These processes, pultrusion, pull-winding, and lamination, offer many different possibilities to meet a wide range of customer specific design challenges, and are capable of producing very complex profiles. Exel Composites specializes in these continuous manufacturing process to produce composite materials.
These continuous manufacturing processes provide benefits including repeatable quality and cost-efficient volume output.
What is pultrusion? What is pull-winding? In this video we show how these processes work, from feeding reinforcements to cutting the new composite to length.
The pultrusion process results in composites with unidirectional fiber alignments, and can includes mats and veils for desired structural, mechanical, and aesthetic properties.
Pull-winding is similar to pultrusion, with the addition of cross-wound fibers (also called reinforcements), in addition to unidirectional fibers.
Continuous lamination produces thin, wide laminate sheets that can be spooled for delivery, or for further processing.

This continuous lamination is applied in manufacturing satellite rockets ?

Hi, probably not. The production volume of rocket fuelsage is not that high to use the pultrusion and also the quality of the finished material is not sufficient enough. In this case you would want to use automated prepreg laying machine or winding of a tape on a mandrel. The curing process for such high end applications should be done in autoclaves to achieve the best fiber/resin ratio and little to no voids in the final product.
