Little background: Mas Oyama was his japanese name, after leaving Korea, during WW2. He was taken in by the Oyama family. He taught the two brothers, Shigeru and Yasuhiko, who split from Kyokushin in the early 80s, to form World Oyama Karate. We have a school here in Atlanta, but their main Honbu is in Birmingham AL. Tadashi Nakamura(Oyama's prized pupil) was shot in the kneecaps, in NY, for leaving Kyokushin and starting World Seido Karate(Hence why Honbu of WOK is in Birmingham, instead of NYC where they started.) It's quite a complex lineage, and now there are about 7 diff forms of kyoukushin, all which started as schools directly under Mas Oyama. The most well known are IKO1 and IKO2, run by Shokei Matsui, and Kenji Midori, respectively. Both laid claim to be successors once Mas Oyama passed away(under strange circumstance) and both are of Korean Heritage. Best not to bring this up, if you choose a Kyokushin school.

There's also a small World Oyama dojo in Nashville. I trained there for a while. It was awesome!

My toxic trait is that I fully believe I could complete the 100 man kumite if I had like 3 months to prepare.
@JoesGeekShow9 ай бұрын
That would be an incredible feat since only about 15 people have ever completed it. But hey why not give it a shot? Especially if you have an opportunity.

Maybe after atleast 5 years training u could have a small chance :D

I’ve trained for many years. I’ve met 2 men who have completed it. Shihan Francisco Filho and Shihan Judd Reid. Both of them took nearly a year of time to prepare.

Iv done karate at a young age 7 years old then went back to it when i was 15 wado ru and got black belt and was teaching for years then started mixing the arts going to different clubs and styles and in 2003 started mma but was still loving karate and it stood to my advantage because i liked fighting and sparing, then in 2010 started training kyokushin and ashihara and training with valeri Dimitrov in Bulgaria and its a very practical karate for club and street and believe me i know, Oussss from Ireland 🇮🇪
