Today I will be putting 7 popular hair color removers to the test to see which one comes out on top. I’ve separated this wig into different sections and will be trying a color remover on each section. The colors I will be trying to remove are blue, green, red, and black dyes, these colors tend to be some of the hardest to remove so we can really put these color removers to work! Which one works the best at removing the dyes without causing too much damage to the hair?...watch and see! What is the best color remover?

I have used the effasol in the past and I could fel my hair was a little bit stretchy when wet afterwards. I used the schwarzkopf one recently and it is on another level. I used a different 6 vol developer that I had laying around and it worked perfectly fine. It removed everything (permanent color, not direct dyes), my hair felt fine afterwards when wet. It felt sliiightly velcro-y right after drying but the day after it was back to normal. I recolored 48h later with igora royal (7-982) but it is possible to recolor right after. I had to use 4 packets (2 doses) to fully saturate my fine, formal density, slightly longer than shoulder length hair. 100% recommend this color remover, totally gentle.

For the future, I'm a hairstylist for 23 years, press, with the Malibu with blues and greens you mix it with water to get the most effective lift and for reds and pinks and oranges you would use developer I hope that helps. I don't know if that applies with other coloring movers but DDL and the CPR CPR from Malibu is generally what I use most often. Also it probably would have been best if put under a dryer that's when you get the most effective lift

Thank you so much for this comment!!! My daughter’s hair😩….. so she has dark brown hair naturally. Around the crown of her hair, we got it lightened with toner(just found out that’s just bleach). We enjoyed that for a while! Finished the year w honor roll and I allowed her to put the Joico Color Intensity Purple Violet Semipermanent in just the blonde……SUCH A MISTAKE! she’s definitely been swimming this summer but the front bangs are green!!! The pieces underneath are purple/blue!!!! Please help!! Any advice would help :( school starts in a week! And I feel like such a failure!!! Our hairdresser is going to use Malibu DDL & we were really sad and nervous to see these videos where the Malibu DDL didn’t seem so effective. Your comment gave me hope 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

I know that I'm a year late LOL and I apologize for that but I was doing research on the easiest way to remove my pink hair color. I came across your video and regards to the different methods including color zapp and I wanted to let you know that color zap works 110%. The issue is that colors zapp has an activator in it that is to only be used with permanent direct hair color onto the follicle because it has to go into the follicle to lift the color and it states it in the instructions. if you read them it completely you would know that it states that. It also states that if it's not a permanent color not to utilize the activator but just to fill it up with warm water up to the line of the bottle and put it on your hair wrap it up put a plastic cover over it and if you can add a little bit of heat just to get it activated and started that's cool too. Not too much just a little bit. I have used so many methods and they've been harsh on my hair so I was trying to look for a less of a harsh method this time around and I utilized color zapp without the activator. I put it on my hair and a plastic cover over it for 15 minutes and then I went in for a couple minutes with the blow dryer and put some heat on it covered it backed up for another 10 minutes and my pink hair was 110% gone. I had dyed my hair initially pink then put on a purple color on top of the pink it came out beautiful but nevertheless I had two different layers of two different colors on my hair and color zapp removed it completely. Just wanted to share my experience. Thank you. Love ur content.

yep anything use the shampoo prior you can get your hair back to perfect long without damage because then you can use the ddl with only 10 volume developer and you could actually leave it on for 45 minutes you don't only have to take it off in a half hour. you also have to use more than she did that was totally dry I know we're near enough to actually do the job properly she basically just coded the outside of the hair and it was dry and squashy that's not how you use it.

@nicolefrank1347
@nicolefrank1347 3 жыл бұрын
First off you never never use 20 vol with color removers no matter how bright the colors are, 2nd of all you never wanna remove a direct dye 2 days after its done cause it won't remove that well. 3rd of all they work best with distilled water, 6vol or 10vol developers. And in my experience as a stylist of 13 years.. My professional opinion is that DDL and Blank Canvas work the best and leave the hair in better shape than any other color removers, plus if you add bodning agents like Olaplex or B3 it will help the integrity of the hair even more. And most color removers don't need to be on longer than 20 minutes and most will advise no longer than 20 minutes.

just a little tip though anytime you're using something like that or bleach it's best to fully saturate the hair if you don't fully saturate it it's going to dry out and once it dries it won't work and it's not going to really get all of the hair so you're definitely going to have splotchiness. the ddl actually works very well but you have to use more than one pack and you really have to saturate the hair and you're supposed to leave that one on for about 45 minutes for full effect. the joico color eraser is basically just bleach and it will dry the shit out of your hair in fact it's more damaging than bleaches so I would never recommend anyone use that especially if you already had your hair lightened and change the colors a few times you're going to snap your hair off using that. I'm a cosmetologist btw so not just talking out my ass.

The issue I have here is that color removers require a plastic cap & heat to be the most effective. Just applying it to ponytails and allowing it to just hang there I don't think is a real test. The Malibu CPR used with an alkaline shampoo to prep then a plastic cap and heat for up to 45 min has worked really well...BUT DON'T FORGET THE CAP & HEAT TO BE MORE OBJECTIVE NEXT TIME. YOU DIDN'T READ THE COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS. IT DOESN'T SAY " APPLY TO DRY HAIR AND LET IT SIT AT ROOM TEMPERATURE!!

I used the Schwarzkopf Professional Bond Enforcing Color remover, along with their developer. I had to use it twice & it still didn’t remove the orange color out of my hair 😓 it definitely made it lighter than it originally was, but I was more hopeful that it would completely remove. I don’t wanna say it was a waste of money, cause it honestly did lighten & it did leave my hair feeling way better than it originally did. But I am disappointed ☹️

I had 2 yrs worth of black hair dye on my head and recently used color zap on my hair to remove the black and some areas it didn't turn out and on one side I didnt have enough of colorzap so I added water to it and that area faded out better than the one side that actually had good amount of coating of colorzap which was odd to me. But thanks for this video. What store did you buy the product that won for the best result by the way?

love the experiment! however I wish that in addition to using multiple color removers that you also would have used a variety of direct dye brands! would have loved to see pulp riot and pravana colors especially! maybe in a future video...? just because dye remover sometimes works better/worse on diff brands! EDIT: also it is clear that you did not read the instructions for the DDL (or maybe any of them) the DDL is 3 oz of developer per PACKET. Also you mix the pulp riot 1:1.5 (1.5 times the amount of developer). So I love this video idea but would like to see more precision with the execution. EDIT 2: Also wanted to mention that I regularly use pulp riot blank canvas and it works amazingly. For any of these colors if you are really trying to get them out I would really recommend using a stripping shampoo prior, ONLY using PROFESSIONAL colors (read: arctic fox is NOT) and like knowing what you are doing. Pulp riot for me has always worked really well and always lightens my roots too, but I never use it until I'm ready to apply more color. Would please love to see a redo of this video in the future because the concept is really on point!

The Schwarzkopf didn't work for me. I used all as listed with 10vol. It lightened my orange and blue dyes (the orange more) but the blue isn't nearly to blonde or pastel even. The blue is from Candy Colors and the orange from Colour Pop.I don't know what to do anymore because I don't want to expend 100€ in a hairdresser.

I am so glad I came across you. My hair is naturally dishwasher blonde. I am 46 years old and on medication so my hair is this but healthy. I have had permanent box black hair dye. I have had it on for years. I have went from highlighted blonde platinum to black back to bleach back to black thru the years. Again I have permanent black box hair dye. I used the color oops from local last week it didn't do much some strands turned brassy but not much at all came out. I want to go back to natural then I want to highlighted most to platinum. Can you please help me I do not have the money to get it done professionally

hahha dishwasher blonde! and oof going from black box dye to platinum is quite the task! So far my favourite color remover from permanent colors would be the L'Oreal Effasol. The punky color snapped my hair off but that was my own fault. I knew my hair was compromised and I just used the 20 vol that came with it when I had 10 vol at my disposal. We had just moved and I didn't feel like digging through boxes for it 🙄 I probably could've gotten away with just using water too. But it is very effective at removing stubborn colors. It was the only thing that worked on my Lime Crime Chocolate Cherry.
