Winter is generally a good season to fish for catfish. But it also depends which catfish are you looking for. Blue catfish and channel catfish are the best ones for winter.
Best time to fish for catfish during winter is from midday until about half hour before sunset. That is the warmest time of the day and fish are going to be more active.
Spring and time of day
Higher temperatures make catfish more active. Catfish comes to warmer water to feed actively and aggressively. Except blue and channel, now you can catch more flathead catfish too!
In early spring temperatures are more similar to winter than summer. The best time of the day is from late morning until sunset. In later spring that time changes towards nighttime, similar to summer.

Early autumn is similar to summer when considering time of a day. From evening to morning you will have much higher chances to catch a catfish. As temperatures drop, best time to fish for catfish changes from night to day. Late morning until sunset is the best period.
Same as mid-spring, in mid-autumn you can switch between day and night and try both.
We can say that summer is better than winter, spring and fall can be similar, but the truth is that catfish can be caught all year round! Some anglers say they bite more actively during night and that evening is better than morning. So no matter what season it is, avoid middle of the day (except in winter), take your gear and test your technique, and luck!
