+Ray Selby Hi Ray. Some herbs are perennial while others are annual. Common perennial herbs include sage, mint and thyme while annual herbs include basil. Hope that is useful 😀

Wouldn't we have an annual growing again the following year without having to plant it? Given it would be where ever the seed drop without control over where we have it, correct? - True question :) Very good video, thank you!

In theory, yes. But of course all the conditions for seed germination need to be right. Unfortunately there are many reasons why they have not re-emerged. Another issue has been very unseasonal climatic conditions in many areas.

Thanks for the video. It was very informative, so I gave you a thumbs up. Do you have any experience with using fragrant plants to keep mosquitoes at bay? We have a terrible mosquito problem.

Thank you for taking the time to ask your question :) I have grown plants specifically to try to reduce mosquitoes, but can't be sure how effective they have been - I have been sure that there has been less mosquitos around, but my wife has continued to attract them!! The plants that I have grown for this have been multi-purpose; they are great in the kitchen as well. These include Rosemary, Basil and Lemon Grass. I have also grown Citronella and a citronella fragrant geranium. While I have tried them for this purpose, other plants that might worth growing to repel mosquitos include Catnip, Lavender and Marigolds. Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the video. However, I don't think you discussed the annuals sufficiently for me to make an informed decision. So I think the video could have been better. You made clear that an annual dies at the end of one year. You said it seeds, and these seeds can germinate. But @3 mins 11sccs, you said that annuals will need to be re-planted after their cycle. But if they re-seed, then why do I need to buy new ones each year? To me, that sounds like a huge disadvantage. Will they not replace themselves?

Typically, annual plants only live for one season. After this they die. In order to have these plants from one year to the next, you will need to either allow them to self sow, or plant new ones. Hope this helps.

Hahaha, good pickup, but I think context of the statement is that it doesn’t die as a result of the annual cycle of fruiting and setting seed. Of course it will die at some stage in its future 😊. Time for a beer myself now 🍺🍻 cheers 😊

I think you are referring to when I say “replant them after they finish their lifecycle”. Most annual plants will die after they have produced seed, so you will then need to replant new ones. Hope that helps.
