I am a Korean Christian. What you said is wrong. Systematic racism is not existing in the USA because the law and data shows that skin color is not the criteria for social advance at the American society. We, Asians, are the race most victimized by other race, especially by the blacks. I, still believe that Racism is good for the identification to find who you are. Some race failed to show the real role model for their race. But they are continually believe that they are living under systemic racism, while they are occupying more advanced position of the society than the race bigger than them. Blacks hold more favorite position than Hispanics. We need to find the right identity in God, and should overcome victimization. At least we should find the right moral and philosophy for better society because racism will stay to the end of this world. Racism, as Korean -American, is not always bad as long as you find the right identification of your race.

Like what u said,see our people way back then family's were separated from one another. Mistrust among blacks is very high for example U can open store in our neighborhood do very well but a black open store he will suffer loss,the people won't support him they prices too high ,give him bad name, destroy property. Black get people get high positions they changed color🙂 they no longer black they become white in their mind's,this hurts my heart because u made it up the ladder of success and forget about your people that need your help. Our race is many but Father's an Mother's are not living in same house hold together sad many single Moms raising girl's and boy's that's a hard job for a woman. Yet we live on hoping and praying things will get better in Jesus mighty name.Amen

From a theological perspective diversity in unity has little to do with skin color. It means we can have diverse thoughts and doctrines as long as we agree on the fundamentals: that Christ died for all humanity's sins (including slavery) and that in Him we have true healing (aka reparation) and reconciliation. Can I get an amen?

The people 'selling and buying' this 'systemic racism' narrative. What do they have to say about 'the black caucus' in our Congress? Can we have a 'white caucus'? How about 'BET black entertainment television'? Can we have 'WET' white entertainment television? How about 'affirmative action'? Can we have 'white first' preferential treatment quota's? How about 'white only' colleges? We have 'black only' colleges (HBCU). For over 50 years America has already tried to deal with 'balancing the skin color race deficit' by pandering preferential treatments to 'the black community'. That has not worked. In fact, it has made things much worse! Pandering preferential treatments even more is going in the exact wrong direction. It is pouring gasoline on a raging fire burning out of control. We never should have validated a divide and pandered to it! Now that divide DEMANDS MORE AND MORE AS IT GETS WORSE AND WORSE...We are going in the wrong direction.

May I encourage another thought? Our country was founded on the organic laws which are Religion, Education & Morality. Interestingly enough, those may also serve as the foundation of Christianity as well. However, when one of the three are reduced/removed, the remaining two suffer and are also reduced. Provided We truly wish for unity, whichever plan we choose must rest upon the three equally. Only then will our plans succeed. God Bless Us!

Right. So because I was born with white skin, I have to feel a certain way and do certain things, because of things done by people with skin like mine in a different place and time... Waitasec. Isn't THAT institutional racism? You're asking me to bear responsibility for things other people did in the past, while not being willing to take responsibility for current actions TODAY. That compassion you speak of came very naturally to me when I was young. But every time someone calls me racist, it shrinks. Good job.

@AveolarD exactly which privilege is that? Is that the one where I have to compete for anything I get, rather than checking the race box, and letting affirmative action hold the door open for me? God has blessed you Tony and may he always share his wisdom and guide you. Years back I traveled from China to America and i sat next to a Muslim man. He was the nicest of persons and I remember thinking I could happily live next door to this man. We talked for 8 hours and his message...he simply said "the Christians are in our way, the Christians must get out of our way". I remember thinking "we are the way" but today how can I be so sure? I am a brown man and I grew up with racism in a white world so I know what that does to you as a person. I hear your message, you want the white man to get out of your way. What about racism Tony? The last person to disparage the color of my brown skin was a black man, here near my home in Fort Worth and not long ago. I fear anger and hate will shape black people into the very thing they despise. What about the Muslims Tony, based on your logic we are in their way.

@Omyzell

@BrotherofWord You are correct. All of these were past policies of systemic racism, but we are still dealing with the aftermath of all of these policies that were put into place. There has been no huge reform that has been implemented to correct these policies. As for current racism that is still in place, recent studies have shown that "ethnic sounding" names on job resumes to this day STILL receive less call backs even though the qualifications/experience is exactly the same. Also, there is still inequality of treatment from police and from the criminal justice system against African Americans. So, there are after- effects that have never been addressed from these policies have been implemented years ago, but we still have discrimination in the hiring process, unarmed African Americans being killed in the streets for non-violent offenses, unequal prison sentences for crimes committed. These are just to name several.

@BrotherofWord Agreed. That was the past and the origin of certain laws. But is it still systemic racism or systemic injustice? Just call the laws unjust. @@philosophyze Why does it matter if injustice is used in the place of racism? Particularly if the injustice is because of race. It is okay to discuss cultural issues in the church. The Bible gives us examples of cultural issues being addressed. The Grecian widows in Acts, the Good Samaritan, the woman at the well, and Paul's public rebuke of Peter in Galatians. God created and sees all nations and it's okay to talk about it. If anyone can have the answers to what's going on in our world it's the church, but we can't be afraid to have difficult and uncomfortable conversations. We can show the world how to love each other as detailed in 1 Corinthians 13. Being patient with one another, kind, not boasting, not being rude with each other, rejoicing in the truth, etc... There are black people who won't even consider church because the Bible was used to justify slavery. There was literally a negro Bible with passages removed so that slaves would not be inspired to pursue their freedom. We know that slavery was in the past. Christians who are black are past the negro Bible, what we're having a hard time with in the current time is white brothers and sisters asking us to keep our pain out of the church by calling it race. We do not expect our white brothers and sisters to feel guilty but rather listen, mourn when we mourn, examine their hearts to see if there is any offensive way - not dismiss the racial issues and injustice. This way we can model reconciliation and the world will see our love and know that we are Jesus' disciples.

@Quigle- Dorf Black people are still trying to pull themselves up from the after-effects of those policies. Sometimes people make these policies seem like such a long time ago, like it was ancient history. My grandparents, who are still alive, were denied a place to live in a white neighborhood after my grandfather got back from being a Navy veteran in WWII. So, since he wasn't able to purchase a home in the neighborhood that he originally wanted, the value of his house is much less than the $1M -$1.5M it would be worth now. Having wealth withheld from you like that will have major impacts on future generations down the road. So, even though African American women are statistically the most educated demographic in this country, they are starting almost entirely from scratch since, as a whole, there was no generational wealth for them to inherit or pass on to their familes. So, even if you want to make the argument against that, studies have shown that African Americans receive harsher sentences for the same crimes commited by other groups. Good things or wealth have been withheld from good, hardworking people trying to make smart investment decisions and the penalties for making bad decisions are STILL more severe than any other group. That doesn't sound like things are fair or equitable. It appears that African Americans born after Reconstruction, after Jim Crow, and yes, even after the Civil Rights era inherited a life that wasn't fair or equal from the very beginning.

@@Omyzell Honest question: How come everyone else has been able to pull themselves up but black people are still excused from things that happened generations ago? The Irish bounced back the same generation. Japan bounced back after one generation. The Jews bounced back quickly. Germans bounced back in like ten years. No offense, but it reminds me of the same argument people use for Africa when they say, "Just give them time to advance." Like, really? Africans were there for 160,000 years before white people ever existed. How much time does a people need? Do you know how fast Thrace bounced back after Rome collapsed their entire civilization?

You express a great sentiment but unfortunately it runs contrary to what the LORD Jesus predicted in Matthew 24:10, 12: "And at that time many will fall away and deliver up one another and hate one another...And because lawlessness (wickedness) is increased (multiplied), most people's love will grow cold." Paul the apostle also writes that in the last days men will be lovers of money, pleasure and SELF rather than lovers of God. People will hold the outward form of religion while denying the power of it (2Timothy 3:1-5). Think of the outwardly righteous Pharisees who persecuted and, out of jealousy, were a driving force in the crucifixion of Jesus.

This is such a hot topic I'm trying to listen to both (biblical) sides. This video only talks about past systemic racism and does not mention any current legislation that discriminates. If you want to bring up the police officers sordid past, let's not forget about the churches sordid past as well (basically branching straight from pagan traditions.) Old can be made new. Aren't we not suppose to let any root of bitterness grow? Reform can and has happened. The idea of catch up also doesn't make sense to me as a second generation immigrant. It simply does not take that long to "catch up." My grandmother came over as a teenager with two toddlers, speaking no English, with nothing has they were fleeing from war. They were not given handouts and they lived in poverty. But she took whatever job she could to provide. She's now a manager at a packaging plant. Both my uncle and dad went to college and have held down a steady jobs since graduating, while growing families and owning homes. And this not an exceptional story.

A child who has emotional trauma due to having an imprisoned parent is current. How will that trauma manifest? Anger? Hopelessness? Poverty? Crime? That's current. Redlining currently affects black neighborhoods and their property values as well as access to whatever systems funded by tax payers in that area. J j respectfully there are also many successful and unsuccessful blacks who are not hurting from racism thanks in large part to the efforts of the true body of Christ which has led the way in many aspects of reconciliation. We also have anti-discrimination laws in place which render any perceived systemic racism virtually powerless. What is really holding unsuccessfully blacks back today is personal decisions. Statistics show that regardless of race there are 3 choices that can keep pretty much anyone out of poverty: 1)Finish high school 2)Wait until you’re at least 21 to get married and have kids 3)Keep a full time job/career There’s your 3 point sermon (all points correspond with biblical truth 😇).

The Bible is clear that if we honor God we will be blessed. People who choose criminal behavior will be punished. If blks choose productive behavior we will see good results. We have even seen this with the First Step Act. If we can encourage better choices, there’s no system in place that can stop us whatever color our skin may be.

What I'm seeing since I've been trying to understand all of this is that it's untrue in any circumstance to group a bunch of people together and make statements about their experiences. There is diversity among different ethnic groups and there is diversity among the same ethnic group! It's a divisive tactic. I did not know about redlining. Thank you for that information. Fatherless homes has also been looked at as a huge reason why many struggle. But again, this isn't always the case and fatherlessness should not be used as a sort of get out of jail free card. Still it should be safe to say Father's matter. Despite what the feminists may tell you! I have watched other videos from Tony Evans and I really appreciated his "what to do" suggestion of building a bridge between someone different than you and then together going to serve someone less fortunate. It's the communities that need strengthened not more government intervention.

After some time there, they decided to buy a new car and purchased an Audi. In the next 30 days after purchase, the 2 of them were pulled over by police 15 times and NEVER given a ticket, nor were they doing anything wrong, but always some kind of “warning” after they had checked out the car and drivers. If blk people want to own businesses, buildings, houses etc. they can do so. The same fees and paperwork whts have to pay and fill out will be accepted when submitted by blks. We have anti discrimination laws in place to maintain the right of every citizen to be able to do or be whatever we want. What you obviously don't know is the fact that Dr. Evans isn't the only "black" Christian leader who has made this very same claim. Kirk Franklin, who's at least 20+ years younger than Dr. Evans has also made this very same statement, where he too was denied an opportunity for his music to be heard on a Christian radio channel in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, for the same reason. Therefore, Dr. Evans situation wasn't a singular event and if you chose to seek out other "black" Christian leaders, I'm sure that you'll hear more of the same. I have tremendous respect for Dr. Evans and what he shares. Don't hate on me, but try to understand where I am coming from and answer if you'd like, because I am honestly trying to see it from this perspective. Yes, we had Jim Crow laws, slavery, and systemic racism embedded in our systems. With the passing of the Civil Rights act and voting rights act, systemic racism has become illegal. During the time of Jim Crow, from the 1940's to the 1960's, black families were making incredible advances in business, wealth, and finances. This was in SPITE of systemic racism codified into laws as they followed the Booker T. Washington approach. It seems to me that the government took over and ruined all the progress they had made, and rather than being the strong families they once were, with increasing home ownership and thriving businesses, their families and foundations have been destroyed, and the consequences we see in wealth inequality, income inequality, etc. are a result of that. So I might agree that systemic racism exists, but to me it seems much more existent in leftist policies that prevent black families from getting ahead, not allowing equal education through school choice, not affirming and rewarding marriage in black families, etc. These policies purported to help black families but ended up destroying them instead. by Jason Reilly, or by Shelby and Eli Steele are good backgrounds for this, as well as a lot of Thomas Sowell's work. I am NOT denying racism or even systemic racism exists, it's just that most examples I see of systemic racism are easily refuted when we look at other factors for unequal outcomes.

I am curious. Every form of systemic racism that was cited in this video (all democrat policies) have been eliminated. In fact the only systemic policies regarding race are either in place to provide assurances of equality of opportunity or in some cases equality of outcomes (affirmative action etc). So if we are to fight examples of current systemically racist policies, then we must know what those policies are and where they are applied. The frustrating issue is that so many people claim policies of racism and cannot name one, including Dr. Evans.

D C'mon perhaps you can help me. Respectfully Dr. Evans, didn’t name any specific structures that are in place today holding minorities back. Systemic racism cannot be specifically identified or quantified in America today. Statistics show that more Wht men are killed by police than Blks. I am grateful for Dr. Evans being a voice for unity, but the fact is a lot of what is holding the Black community back today is personal decisions. Probably the biggest is Black fathers abandoning their families, abdicating their responsibilities, and refusing to support their children. Perhaps White people can encourage Black fathers to be faithful, but we all can and should do that. What specific structures are sustaining this alleged “systematic racism”???

Systemic racism? Well here in Britain we have native white People sleeping rough on the streets, while illigals are housed in top notch hotels, we have BLM protestors throwing bottles and bricks against police and police horses, tearing down statues with government backing them, while counter protestors who go to defend those statues in a civilised way are called thugs by government and main steam media.There’s a couple of examples, not sure if that’s the systematic racism your on about though, that done against white people

The share of both white and Black Americans with college degrees has increased dramatically over the last half-century, but there's still a gap. The pipeline is part of the problem - if fewer Black children go to schools with robust resources or even math and science classes in high school, then there will be fewer students who have the support and credentials to go to college. Even though the government desegregated schools 66 years ago, about half of students in the US still attend either predominantly white or non-white schools, according to a 2019 report from nonprofit group EdBuild. And the differences between those schools are still visible. "For every student enrolled, the average nonwhite school district receives $2,226 less than a white school district," the report authors wrote. And that disparity is also true when comparing poor districts. The authors wrote: "Poor-white school districts receive about $150 less per student than the national average - an injustice all to itself. Yet they are still receiving nearly $1,500 more than poor-nonwhite school districts." Instead of postings reactionary negative comments, community members should educate themselves. Stop asking black and brown bodies to do this work for you, we are exhausted! Do some research by driving through your local community and look at the disparity.

You can't have unconscious belief. You literally need to be conscious to know you have a specific belief. The example concerning being able to access certain media is not an example of racism (your definition is incorrect, btw, racism is hatred based on race). What you experienced was product placement. They needed to ensure they made money, gained viewership, kept viewership, what have you, and they determined having you there wouldn't help them do that. It's like trying to sell shrimp in a Jewish neighborhood. It's not racist, it just doesn't sell. There's no definitive proof that it's because the viewers or the network execs hated black people. Both of my black parents grew up poor or nearly poor. They had something "holding them back" if you will. Yet they both became successful. My mother in particular was able to secure two degrees and be a successful professor, researcher, and medical practitioner. If there's some system in place, it doesn't work.

@@yylaminator No, she's conscience of her belief that she may be in danger. Therefore, she called the cops. If the person wasn't doing something wrong, then it's an *unfounded* belief, a belief not based on compelling evidence in that present moment, but not unconscious.

Ephesians 6:12 For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the Heavens. I feel this is where all of man kind troubles begin but is seldom addressed, even Jesus dealt with these evil powers, but over came them, and we all should come to Him and pray for Victory over the darkness and the god of this world whos mission is to destroy us all. Then we will all move closer to union we all were born to have in Christ all brothers and sisters in God, yet the world continues to grow more cold until God decides when the end will come.

Thank you, Pastor. I appreciate your perspective on this serious topic that has everyone in "Group Think" mode. I especially appreciate how you spoke of your encounters with a system in the broadcast arena among white brethren of that time. I remember when the great NFL once believed that a black quarterback was inconceivable. That wasn't that long ago. The United States definitely has some issues. For me personally, I see so many more pressing matters that rise above the issue of race at this time. As you know, this nation and the world at-large has a great sin issue. It, along with mankind's attempt to govern itself apart of our Great God is FAILING on a NOW colossal scale. We're watching it 'real time' now. I say it's time to double down on praying, ..."Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done". Until then, I truly believe that those who know their God should have an expectation that the Kingdom is nearer than ever. And, while we tarry until He comes, pray for our leaders, communities, etc, etc, etc. that we can live peaceable lives. Systemic racism? Ok, I just add that there's "SYSTEMIC SIN" at work here. Just saying. Again, I appreciate you putting this up. You have great heart!

God made us all different. equality is how we choose to treat others. racism is when we are prejudice, discriminate or antagonise someone because of their race and treat them differently because of this. The ideology that a blackman should be gifted that which is not earnt as a means to catch up is a racist one. We can only provide the same opportunity for him to earn it. And a man's right to gift that which he has earnt is entirely at his own discretion.
@renee7477
@renee7477 4 жыл бұрын
I'm a big fan of Dr. Evans, but the part where he talks about a people group needing the opportunity to "catch up" to another people group, already happened for people of color with the Civil Rights movement and affirmative action. And while affirmative action was never Biblically "just" for blacks or whites, we're now at a place where equal opportunity for different ethnicities exists in most places in America. To insinuate that "black people" as a generalized group still need help to catch up to another generalized group, "white people", is to insinuate that ALL black people are still oppressed by the "systems" in America. I believe there are some people in America who are oppressed by certain life situations and often demonic forces who are holding them back from success. That oppression has nothing to do with skin color and more to do with their individual situations which can only be generalized as the Bible explains. They are the poor, the orphans, the fatherless, the widows, (which in today's society can include single moms). The big C Church, not our government, should be more focused on helping the poor, the orphans, the fatherless, the widows, and the single mothers who are struggling, regardless of their color or ethnic background. The struggling in those "groups" are the ones who need help to "catch up". Many of them already have caught up, and even surpassed those who started out "ahead", so the help needs to be on a personal, individual basis, instead of lumping them all together in more social groups. I just read day 1 of Dr. Evans' devotional on YouVersion called "Biblical Justice". What he says in THAT, including the Scriptures he used with it, rang so true in my spirit! He is 100% right on in that teaching. I also recommend listening to Voddie Baucham on KZfaq. He has many incredible teachings, but his one titled "Ethnic Gnosticism" is SO educational from an academic AND Biblical perspective. I would LOVE to see Dr. Evans and Dr. Baucham sit down and have a discussion about the topics of race and Biblical vs social justice. That could be really incredible!

well spoken. it would have been useful if Pastor Evans would have provided current examples instead of past examples so that we can home in on problematic structures. one thing i can see is the education system where schools in black communities have been underperforming by a lot and for a long time. however, in these same areas, like big cities, the black communities have been winning politically for decades, in that their preferred candidate/party consistently wins the election, yet improvements are slow. even focusing additional federal funds to these schools has not helped. i suspect that the elected officials/party might be working hard to keep some of these communities down and dependent. as the Pastor implied, we all have to use our vote wisely to not support such structures by not supporting candidates who prefer these structures.

I distinctly remember in summer of 88' on Saturday mornings I would listen to the Bible teaching of both you and Charles Stanley as an unchanging part of my routine and was very grateful to be able to do so. i never gave any thought whatsoever to you and he being of different races although I obviously was aware of it; In this video I am sorry to say I do not believe you made the cse that systemic racism is truly an issue in the U.S., nor did you make oit clear prcisely what it is although apartheid in S.A. would certainly be an example. As a white man in mid 50's I do know we have some racists in America ( not that many, even if there are some loud ones but I do not believe we truly have an issue with "systemic racism." At any rate, love you brother, am grateful for your ministry which helped and encouraged me especially in my early days of faith- I too became a pastor. Condolences on the recent loss of your wife, but ?i am glad you have the certain hope of seeing her again and that even in your grief you are being made stronger and are growing to see Life as it truly is.
