko+ quality lume, in house movements that are hackable, handwindable and quick day / date set. Some may say the movement architecture of the new Orient movements are a mix of old and new but they are solid workhorses and use seiko diashock as well as seiko magic lever on their automatics (pretty sure the patents have expired). If you take the F6922 movement as found on the mako/ray2 and the Kamasu plus many others it's an in-house movement that took them 7 years to make first came out on the mako2 /ray2. The only Orient I own is a red Kaasu JDM I usually don't like day watches but since its a JDM version you can choose between days in English or Japanese (ancient) characters and that just looks amazing especially with the red Dail. Ask Japanese sellers nicely and they will send as a gift so no tax. The bracelet is nothing to write home about but everything is in line its over 41mm, 22mm bracelet/ strap size but for a dicer it's nice and thin at around 13mm. Sapphire glass, it has no chapter ring but it suits this watch as the Dail is amazing especially in red or green. No play on the bezel 43 hours power and I can defiantly say the F6922 is much more accurate than the NH35 and alot of the higher end seiko movements. Unregulated on the wrist I get +2 consistency and being super lazy this lockdown it has never once stopped, it has the most free turning bi directional rotor of all my watches. You can dress it up for any occasion. Only 3 things bug me about it. 1. Bracelet has hollow end links and a pressed clasp, common on Japanese watches but I would have been willing to pay extra for a nice bracelet. 2. For me it's OK but the crown is a little bit on the small side. 3. The worst thing about Orient is parts they will only sell you bracelets and bezels things like that. Im sure you could get an aftermarket crystal, bezel but that's about it. Can't buy any movement parts or movements at all and for a 200 pound watch from Japan Orient would charge near enough the value of the watch for a service or movement replacement. I guess if you have a friend in China or Vietnam then 30 pounds or less is OK for a service and new mainspring. But saying that people who have had a watch with this movement I have never heard of them getting it serviced even after 7-8 years of it being their only watch worn regularly. I guess maybe buying a mako or ray2 for under 150 dollars on sales just buy one for donor parts. You can get some good deals but when buying a watch make sure you bring a 28,800 bph watch with you as most copy's are below this (my Chinese seagull 2824 clone that I used in a build (£40) runs so much better than my freinds new watch with a real ETA 2824. Alot of fake rolex daytona are using seiko meccha quartz chronograph movements sweeping seconds but not at 28,800 But expecting an omega speedy for 500 dollars. Moving country's (its a watch not a sofa) unless it's stolen by a crack head who is so stupid he does not check the price no way in a million years that guy sold a sub 50 dollar fake for 500. A word of advice for any rolex buyers, they have fake rolex movements now but they are easy to spot as they will have 2 levers by the balance wheel for regulating and beat rate. Real rolex movements don't have levers to set these. Also alot of good fake tudor that have fake markings on a 2824 clone. Nearly all of the 2824 clone movements have dates maybe a few don't and maybe a few have managed to delete it but If you come across a tudor with no date and when you pull out the crown and can feel a (ghost) date complication move stay well away. If you can't afford your grail watch and something comes up that is too good to be true it is. Buy a nice homage or something else and just save up. The only kind of fake watch I own is a Hamilton with a broken movement (guy sold the movement to a watchmaker.) I got all the bits for a very low price and put in an unmarked ETA clone.

Luckily the movement in the Speedmaster prevents people from trying to make good replicas. You'd have to replicate the movement in order to make a good fake, which I don't think will ever happen. And using a real 1861 movement would be incredibly cost prohibitive. The Speedmaster Professional is worth the price of admission. They're not exactly cheap but it's a very fun watch to own.
