Did you guys watch the entire 40min?!? You beautifully insane desert roses! You are my new heroes! By the way, if you seek more information about my videos, you can always become my Patron and have access to extra information I don't usually put on videos. Here's the link to my Patreon: www.patreon.com/ArithHarger , I always have to cut a lot of content, but this time I was too enthusiastic about this subject and lost track of time.

Very compelling and well thought out. As a Lokean myself I see a lot of pagans (and especially what I would call "fundamentalist" heathens) that try to paint that black/white, good/evil dichotomy on Loki, Jormungandr and other liminal beings, and I knew from my experience how far that thinking is from hitting the mark, but never had the words to explain. Ironically, as a former christian, I had the same blind spot towards members of the pagan community that identified themselves has Luciferian or Satanists - you've given me new insights into my own gods, as well as the twightlight gods of other frameworks. Thank you!

Yes Dualism is indeed a problem deeply rooted in our collective consciousness, and when we come from Dualistic religious backgrounds we have the tendency to bring that line of thought into pagan spiritualities and religions.

Nocturne Red yea and no. I’m Luciferian, and Heathen, and many other things. Some Satanists and Luciferians also follow pagan paths, some don’t. Depends on the individual’s interpretation of various ideas and ideals.

@@jackjohnson2309 i heard about different "churches" of satanists and luciferians, but isnt they work with character from avraamic religion, so in my eyes its cant be together. Im myself not satanist nor heathen at that moment, just want to know more about alternatives
@jackjohnson2309
@jackjohnson2309 3 жыл бұрын
Nocturne Red again, that would depend greatly upon the individual. Most Luciferians don’t “worship” Lucifer, or even view the Christian model of Lucifer as “real”. Lucifer is used more as a symbol of enlightenment, and freedom, similar to Prometheus in Greek mythology. Lucifer is essentially symbolic of the pinnacle of what man can be, very closely tied to the ideas of gnosis and apotheosis, or enlightenment in general. Satan is a bit different. Many are “atheistic Satanists”, who similarly don’t actually believe in the literal entity of Satan, but rather as a symbol of adversarial might, human carnal nature, etc. and those philosophies are perfectly compatible with most pagan traditions. There are, however, “theistic” Satanists and Luciferians who literally worship those figures in one way or another, and view them in more or less the same way as Christians would, as literal deities who represent “The Devil” of Christian mythology. These folks aren’t likely going to be pagan in addition to Satanist or Luciferian.

Fun Fact: In Zoroastrianism there is prophet of Ahura Mazda (the main god) that was said to have expanded the earth with a magic ring and dagger in order to make more room for humanity. In Fargad II he is said to have come thousands of years before Zoroaster... his name was Yima! Such a close resemblance to Ymir!

In polytheists/panetheist religions, there isn't any supreme deity. It's cos these religions were destroyed in the West, this concept crept in. Normally, anyone can have his OWN main deity, whom he'll place at the top. For him, this deity is absolute. But it's ONLY for him. Here in India, probably the only surviving ancient civilisations, there are countless different sects each having a high deity of it's own. Maybe that deity has no real significance in the myth, but for that sect, s/he is everything. The reason is simple: we are as individuals very different. Some maybe very loving and kind, some wrathful, some artistic, some introverted, some extroverted and so on. Each is supposed to choose an archetype deity (forces of nature, thought form, energy) based on his or her character trait. In fact the person doesn't even have to choose most of the time. Somehow the he'll get introduced to the deity if he's seeking honestly. This is why it's often said "the gods choose the seeker". Now the problem with monotheism, or a system that puts one deity on top, is that if a person doesn't really find THAT specific deity attractive, he will just ignore the entire system. Or he'll just have a superficial devotion which is mostly out of fear. Cos of Islamic and christian invasions this has crept into Indian general consciousness too. Unconsciously they're practicing these faiths. Only a few serious seeker truly understand.

Thanks for this video Arith. I had often wondered about the connection between Greek and Norse mythology after the first time that I read Snorri and he describes a brief history of the Norse tribes migrating from Asia Minor. Thank you for the card that I received today on my return from work. When I saw it and read your greetings it made me fell a very blessed man to have such a good friend. I have a suggestion for a topic: Ancestor worship by the ancient Norse tribes. There must be some form of such worship when we see the elaborate burials that were performed.
6 жыл бұрын
Yes! You received my card! I was afraid it would be lost in the way. Can't trust Portuguese post offices :/ You are right, there must be something related to the ancestors. Sometimes in my videos I give hints of that because the cult of the ancestors is scattered and in archaeological findings we don't have much. We have the Dísablót and Alfablót, private/domestic cults of Frigg etc. but it would be an interesting idea trying to pick these little scattered pieces and form a video. I'll try.

I really appreciate your honest approach in all of your videos!!

I'm doubtful that you'll see a comment so long after the post, but this is one of the best explanations of any pagan or shamanic tradition I've heard or read. Insistence on a dualistic perspective is very limited. We are. That's it. We're a discrete part of a massive integrated system. Denying undesirable traits leaves our weaknesses out of sight. All of your points are accurate and not overly dressed up. Love it!

I understand you 😊 And huge respect to you for sharing this and daring to talk about it 👍 When I have to explain my faith myself, I only say Asatru as it can be difficult enough to explain to the person 😊 but I would like to be able to be completely honest with people. When I say that Loki is one of the gods I understand, what you are talking about happens. Then people tell me that he is evil and a cheater. And I get scared and say "no, he's not mean to me" and here people shut down completely. So get to make them happy I say "Thor is also one of the gods I invite to my blót" But then it comes. Blót is also a "bad" thing in today's perception? But yes, 1000 thanks for making your videos I feel we practice religion / faith / living a way ,a lot alike 🍀 År og fred

In Ásartú the existence (and its necessity) of Chaos is perfectelly accepted, the divine Order came from primordial Chaos. That means the Chaos isn't understood as "evil" or something similar, but neccesary in the cosmic cicles. However, it's totally unrecommendable to pray this chaotic forces or even more if you pray for Loki, the Supreme Lord of Chaos. The reason is because when you performance a blót, you are intechanging energy and power with the beings that you are offering. The food or the drink that you are offering is not the actual sacrifice, but a mean, a bridge between you and those beings. You actually are sacrificing you will and effort in order to support this beings and, in the same way, you receive something from them. When you performance a blót in honor to the Aesir or Vanir, you are giving your will and energy with the porpouse of support them in the fight against the chaotic forces, so you are contributing to the cosmic order. They also give you their blessing, is a "gift to gift" game. On the other hand, if you performance a blót in honor of the Jotnar or other wild spirits, you are supporting the chaos and you don't receive any gift from them, but a curse. Of course the Chaos and those beings are necessary in order to establish a ballance in the cosmic circle, but Do you really want to attrack chaos in your life instead of order?

I became Asatru a couple years back but feel it's more animistic in my mind. So I wasn't afraid of the 'dark' gods. I feel a deep connection to Angrboda due to feeling mysel a 'mother of destruction' as I dealt with a lot that I don't want to go into here. But also, Loki too seems a side of me I could connect to as you try and do right, feel the injustice, TAKE a moment to have a fit at injustice and all goes wrong...And then his desire to fix. Your explanation also touches me where you think in terms of accepting chaos as a necessary balance of all that is in nature, our planet, our lives...our universe. So true. I love your sharing, thank you so much. I recently became a patron on patreon, because I love your work. I'm pagan and atheist, but do not feel tied to blend or tie into just one. I see the gods and goddesses as aspects of us and use them and their storeis to self-heal. I'm definitely into earth based spirituality, as seen in atheo-pagan mindset. But I also believe that rituals and religious ceremonies are a ncessary part of ourselves and will speak to the gods as IF they are real/even if I don't believe it. It's an acknowledgement of the need of our minds to connect with each other through ritual and spirituality (even if spirituality means accepting the essence of all that is) in my mind.

Well done !! Wonderful videos, much appreciated ! There are certainly verre pervasive influences from the dominant philosophical and religious traditions of the modern day. I have seen this in, especially American Asatru.. I no longer refer to my practise as "Asatru".. just the old ways. Religion, is only one aspect of our ideas about reality, the world, universe, how we should conduct ourselves, how we should live. Much of the old ways are, have been with us.. as an expression of our true nature, never minding what religions are in the high seat. The old ways to me start with my parents, and the threads continue to go back from there, eventually arriving at the Viking times, and , long before. ALU **

Thank you for this presentation and sharing of your thoughts, Arity Harger. You are "growing on me". You are stimulating me. I am grateful for this, because it helps me to feel More Alive. Thank You. While listening to you and admiring the smooth flow and surety of your speak, a thought came to me that: In the biggest sense of Order, that I can imagine, there would be included Growth Of Individuals (Toward more Spiritual Things Being The Best They Can Be) and this Order is provident, productive and protective of this Evolution. Supportive of More and Better. More and Better Goodness...with a resultant reduction in "badness". I believe that "Lucifer" advocated total freedom of Individuals (and societies?) that undermines and eventually disrupts certain levels of Order... before this is Earned. I also believe that the "Highest Level Of Order" is beyond any damage caused by the practices and expressions of premature total freedom...the freedom that cares not about consequences. This "Highest Level Of Order", long in being developed by CREATOR and with much trial and error, finally became just about PERFECT and became the Source Pattern by which all "Lesser Realms Of Order" are compared. I believe that there is no "chaos" in the Highest Level Of Order", except maybe a token example, well contained and kept, to remind this Highest Order of the Reason for It to be in the first place. "Total Freedom" eventually is Earned, from which some level of Godhood does begin. Yes. I do fear chaos. It seems too close to mindlessness and heartlessness and nothingness. What Good is that? "Good For Nothing".

I really love your videos so much. You have so much information to share and you also use all the real terms and names as they should be used. I have asked before but I’m not sure if you saw it. Do you follow the path of the Vikings, Nordic spiritual practices? Also I’d like to know what you do for solving because it seems to me that you must do something in the teaching world. Again thank you for the amazing videos and all the information you share. Great work and I really appreciate all that you do

Yet another great video, thank you. This view gives more sense to the Continental Germanic branch of Heathenry. I would love to see your thoughts on that one too.

THank you! Oh yes that would be an interesting subject to talk about. Sometimes I speak about certain germanic tribes as you will see in my upcoming videos. I do find the germanic sources very important for a variety of reasons, one of which is the fact that the germanic cults spread to Scandinavia and changed the entire religious background and brought new gods. Continental Germanic paganism in many aspects is the roots of Norse paganism.

Congrats on 2k+ by the way! Edit: what books would you recommend regarding Rokkatru?
6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! hehe, well to be honest, and this is strange to me as I consume books all the time, but I haven't read one single book about Rokkatru. I'm not even sure if they exist because I've tried to find and I just can't find a single book about it. My knowledge of Rokkatru comes from personal contact with people who have this spiritual path and that's about it, that's why this video is much more my own interpretation rather than supported by a more academic resource, because in academic there's nothing concening this because it's a contemporaneous spirituality and we sill haven't religious studies about it.

Arith Härger fair enough! It sounds pretty interesting, a very different take on the Norse traditions to Ásatrú. It could probably be applied to many of the European pagan traditions.

Dr Mahlek bro for resources on Rokkatru you may wanna check out Edred Thorsson- he’s very prolific there. Not on KZfaq I don’t think and I’m unsure if he wrote a book on it but he’s got websites on it.

You have perhaps afforded the best interpritation and explanation of chaos and the perception of evil being necessary in keeping the balance, while observing that said chaos is not always an evil. Excellent comparison of other pre-Christian religions and traditions being manipulated to follow a common monotheistic theme that is repeated often in the Neo-Religions/Paths/Systems. You are definitely on the next level while others are playing the same tune, just with different instruments. I am thankful that I have found your channel and look forward to your future uploads.

We are all trying to reach something. We are all on different levels or knowledge, and I think it's important we share our thoughts so others may make their own comparisons and evolve on their own. It's important sharing knowleding, ideas, concepts, so we may all have a share on the process of evolution. Thank you very much.
