Teacher Ahmed Karat from Maydaan Archery Australia shows us the traditional Kepaze Training method that is foundational for traditional archery. Notice he trains his right and left side to help with overall balance and equilibrium. His club is www.maydaanarchery.org.au/.
He also incorporates 'breathing' and a form of thikr or remembrance into the routine as was done in traditional Islamic archery.

Hey I have been watching your videos for quite some time now. I'm a 14 year old who is very interested in learning Turkish style archery, in person, student to teacher. I know you live in Australia but if you somehow happen to know of such a place I'd greatly appreciate it. If not, then I would be elated if you made some more videos on Turkish archery.

You say so many things. Philosophical level. True depth. If you don't mind I would translate your teachings about technique and practice methods and thoughts to Hungarian and link your channel to those specific video's description. I recently moved home from Scotland to Hungary. I met some Turkish historians and archers on the Kurultaj tribal assembly and I started learn thumb draw and Khatra from the KZfaq. No help from others than every day people who do archery for recreation or sport or martial art. I am really grateful for your work! Plus we have something commune. Spiritual side is in the centre for me. Archery is something built up on spiritual roots for me. You told that once in a video Mohammed prophet said the Heaven is the land between archer and his target. I felt the very same ways. Without you I wouldn't know we have this thing commune with Mohamed prophet. I am a catholic by the way. I never start or finish training without praying first, and I finish with prayer as well. I think we are two of a kind. Except my main thing is target shooting between 180 and 300 meters.

Hi, what brand turkish bow is this? The draw looks very long. If I pull back beyond my cheekbones like you do here, I get a draw length of min 34. But my alibow turkish fiberglass has a recommended max draw of 29" and stacks beyond that so much that 30" is the limit. The tatar makes me stop at my earlobe for fear of ripping of the siahs. So I'd really like to know what yours is (or if you just have shorter arms than me 😉). Thanks a lot

Should we always do kepaze training with fulldraw, or what if we do kepaze with heavy bow but we cant do it fulldraw?
@ArcheryforAll
@ArcheryforAll 3 жыл бұрын
Ricky, in my view best to use a lightweight bow for kepaze, the whole idea is getting correct technique which is much harder with a heavy poundage

Assalamualaikum. I'm a 14 year old living in NYC. I am deeply interested in Ottoman archery. I've been working on kipaze training and can comfortably pull a 60lb bow. However, I find it very difficult to learn traditional Ottoman archery without a hands on experience, teacher to student. If someone could inform me of a place where I can learn traditional asiatic archery, I would deeply appreciate it.

for an adult I'd say no more than 12-14#, needs to be light so you can do many reps with it and not get tired.
