I have a 2013 3.5L 181,200 miles. Great, reliable vehicle. No major issues. Brake Booster replaced around 170,000. Be cautious of the water pump as it runs off the timing chain. Thinking staying on top of coolant/radiator maintenance and regular oil changes (I do Mobil1 every 10k miles) may increase longevity of the water pump…I’ve not had any issues from that standpoint

Nice 👍 Yes, I think more frequent oil changes and coolant drain and fills (with OEM fluid) may help extend the life of the water pump.

I just bought a 2013 with a 3.5 V6 motor all wheel drive and the thing is just a rocketship 150,000 miles paid 7000 for it. The only thing it needed when I bought it was an alignment and an oil change, and it’s like brand new whoever owned it before me took like extremely good care of it, the ride is great and I’m a big guy and it is a lot of room for such a little car. I love it.

I’m glad it helped 👍 Make sure the title is clean and also get it looked at by a mechanic before you buy any used car. You’re not looking for perfection, but you don’t want any major problems. Also, when I buy a used car I try to screen the previous owner. I made a video on how to do that. You may be able to check the maintenance history before you even go look at the vehicle. Check out this video, it can help a lot. Good luck 🍀 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q6d0fZCXmJ_Upnk.htmlsi=_vcMQd7iWFq2qUNk

I have a navy blue 2011 Ford Edge limited w/ chrome 20" wheels and chrome trim. 6 cylnder. Milage just hit 130,000 and still runs like new. I keep it showroom quality. I have had it 3 years and the only problem that i have had was the backup camera and my panoramic sunroof. The sunroof issue was solved when i got a new battery. The rubber is off track slightly on the right side. It just needs to realigned and greased and it will be fine. Overall a great car. I love it.

@@TheRabidfox11 Depends on what you consider expensive 🤷‍♂️ I found a video with a 2017 that has a similar problem. In this video there was a problem with corrosion getting in the wiring harness near the rear brakes. In that case replacing the harness solved the problem. So probably a few hundred dollars. That doesn’t mean it will 100% be the same repair or price as your vehicle…. But- perhaps it will be. The only way to know for sure it’s to take it to a good technician and have them look at it. My favorite part of the car is the sunroof and the stereo! I did replace the panoramic sunroof sliders (common problem) Did it myself. Needed a new front wheel bearing. Also did myself. Right now the only issue is a evap small leak code. And sometimes i get a message on the dash "check fuel inlet" or something like that. (common problem). Im planning to replace the purge valve. 2009 Ford Edge with 160,000 miles. 2WD, 6 Cylinder, 3.5L. Bought it 1 year old with 9,000 miles. It's a beast! My major repairs have been axle, tie rods, shocks, struts all in the 85,000 - 125,00 miles range. Interesting to see your video and learn it truly is a good car. Keeping it, but in the market for a newer car and looking at Ford Edges again. Came across your video researching if the newer models are as reliable. Was looking at 2021-2023. Any input or links to share on this?

If I were you I’d get a 2015 Ford Edge SE trim (or any trim without the pano roof) because, according to my research, 2015 the last year they used the 3.5 liter engine. If you want more info on the current Edges engine - the 2.0l eco boost - Google - Ford 2 liter eco boost common problems… Then you’ll understand why I recommend sticking with the 3.5 liter lol Just watch the water pump on the 3.5 engine and you’ll be fine. One this channel … once a model and year range are determined… we use a 3 step process that includes the following: 1- Select - selecting the best year range and powertrain for you.. Which in this case is the 2015 3.5 liter 2- Screen - screen the previous owner(s) by looking at the car fax for free online. Here’s a couple videos of how I do this. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hMVylJCA2bOuoGg.htmlsi=IAWdpqEMH9pZ6iv- kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q6d0fZCXmJ_Upnk.htmlsi=pDsOMMDmdVFPhdj2 3- inspect - have a mobile mechanic go to the lot and check it out before you buy it. You’re not looking for perfection, but you must avoid huge problems… Excessive rust, accidents ect. Car lots will sell you anything. Anything small that the mechanic finds can be used as leverage to lower your offer to the dealership. Have fun shopping. Let me know if you have any questions 👍

I liked the video. I have a 2013 Lincoln MKX with the 3.7 V/6. Isn't this basically the same motor ? Do you know on average miles when the water pump goes up, because that looks like a real expensive repair? Also every thing on the motor looks like It would be a costly repair. Hope this motor holds up as good as the 3.5.
@MJ100k
@MJ100k 2 ай бұрын
Yes the 3.7 is a very similar Duratec motor. The transverse versions of the 3.7 are also affected by the water pump concern in the 3.5L A very rough estimate would be 1,500-2000$ When will it happen: ? IDK - there was a class action lawsuit that was dismissed that claimed it happened as low as 50k. Ford says it’s tested to 150k… So idk when it could happen exactly. See the section on water pumps: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Cyclone_engine Some people think that changing the fluid with OEM fluid often and checking the coolant level weekly could help to see a signal it’s going out… But if it fails it could damage the engine - so if you’re planning on keeping the vehicle for a few years… I would make plans to get that water pump replaced if it’s original. You might as well replace the timing chain and any seals in that area while you’re in there.

I have a 2013 3.5 l v6. It has 155,000. I bought it at 86,000. It was well cared for. And I have maintained it well too. I never had a problem with it until last week a coolant leak. My mechanic said the water pump is leaking. Because it's powered by the timing chain it would be over 3k to fix. But wait there's more...there is a second leak near the transmission. He said he has never seen leak there before. I would need to go to Ford to fix that. He told me it's not worth fixing. It would likely be over 6k to fix both leaks. I'm sad I really like my Edge. I recently read 2013 typically only last 150,000.

This was my mom car on first, after that, she brought it to the mechanic shop and they said it needed a new engine because of the noise in the timing chain. She decided to decline getting a new engine and was going to just get the car scrapped, I decided I'll take it and see what I can do, she got a newer 2.0 ecoboost edge now. So far the things that failed was the "Water pump, secondary timing chain tensioner, and the secondary timing chain snapped.
