My neighbour (around 70 years old) is a bee keeper and one time I (17 at the time) was there with my father. A bee started to fly around me and I started to freak out. The neighbour said "In your life you're gonna be poked by something else than a bee." And everyone around started laughing including my dad. I told my sister about that and she said that I'm too sensitive. I still don't know why we live in a society that is normalizing verbal sexual assault. That is not okay. If women can control themselves around a person they find attractive why can't men do the same?

Pornography sets a bad idea of sex in young people mind, making them think of sex as a competition rather than a moment of sharing, and the problem is that sex education in school is just plainly bad if not completely unexistent, so most of the people(especially non straight) learn about sex through porn, which is bad

It just felt more intimate in a way...It gave me this sense of listening to a real person instead of just a talking head on my screen. Rape is something I just can’t take. Like I’ve heard women I’ve talked with talk about their experiences with it and it’s just honestly seems worse than murder for some reason in my head. To think that happens in the world makes me want to do anything I possibly can to prevent it in the future. I think I’d sell my soul to stop it Edit: I was really venting and didn’t think this comment would blow up. Of course I know that murder is horrible and I really understand it’s something that is unbelievably prevalent that needs changed also. It also happens to be something that I feel equally in regard to anyone. I didn’t mean that rape is worse but to act like rape and prevention pales in importance nowadays is wrong and some people just don’t know. The world just plain needs changed for the better. Also know I can’t cover my entire thought process and what I said in passion of the moment completely but I definitely welcome the discussion. It’s something that like murder, I think could be changed and prevented if there was more of a realistic proactive effort to promote that change. And not just for this context. Let’s just agree that rape and murder are incredibly horrible. In my opinion, it doesn’t fully need to be compared because they’re both things that affect people in unchangeable horrible ways

Assault is another thing that can be easily missed and disregarded as one’s fault. Not only for women, but for men too. In fact, a better name for sex is intimacy. You should never feel like it’s your “duty” to please him/her, both should always have their voice heard. It can be an amazing tool to bond with your significant other. It’s a precious thing that shouldn’t be thrown around, especially without your consent.

Man the assault question hit home. I could see/feel the emotion on their faces. Also the girl who mentioned coercion I totally feel for. I had something happen to me when I was 14. I was dating a guy and I was hanging out with him, my friend Emily, and her bf who were in another room. We had all drank a little which I didn't want to do but my mom was an alcoholic so I was used to seeing it around which made me more willing to try it. I got way too drunk barely even drinking anything and I was halfway passed out. He basically took my pants off and had sex with me. I told Emily about it and was scared to tell anyone else. I didn't want to be called a whore or I didn't want anyone to know I drank. I thought people would say it was my fault for drinking so young and that I somehow asked for it. I don't drink now as an adult but I wish I would've had someone I could've told that was an adult. I'm thankful I didn't get pregnant by him though and I really feel for any women who do get pregnant by someone who assaults you. I'm so sorry to any of you that went/are going through that. Nowadays (15 years later) that guy who did that to me is hooked on heroin, in and out of jail, has a kid who he isn't around, and who got in trouble for stealing things from his "friends". It's interesting to look back on who he was at 14 and where he is now. By the way anyone that reads this that needs to talk, I'd be more than willing/happy too listen or help in anyway that I can!
