This is actually the first time in my life I heard that you need 2 button presses for bowser. I always used to hold the button and then released it.

A button press could be saved by grabbing a Mips star simultaneously to jumping to get to HMC by doing a star dance ledge grab. Also, get everything in HMC you plan to get in 1 trip, since you won’t have to jump to get back in. The 100 coin star in THI could be done with 5 secrets, saving a button press. In Bowser in the Sky, an above Chuckya can be manipulated to save a button press at the beginning. This strat is used in the ABC.

I did an RTA 70 run where I only counted A/B/Z presses because there is a category called RTABZ, I did it in 398 ABZ presses and I’ma look in the vid for some things and edit it here if I find some stuff Edit: honestly seems like you have done a good amount of research, kinda motivating me to beat my PB In JRB you can get the star in the ship in 2, one for being able to swim and if you do the framewalking first to collect the star you can press Z and break the box and collect the star with 1 Z press Also after the first star if you press save and quit it saved 1 menu press from having to exit all the 3 textboxes Also pretty sure you can framewalk onto the ship for the first time but Idk if you can collect the rest of the coins 0xbutton presses then And yeah you can save 5 with not throwing bowser I think that’s all the button presses I can quickly think of watching the vid, cool that you made a vid of it. Might try and beat my score today

bomb clip is optimally 3 buttons with a weird strat, you grab the bobomb as it's blowing up (no jump, just time it), 1 for throwing it, and one sideflip for grab. great video btw!

Good video, I'm glad to see someone else trying to beat games with the minimum amount of button presses with the help of TAS because I think that shows effort to try to optimize as much as possible (And maybe it's silly what I'm about to say but doesn't the strat called "right side" in Bowser in the sky save some button presses? I haven't given it much thought, so I'm probably wrong)

You can get up the final slope of Bowser in the Dark World by grinding on the side of it with a specific angle to travel upward on it. You can see this in action in ivan178’s video of completing the level in 0 A presses RTA

I predicted in the community post that there would be over 200 I had no idea that there would be even more than that and 200 was just the menu presses 😂

If there was 1 less button press in the last part, then the gameplay presses after each Bowser fight is the same as the total presses after the previous one

there is a lesser known techniche to clip past the chain chomp with a cork box, which oonly requires you to grab and release it and than jump into the star. this would save 2 button presses, as this could replace a star that requires 5.

You deserve more subs

a lot of button presses can be saved: examples: grinding can save an 2 presses from the staircase careful positioned falls to ledge grab (at least one) grinding for a double jump to save like 2 presses i think on the last bowser stages the first star in bobomb battlefield can be done in presses due to the fact that you can grind to insta release him and then kopa the quick would require 1 a press and the box star in bombomb battlefield can be done with 3 presses (2 groundpounds, 1 to get wing cap, 1 to break the box and another one to shoot out of a cannon and i think it can be done with 2 if you can get wing cap without groundpounding) and the clip can be done without pressing a single button, go to the bomb, activate it and make it clip you thru the cage, it is quite hard but it saves 5 presses, also from what i know the quirk box from the beginning can be used to clip thru too, saving 3 presses if you go with that also grinding is a weird state where mario alterates from being on the ground and being in the air every frame, so you can use it for an instant double jump or just not be effected by the slipperyness of the ground, really important, it is done on the edge also it is intresting how no pedro spots where used to maybe do some speed thing a lot of optimizations but it is getting close to TAS levels to do it

it would be cool if you did kirby super star ultra with the minimum button presses. tip: you can use the circle pad on the 3ds (using backwards compatibillity) to move buttonless.

I could have sworn you could use the left analogue stick to scroll through any textboxes with a triangle at the end, so you'd only have to press a button at the end. Maybe that was a different N64 game? I distinctly remember wiggling the stick to get through a bunch of text and I'm pretty sure it was Mario 64.

I liked this one a bit more than your galaxy video, although I notice you still try to point out an issue with what you are doing and then give an excuse, which feels strange because I personally wasn't considering it. In this video the example was "You may think it's strange to do the stages in this order", which I would either be someone who watched SM64 content and not question it, or you could have also just sequenced the video differently. It's a strange thing to bring up, it feels like you are doubting yourself. Tremendous effort though, keep it up, can you do pikmin with the least amount of pikmin throws?
