SIP, short for Session Initiation Protocol, revolutionized telephony when it was introduced in 1999. It is the core of most VoIP technology today.
SIP trunking is what allows businesses to make phone calls, conduct video conferences, send instant messages, and distribute media through the internet. It replaces the need for physical lines.

Hey, I want to check do we really need SIP gateway in place, if there are legacy SIP devices (without IP) are on premise? or SIP trunk can support those as well.

Hey there! This will depend on the make/model of your devices to identify if the PBX can support them. We recommend reaching out to the hardware maker to identify the ports that it requires and the codecs it supports.

Thanks for information, but I have a question, can we login a voip provider(i.e Fonial) and make calls programmatically using python or another language?

Can SIP be installed on all PBX, or only IP PBX?

Great question! SIP can be installed with any PBX, allowing traditional phone system users to enjoy many VoIP features. Some PBX setups may require what's called a Session Border Controller (SBC) device in order to enable SIP trunking, but our team can help you find what will work best for your business. Thank you, very informative. But please, try to speak more calmly, you sound like you're trying to fit a 4 minute video in 2 minutes. This is especially distracting for non-native English speakers :-)
