when u are high enough lvl, you would ;) . Run the whole game with just blaziken and u can sweep through anything thx to his high offense, decent speed and type coverage moves. Cant say the same with swampert/sceptile, swampert is pretty slow even if higher lvl, well sceptile lacks the dmg and move coverage not to mention treeckos gen 3 lvl up move pool suck so much with a decent move being learned only at lvl 29.

Worst thing is that he is just better than blaziken and sceptile when facing Drake considering he has ice moves and with ORAS, he has a move for nearly each of steven's mons except skarmory.

However Glacia has Water/Ice types, making them weak to Blaziken's fighting type attacks; give it Brick Break, Double Kick, or Sky Uppercut and they won't even have a chance to attack. Plus with the Champion having almost all steel types and a Fire/Fighting type is probably the best to have. This is actually the first time I agree with them in the series, as I feel Squirtle and Totodile are easier to use based on their movepools and lack of major weaknesses. However I do agree with ItsThatKidGreg in that they should go more into their stats and what moves they can learn at certain stages of the game, not just type. As far as these three go, all three have certain stat problems based on the mechanics of Gen 3. Starting with Swampert, it has high Attack but water moves are all special. Blaziken has the same problem, with high attack but fire being special. Sceptile in this Gen was the only one with good stats based on its type, but in later generations he learns mostly physical attacks which doesn't really help it much.

Justus Chan The unevolved version of swampert or Mudkip has two weaknesses, but as only if Mudkip is evolved, it has 1 weakness, replacing the electric type weakness into immunity and will have 4x grass weakness.

But if Swampert is given by the ring target, it replaces the immunity and becomes a weakness, which means that if it is Swampert or Marshtomp, the ground type is accessed by the same way of how it can't have the electric type immunity and it is a water type. So the Swampert and Marshstomp gets a weakness due to being a water type, but becomes ground type still. Also, the ring target replaces the immunity into 1x, weakness or resistance, depending on what type is the Pokémon.

If you're going based on ORAS, Blaziken wins in a freaking landslide. Hate to say it, but Speed Boost pretty much breaks the game right then and there. Even if you don't go after the hidden ability, the Mega ALSO has speed boost.

I've beaten rivals May's Sceptile with my Swampert, as well as other grass types in battle. Yes it has 4x times weakness, but its bulk and hp helps a lot. And if you buff up its defense and have hyper and max potions, you can win. Too slow? Use x speed and watch Swampert wash them away with muddy water or surf. Impossible? If you cant figure out how to get around a major weakness in a pokemon battle, and win, then you need some help learning the games.

As i said in one of my previous comments if you put rain dance on a mega swampert you will probably outspeed, but you most likely wont outspeed using a normal swampert

Another benifit to having another pokemon set up rain is that you can replace rain dance on swampert with another move.But if you dont have another rain setter than you will most likely die

It's really Blaziken's stats that make it such a great pokemon in gen 3. The physical/special split wouldn't come until gen 4 so all of Swampert's water STABs are hindered by its base 85 spatk. It was bulkier than Blaziken and has less weaknesses which makes it a good tank, but Blaziken's fire/fighting combo coupled with its good attack and spatk means that the types it can hit with its STABs get hit much harder than Swampert's water STAB. When you also take into account that the most difficult gym for the level that you'll probably encounter is Norma's gym of which he has two Slakings with base 150 HP and 100 def, the strengths Blaziken bring to the table become much more apparent. Steven also doesn't destroy Blaziken. No idea where you get this from. Blaziken's secondary fighting type makes rock neutral against it and that very same fighting type is super effective vs rock types. Claydol is the only Pokemon Steven has that gives Blaziken trouble, but not because of its ground typing. It is the psychic typing that causes trouble since Claydol is specially defensive and its psychic typing means it resists Blaziken's fighting STAB. Skarmory is physically defensive and falls to fire stab, Aggron is 4x weak to fighting STAB, Cradily is 2x weak to fighting STAB, Armaldo is physically defensive and takes neutral damage from fire STAB, and Metagross is physically defensive with 2x weakness from fire STAB. Compare to Swampert. Skarmory is immune to ground STAB so Swampert relies on base 85 spatk surf/hydro pump to kill it. Aggron is 4x weak to water STAB. Claydol is specially defensive and takes 2x damage from base 85 water STAB. Cradily is neutral to both STAB and specially defensive. Armaldo is physically defensive with 2x weakness to water STAB. Metagross is physically defensive with 2x weakness to ground STAB. With this in mind, Blaziken>Swampert vs Skarmory, Blaziken=Swampert vs Aggron, BlazikenSwampert vs Claydol, Swampert>Blaziken vs Armaldo, Blaziken=Swampert vs Metagross for type matchups alone. Adding them together, they are exactly even. Taking the matchups where they are even in type matchups, fighting and ground are both physically offensive so Blaziken wins slightly for 120 base attack vs 110 on Swampert. Fire is special while ground is physical which gives Blaziken a big edge vs Metagross. Both fire/fighting and water/ground were very good offensive typings in gen 3, but the thing that sets Blaziken apart from Swampert is its ability to make very effective use of both of them offensively. Swampert is certainly the better defensive Pokemon, but there are a number of others that can sufficiently fulfill the roles Swampert fills while there is no comparable mixed attacker until very late in the game with Salamence and Metagross. What it ultimately comes down to is how replaceable the Pokemon is on your team and Blaziken is simply unmatched as a mixed attacker until very late in the game. Swampert's role as a bulky water type with decent offensive capabilities can be covered by Kingdra, Whiscash, Wailord, Vaporeon, and Tentacruel while its role as a STAB earthquake user with few weaknesses can be covered by Flygon and Whiscash. The only comparable mixed attacker outside of Salamence and Metagross is Flygon whose base stats are 20 less in attack and 30 in special attack respectively: a very large disparity. To put it simply, there are lots of very good non-starter Pokemon that can do what Swampert does but only very late game non-starter Pokemon that are good enough to do what Blaziken does. torchic has more strengths then mudkip in hoenn. the torchic line does well against roxanne if you evolved it, goes even brawly, does well against watson due to his steel types, and destroys flannery and norman. last 3 gyms are a problem, but after that the torchic line does amazing in the pokemon league. not to mention the torchic line DESTROYS all of team magma/aqua.

@@trent800 the elite four is what puts blaziken over the hump imo. He literally steamrolls sidney, goes even with phoebe, does well overall against glacia, and pretty much destroys Steven. the only advantage swampers has, besides a few of steven's pokemon being weak to water and ground, is using ice beam against drake. in terms of gyms, blaziken does exceptionally well against Roxanne, Wattson's steel types, Norman, and i mean come on it really does well against flannery. blaziken also does the best against the villain teams
