Minimalism is obsessed with less material things, that people become anxious forcing themselves to get rid of none use. Wabi Sabi allows for imperfection that calms, and having objects that you don’t use, that you find valuable. Wabi Sabi brings us close to nature, while Minimalism bring us to minimum objects with the soul purpose of giving you time to focus on tasks, focusing on outcomes. Focusing on outcomes comes with perfection and pointless suffering.

Great explanation. Would you consider wabi sabi and extension of minimalism or vice versa?

Hi, thank you for your comment. I appreciate the question. For me, while Wabi Sabi and Minimalism share some common elements, such as simplicity, they ultimately serve different purposes. Wabi Sabi, with its embrace of imperfection and transience, seems to focus more on the beauty of life's inherent flaws and the passage of time. On the other hand, Minimalism, with its emphasis on simplicity and functionality, tends to seek to reduce clutter and highlight essential elements. Although they may intersect in certain aspects, I see them as distinct philosophies with unique intentions. How about you? I would love to hear your thoughts on this as well!

I personally think wabi-sabi decor is an extension of minimalism but for it to meet the conditions of wabi-sabi, the decor must be timeless and as we know as the years progress the decor will naturally age (transience) and if it goes untouched during the aging process it will eventually meet the conditions of wabi sabi.
