The spot gold price rallied all week to new nominal record price high levels, closing just under $2,200 oz. In a minute we'll look at where this rally might go in the short and medium through the year term.
The spot silver price also gained off the lead of gold, moving well over $24 oz to finish this week.
The spot gold-silver ratio stayed relatively flat regardless of gold's headlines, closing the week at 89.
That will be all for our weekly SD Bullion Market Update.

Agree but silver should be at least 100 by now. If it goes to 200 tomorrow I would not be a bit surprised. I hope it doesn’t. Need more shineys.

My newfound hope in this space is the arbitrage at the Shanghai market that is currently paying 10-12% HIGHER for physical silver at the moment … They claim silver , like gold , in the physical form , is MOVING EAST .

Mining stocks are cheap here. I know you sell bullion, but to disparage price performance of miners is biased. I own both physical and miners. Miners will outperform Gold when this reverts to the mean. Gold IS money. END THE FED.

Stack physical gold (and silver) as wealth INSURANCE, buy commodities (food, land, real estate, etc.) as investments, and only speculate a bit with some mining stocks. At least that is my approach. 👌🏼

As for silver, I expect that those - not least in China - who currently are moving disposable savings into gold, will proceed with putting disposable income into silver. That will become - interesting :)

gold going up is a double edged sword.. it's exciting seeing gold hit all time highs.. but if it goes bonkers that means the dollar is losing value.. which means were on the path to hyperinflation.. those buying into the A.I. hype will be destroyed.. so keep your head down and keep stacking fellow holders!

Another great presentation, thank you James. Of particular interest to me is what is going on in GLD ? Year in year out GLD holdings have pretty much mirrored the gold price itself which is quite logical but over the past couple of years or so there has been a growing divergence which borders on the jaw dropping. So what is going on here ? Is gold being loaned out and if so to whom ? Once loaned out is it gone for ever or must it be repaid ? Could it go down to zero over time. I understand a lot in the precious metals markets but in areas like this my knowledge is somewhat flaky !

That happen on 1 January 2023 as part of BIS Basel III The GHOS announced in March 2020 that the implementation date of these reforms, which were originally set to be effective at the start of 2022, was delayed to 1/1/23. Gold has been on par with the US Dollar for over a year now.

It means any entity that wants to be recognized as holding "the safest asset" can now do so with gold, not just Dollars and bonds. It's less about gold stepping up to the pinnacle of security, and more important to note the Dollar losing trust.

Tier 1 means gold is now collateral on balance sheets of banks at 1:1 ratio. Before if you had an ounce of gold it was 50 cents on the dollar collateral.
