My great grandpa and family came from Greece. My dad and grandmas last name were thanos before they got it changed. Never knew my grandpa or grandparents on mothers side, but My parents/grandparents didn’t expose me to the culture and even language, so here I am learning everything about Greece on my own as I grew up!!! Can’t wait to go their one day, explore, and feel connected!!! My wife is from india and she’s learning as well!!!

I love Greece! My moms maiden name is Patronis. So i'm half Greek but know almost nothing about my heritage. My moms side became too American 😂. I love my country but i need to get in touch with my Greek side as well. Anyway, Gabe is my favorite travel vlogger. He always puts out superb content and is very consistent. Other bigger channels can take breaks but still get a ton of views when they return. Gabe deserves a lot more than what he's getting

Hi Gabriel. Just a note re the dry stone walls. Apparently on Kythnos and Andros Is the angled stones were used to save on stones and the upright slate stones between the angled ones are called Virgin Mary’s on Kythnos Is.

It is peaceful but there aren't many facilities city people are used in. There aren't any hospitals, many shops, many schools etc. and they can be rather empty during winter. I believe it would be better for you to come only for vacation.

@@eleniasimop so if you get very sick you’ll have to take a long boat trip to the mainland for a hospital, what happens if there is a storm and ferries are cancelled?

Your love of Greek islands is very infectious. Although its a pretty big island, have you ever thought of doing the Samaria Gorge hike on Crete? Looking back at your Crete videos I cannot find a visit to this gorge- forgive me if I'm wrong. I think a video of this hike from you would do extremely well. But please, no sandals for this- you need hiking shoes!

Hello Gabriel, if u Will go back to Crete one day, i would also recommend The St. Nicholas Gorge af Zaros (from The water bottles). It is smaller than samaria but from my own experience very beautiful, tranquill and nice to walk! In Total this hike would take 6 hours in total. Best wishes to u and enjoy ur island trip!

Gabriel. WOW! What a guy:) Craig the curious to learn. Yet doing badly right now needs an island similar to the secret one you discovered somewhere I can drink plenty of water eat good meat and play with my skipping rope and sand bag for fitness also to run about. Because where I live in England is being repopulated and my training as near as fighting a sabre tooth tiger I need to get the humans are quick to weakness. Is there the place maybe a powerful island a spiritual one to pilgrim to. If it's in the book can you let me know. Because between us I'm about to go for it asp low season. Good films. Nice swim:)

In many villages postman leaves everything in a particular central coffee shop and everyone knows it and takes letters/etc. from there.

Gabriel greek villages & towns were biuld like that, buildings so close to each other cor they were built by the venitians when they occupied the Agean sea and mainland greece in the 1200's ..crete ,,Rhodes ,, mykonos ..patmos,, chios etc were build by the venitians. Genoese & the knight Templars..

I wonder how they manage the utilities (water, power, sewage) in these old Greek villages.

Water carrying ships,power plants that run on diesel fuel,every house has a cesspool which is drained by a cesspit emptier and later all sewage is loaded on a ship to be taken to a small island (Psitalia) near Attica.

@@mesaekso1443 So, water is brought in by ship? But how does it get to all the houses? Is there a water pipeline with a pump? Or does every house have a water tank? Also, concerning the sewage, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psyttaleia is an interesting island! Is has Europe's largest sewage treatment plant.

@@PaulaBean Actually most islands have water pipes that are connected to the mainland, or create their own drinkable water with the use of modern desalination facilities (usually islands that a further away). The bigger islands like (Crete, Rodos etc.) have also their own water springs. Carrying water with ships is an old method, that isn't used anymore in Greece.

He's going to islands in Greece that he's never been to, let alone filmed and shown to his audience on KZfaq, before. Same old negative and complaining kind of comment. Please go to new places in your mind, where there is a positive attitude. Seriously, where we go in our minds is much more important than anywhere we go physically. We often get stuck in a rut in our minds, and get stuck in negative attitudes. We need to break free and break out of that.
