Hey guys! In this video I'm going to talk about what is the best watercolor paper and how you can actually improve your watercolor paintings with the right watercolor paper! We will talk about the difference between watercolor and regular / drawing paper, between cellulose and cotton paper, sizing and the difference between cold and hot pressed paper and their texture! I struggled with cheap sketching paper at first and you are right it is so frustrating when you are trying to learn watercolor. Good paper makes the world of difference. #makoficationsquad

Sketching paper is too thin you can draw excess water from your brush by touching the base of the bristles with a paper towel or a dry rag

Yeah... Time ago when i started with watercolors i give up because of paper, but i dont knew was the paper what make things hard... Years after that i try again with watercolors and other kind of paper... And i notice i make it better at first intention... So i notice was the paper...

Hey Mako! I couldn't find good quality paper and had resorted to using a drawing sketchbook since the paper was quite thick. And like you said, the paper curls easily but I'm not unhappy with how the paints look on paper. So glad you did this video, now I know what to bother my art supplier/stationary shop with. Thanks 😊

This made so much sense, finally a video of the why's, not I like this paper. It is a struggle to work on cheaper paper, I use it for practice only until I get better then moving on the the better more expensive stuff. So helpful, thanks

Used to paint on Arches CP and Saunders Waterford CP, but found out that I like Hahnemuhle Expression paper CP the most, the colors flow really well and pop! I always go for the 50x65 10-packs, more economical than those smaller blocks.
