Great video, but such a tip of an awesome iceberg to the book. I am almost through "Irish Witchcraft from an Irish Witch". such a well written foundational piece. As someone so hungry for basic information, this book has given me exactly what i was looking for to build my practice myself. Lora always speaks authentically. So refreshing to be challenged to do the right things instesd of encouraged just to find the feel goods.

I'm really glad you talked about crystals and how they aren't ethically collected. Not all witch craft requires crystals! Think back on how the Old Ones practiced. They didn't have access to crystals. They had whatever was around them, and the magic still worked. Use what you have! The magic is still there!

My grandmother was a staunch Catholic. She was the liturgist at our church. She taught me to meditate and pray when I needed answers. She believed that "the little people" helped Mary change the seasons. She had an alter to Mary, used Florida water to anoint her icons, knew what saint to call on for every specific problem, Made St Brigid's cross on Imbolc (St Brigid's day) swept the floor with intention to clear energy and honored the seasons of the liturgical year at home as well as in church, In short: she was a witch. But would only ever called herself one as a joke 😄

Absolutely! We have many black Irish people here, and many more descendants of Irish people worldwide who happen to be BIPOC. Anybody who tells you this is a problems is completely disconnected from our true heritage.

chosing a stone... walked along a beach. found a fulgerite - lightening glass. Washed by the ocean, formed by sand and lightening. The stone is not 'pretty' but it does work as a battery. fits in my palm. Thank you for doing this kind of information course. Being in the US some of the information is so scrambled, bashed to fit, spindled, compacted to fit in generic 'witch' books.

The only way to be irish is to live in Ireland. Irish genetics are just White-European. Being White-European doesn’t make you more entitled to practice the culture. In fact POC in Ireland are more familiar with culture and language than anyone with “irish genes” outside of it.

I think digging into your roots is important regardless of what “white European” place you live (or in my case Canada).. my grandmother was from Ireland and passed on many gifts (energetically and physically) that I hold dear. I believe my deep culture roots come from Ireland, as the land I live on belongs to the First Nations who lived here before me. I would say I have much to learn about Irish culture, and immersing myself physically is on the list after this pandemic. I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting my other Irish family, as war tore us all apart, but I am nearly 100% of Irish descent. I respect everyone’s journey to remember who they are as we all grow together ✨

Timely reminder regarding not using yourself as the power source for healing and blessings. As time has seemingly sped up a bit, and we are being bombarded with the awareness of multiple needs each day, I’ve found myself just sending out healing and blessings without first grounding myself in alignment with my tradition and stepping aside with only the person or situation in mind - and I wonder why I am drained and things go awry in my life even if the person or situation is helped. Thank you Lora ! ✨ Very much looking forward to the day I can splurge on your 2nd addition. Thank you so much for all the content that you’ve made available. Here’s to the day I can balance our energetic relationship of give & take. ✨✨✨ I have sent folks to your work in hope of helping them and you.

I appreciate your clarification about witchcraft (a practice) versus Wicca ( a religion). It seems similar to yoga, perhaps--a practice that is sometimes affiliated with religion, but does not have to have a devotional aspect to it. I came here after wandering through a variety of videos on Eastern practices. One featured a lady discussing Daoist Mysticism and she began the video by emphasizing the importance of people reclaiming their folk traditions from the conquest of invading religions and ideas. I suddenly wondered why I wasn't embracing my own heritage esoteric practices. Eastern Mysticism has a lot to offer but it's about time I reclaimed some of my own ancestry. Thank you so much for this, I look forward to digging into your various videos and book! 🤩

My OAP mother-in-law is the same but she's also a real ostrich when it comes to what she doesn't want to hear! I was not raised to any denomination, or religion, so I'm already a black sheep in-law to her. It does make me laugh when she says she's "lighting a candle and saying a wee prayer" for my hubby attending interviews, our son doing exams or whatever 😊 I'm tempted to tell her she must be cursing her son in the same breath as he's stuck in the same job he's been trying to escape!

At the moment, I am "mind blown". Internally, I have always felt this deep connection to something, beyond myself. Around twelve years or so ago, I explored Paganism and Witch Craft. The authors of the books (Vivianne Crowley and Scott Cunningham for example) I purchased and could not finish reading, had me lose interest of this path, all together. While I willingly let go of my interest, there was no denying the Celtic ancestry, passed onto me through my grandma which I feel so strongly. This evening it was like my spiritual guide snapped me back into a certain reality and I crossed paths with you and this video. Your book, is the book, I've been wanting to read. I thank you. One thing I struggle with, is being around people whether I know them or not, makes no difference and feeling all their energies at once, feeling and knowing how they feel. That is only one of the many experiences, I embody daily 😬

Thank you so much for this video! For viewers living in settler states such as the US and Canada, a further note of caution about ethically sourcing tools: if you are not Indigenous to the land you are on, before doing anything, please take note of whose land you're on, seek out the voices of the Indigenous nation(s) of that land (official websites, social media, etc.), find ways to amplify their message and combat erasure, and learn what they are asking of settlers (if this isn't clear from their published content, ask -- but generally returning wealth and land to them are almost always good things). Learn some of the basics of their cosmology so that you can understand what it might mean for you to take anything (more) from the land where you live -- for some folks, the people and the land are one, i.e., the land IS their body and they ARE the land, so a settler taking from the land without permission is akin to a bodily violation. Also consider the relationship of your ancestors to the land and its people, and how your ancestors may have benefited from (or even directly participated in) genocide, as well as the ways you benefit from it today. If you don't know this info, research it to the best of your ability. Follow the lead of Indigenous people on what, if anything, is ok for settlers to take from the land, and how to do so respectfully, in right relationship to the people/land. Do not trample on Indigenous sovereignty. If you have any uncertainty, leave stuff alone. This may seem extreme to some, but, as I believe Lora says in another video, "what you feed will grow". It is an especially bad idea for something that will become a sacred object in your magical or spiritual practice to be rooted in a violation of consent -- just think how that foundational consent violation might ripple through all that you do with that tool. (This is just to expand on the point already well made in the video. I also realize Lora touches on this issue in various other videos, blog posts, etc.)

On the topic of witchcraft on a budget: Consecrate a kitchen knife, dinner bell, salad bowl, and wine glass. Now you've got an athame, altar bell, offering bowl, and chalice. Find a stick on the ground, cut it, strip it, sand it, stain it, and Consecrate it. Now you've got a wand. Get a white bed sheet. Cut it down, hem the edges, draw on whatever patterns you want really thick in white crayon, and use a hair dryer to melt it into the fabric. Stipple on whatever fabric dyes you want with some kitchen sponges, then do the rest of the steps for the dyes you're using. (Usually a salt water bath and air dry iirc) now you've got an altar cloth. Stick incense and burners are a dime a dozen.

I have just finished "Irish Witchcraft with an Irish Witch" and this video was such a great summary to a very complex book. To me, this video, for which I am immensely grateful, has brought more clarity about the term draoi as a practitioner of authentic Irish magic. Thank you for explaining with such clarity the foundational aspects involved in practicing Irish magic, the need and the must to learn the lore, become conversant with the culture, with the history, and learn the language (I'm obviously paraphrasing, but this is what I got from your message on this and on other occasions) Still on a personal note, this video landed in my inbox at the time of questions rising and a bit of self doubt about my path, the path I'm on- namely, Irish magic rooted into Irish spirituality. With great relief and joy in my heart, I realized that the work I do and all the resources I commit, are all effort aimed in the right direction. The wee hours spent reading the lore, listening to your youtube videos, and filling up binders with notes as I take classes at IPS- are all necessary pieces for true growth on an Irish magic spiritual path. Go raibh mile maith agat agus slàn go foil!!

This is Texas and I’m probably be roused from my sleep by a neighbor’s new truck but I love the idea that something is afoot so I’ve settled in to see what you can teach me. No pressure. 🍸

I kinda feel into this, i remember feeling like i was being watched as a kid, it wasn't until i started working with the morrighan( the goddess who can't to me in meditation) that i understood why. My family on by Dad's side is Irish, the dunnigan family goes back in Ireland as royalty from the tuath de dannan. The family was very well documented. The wogan family came from Picton Castle in Wales Ave there was a famous battle there at the castle that involved my family and a goddess though my memory slips and i can't remember which one. These deep roots is why i feel called to Irish witchcraft.

Thank you Lora ❤️ I'm Erin Sullivan from USA. I always felt a strong emotionally charged and spiritual connection to Celtic paganism, as if it was part of my past life. So happy to find your channel and learn more ❤️ and you are so interesting to listen to!

I started reading your irish witchcraft book today and I've not gotten very far yet, but the part in the beginning about feeling the magic when you're in ireland so perfectly describes how I felt when I visited and why I've been dying to come back. just something about the air there is so different from any other place I've been.

I think the broom closet came from the movie practical magic. They need a coven so they come out as witches and one of the people they come out to says “she came out of the closet” I think it’s a reference to that specifically but I could be wrong

I love you talking about how there is no extant pagan beliefs yes, only little things. My family is from Inishmore but my nana would pull the wooden spoon on ye if you called her a witch. Also from the younger generation on tik tok there's a lot neo pagans who aren't Wicca but still use the wheel of the year and appropriate from celtic culture. Are there any ways to combat this, especially since most of them insert Roman gods into the holidays which is a complicated thing in and of itself. But I've suggested adopting some ways to honour celtic gods and heritage and I'm called a gatekeeper. Obviously the celtic path is very open but sometimes I just want to scream that it isn't for them. Your content has brought me such a deeper knowledge instead of family just saying "oh it's just one of those things" thank you!

My mother is white and my father is African American/Native American. I have just recently found out that my mother had Irish ancestry(RIP). I'm interested in learning Irish witchcraft. As a child I always liked wearing green.

I found out about a week ago that I’m mostly Celtic, but thought I was mostly Italian. Any tips on how I could dive in? I’ve been practicing for almost 20 yrs but I’m excited to hear about my origin. I had orphans in my family, hence the reason I didn’t know my true origin.

i’m mainly irish, and i feel so disconnected from my irish heritage and culture, i’m hoping to reconnect through practicing. although many of my family were brought up catholic, they all had ability to heal, use herbs, see saints and beings like banshees.

wonderful video! It really resonated with me. Do you have some suggested books that might be a good jumping off point for Irish Witchcraft, aside from your book, which I have already ordered? I'll definitely dig into your videos, but reading is my favorite past time, so those resources would me much appreciated as well. :)

I have a bit of Irish ancestry as my dads side of the family are all descendants of the Irish and my moms side of the family is partly descendants of the English and the Irish. My last name is Irish and I live on an island called Newfoundland. The population of Newfoundland used to be almost half Irish. The Irish began settling here in the 17th century, up until the 19th century when around 35,000 Irish people arrived here. I know that these reasons alone may not be enough to really be connected to this practice, but I do feel pulled towards Irish folk magic.
