Born and raised in Binghamton, was a City Councilman here in the early 2000's. This video (sorry to be so critical) is frankly a waste of time. Generic voice over with with simple DOJ, IRS and state statistics. Try harder guys.....

The stats are always fun to look at, then go down Liberty Street, now, then realize what it looked like in 1990. Then think, what areas look like Liberty St in the 90's now. The East side is changing. I was doing the asbestos air monitoring for many of the homes demolished down there. I closed Calvin Coolidge (even pictures of Asbestos sealed in concrete under the boiler room floor at the direction of the architect's, not the asbestos designer), had areas in BHS, EMS, WMS, WW, BF and TR sealed off for asbestos contamination. (Mario did a great job when he took over facilities for the district.) I graduated from BHS, Last class out of the old EMS, born at Lords and now on council in Great Bend and chairman of the sewer authority there. (2015 waste water system of the year, 2023 waste water operator of the year) Don't get me going on the sewer plant over in Vestal, I've done enough work over there and know too many contractors that worked over there in the last 20 years. We did our upgrade in 2009-2013 to the same exact treatment process that the one in Vestal had, that they used until the upgrade to fix the plant. We won an award and they well lawsuit and a new project to fix it. the funny part, the morning of the blow out I had the EPA over at the old Tichner site by the new boys and girls club and he got a call and told me there was a crappy situation at the sewer plant in Vestal. Near the end of the George Harvey Justice building renovation there was also a crappy situation, the sewer line from the courthouse broke in the last area to have asbestos removed. The DEC did not want to deal with it, "asbestos contaminated crap" and the DOL was stuck holding a crappy situation. Then Sherriff Harder, the liability he has caused the county. Deputies watching prisoners removing asbestos, and other hazardous materials when informed prior not to do it.

I'm passing through, exhausted. Almost everything on Google/KZfaq is "Binghamton is full of great people!! Very high crime rate, 1 in 120 chance of being a victim of a violent crime, but we have great people!". I mean, wth... a 1 in 25 chance of being a victim of property crime too?

Moved out a decade ago and haven't had my radio stolen since. People are nice though. Do they still have crackheads meandering in the middle of main street in broad daylight like zombies?

Binghamton is LAME & boring and has way too much crime & drugs. There's nothing good to do over here and the job choices are LAME since the factories went out of business. There are way too many student housing and those with nowhere to go are couch surfing or living in hotels, their tent, or their car. Binghamton Central School is one of the WORST public schools in the state. The grass is greener in Scranton, Pennsylvania than it is in Binghamton.
