Our favorite here at STS and Hemming Outdoors is the cam lock and the micro lock. They are smooth and fast. We would like to get with you to review a snare we carry and see what your thoughts are on it. Not many people sell them commercially that I have seen

Do you have, or know of, any videos on how to make and use a washer lock? I've watched some of your other videos on field expedient snares and wonder how effective washer locks would be to use in an expedient or grid down situation. In one of your videos you mention keeping an eye out for various sources of usable cable to scavenge, such as old lawn mower throttle cables. It seems that being able to make and use washer locks would fall into the same category.

I do not, but that is a very good idea for a future video! Thanks for the suggestion!

What is your opinion on the ram power snare, I've recently started using a few for wolf and coyote and have had trouble with ravens getting in them not once but twice. Happy holidays and thanks for the videos and your knowledge and time.

I noticed you put a "kink" at the terminal end of your cable, next to the lock. Would you please educate me as to why you do this? I've always run the lock end of the cable, through the lock just opposite they way you do. I don't have any need for putting any kink in the cable, and I get very nice loop shape even before loading them. So, I must be missing something, and I would really like to know what benefit you are gaining by kinking the cable. Thanks so much for you feedback!!

Great job on demonstrating the different snare locks. I myself use the cam lock. I use a silicone spray that I spray on the cam and cable. I get the stuff from LEM. I also use that stuff on my DP'S. It has no scent. And does a great job. I've been using it for years never had a problem yet. ( I hope my tip can help someone..)

My first choice Is a toothed cam lock but there not legal in Virginia anymore, so I have been using slim locks on 5/64" 1×19 and grawes bullet lock on 1/16" inch. I also like the Bmi mini lock. I use them on my mink snares. I play around with locks and cable combos all the time, so whatever closes fastest and locks up best Is what I use. I've used them all at one time or another. I don't like the washer locks for anything, I don't really like the micro lock for coyotes, had alot of waterhead with them, and I want as quick and clean a kill as I can get so I don't use them. If it's legal in your state , a senneker lightning cam lock, with a senneker torsion spring and his 265 pound b.a.d, for coyotes Is as good a setup as you will find. Yes there exspensive even if yoy build them yourself but they do there job every time and they do it fast.

That is called a deer stop. In some states of the US it is law to have them to stop the snare from closing smaller then like 2” so a deer could escape if caught in the snare.
