I actually intended for this one to be a quick upload while I worked on other projects, but then it turned into...well this! If you're reading this, I hope you liked it!

It's important to note that this game does get significantly darker than games like Undertale or Mother. The subject matter isn't as messed up as Lisa but it is still very grim. If you are easily affected by themes such as depression, anxiety, or suicide, it may just be better to pass on it. If you can handle it though, it's easily one of the best RPGs in the last decade.

Very good point Smith! I’m glad that there’s also a warning at the beginning of the game to hopefully avoid anybody sensitive to those topics from playing it.

I would argue it is much darker than Lisa just due to its incredibly graphic nature, especially in the hand drawn photos and cutscenes in the game.

I am so so SO happy this game was able to come into fruition - the amount of gameplay and story you can get out of it is insane!! Even though the main story only takes about 20 hours, there are many secret bosses and options left to explore! Truly a work of art. Great video!

Yeah there is a whole area called the Orange Oasis that is entirely optional. It's full of mini games and enemies and even a unique boss fight I won't spoil.

+ the other route that leaves another 20hr + focusing in the real world events that are many takes a bunch of time , i rushed them thinking it was lineal as hell but basically the game never told me "hey , instead of walking into the next block to deliver the photo book ,¿why dont you go explore the entire map with all these events and quest?"

I'm just amazed that products as amazing of these use Rpgmaker as the base engine. There's nothing wrong with stuff like Off and To the moon which use its base features but it's really cool how much effort people are willing to put into the engine to make it suit their needs.

Fun Fact: I’m actually making an earthbound inspired game with some friends. It’s super early into development but the main plot is about a student in a high school who sees an alien and goes in a quest with some students to prove that it exists, all while trying to complete their goal before a school gang gets to it first in hopes of taking over the world

"Waiting for something to happen?" How haunting. This game isn't for everyone. The horror elements and depressive themes can be daunting, but it's absolutely worth overcoming. And it's a real good modern RPG. If you have the interest... watch it, play it, enjoy it however you can.

To me omori definatly needed the time and work for to be the game it is today I get that it originally was suppose to come out five years earlier but honestly I’m glad it took 6 years. With such a heavy subject matter and such things take time also omocats art improved so we got a even cleaner art style

I imagine the absolute look of surprise that early backers had when their game got delayed into what they could only assume was dev hell, thinking “oh yeah this is a scam gr” and then seeing in 2020 all this hype and talk about Omori being an awesome game. I bet that probably made at least several backers’ days when they found out the game they backed is now out lol

This was helpful, I’ve been seeing a bunch of Omori stuff recently, and had no clue what it was. Also, if you want to play another really good rpg maker game, I’d recommend Grimm’s Hollow. It is a little dark, and is about death, but it’s also super cute and funny. It’s about this girl named Lavender, who wakes up in the Hollow, and is quickly informed that she is dead. Basically, when you die, your soul decays, and all that’s left is your spirit, which decides what happens to you when you die. If your spirit is too strong, you become a ghost, and will quickly become violent. If your spirit is too weak, you become a reaper, and must reap ghosts of their extra spirit energy so that they (and eventually you) can pass on to the true afterlife.

I'm glad I discovered this game, I'm glad I played this game, I only knew about it for a BIT when I was a kid, and it was amazing from beginning to end. Plus, the music is amazing too. As for the fandom, It hasn't become a cesspool *yet.*

Absolutely amazing video, brief enough that it doesn't spoil the game but enough to intrigue viewers to actually buy the game. I enjoyed this game so much and it helped me retrospectively understand some of my previous mistakes and mindsets.

Omori made me cry so many times. Mild Spoilers below: Even the first time you look through the unfinished photo album i just teared up from the pictures of them all together with Basils notes even though nothing bad had really happened to the group.

Great video! Def gonna use this on my friends or newcomers on the fence about the game. It truly is an almost perfect masterpiece, my first playthrough was 35 hours and I just started a second one.

Yeah Toby might be considered overrated, but he’s “overrated” *because* he is amazing at what he does. And hearing Toby took part in this makes me extremely intrigued. I don’t really take part in the Earthbound or Undertale fandom, but (due to my friends) I am really into Homestuck... I can’t wait to see this!

I was so happy when I saw it on my steam recommended list on new year's I've been hoping to see it released since 2015(?) but didn't really think it would tbh this year all of my Christmas plans were put to a halt due to my getting very sick so this thing really made things a lot brighter for me in pretty bad times
