🌍 Uranus is the seventh planet in the solar system, the third in diameter and the fourth in mass. It was discovered in 1781 by the English astronomer William Herschel and was named after the Greek sky god Uranus.
Uranus is the most mysterious and least studied planet of the solar system. When in 1986 the Voyager 2 space station transmitted images of this ice giant to Earth, scientists called the blue planet "inexpressive" since it has no bright bands, like Jupiter, no prominent rings, like Saturn, and in terms of temperature indicators, Uranus is even colder than Neptune, which is farther from the Sun.
However, despite this ordinary appearance, Uranus has unique characteristics. A remarkable magnetosphere, an unusual axial tilt that differs from the rest of the planets in the solar system, and a particular chemical composition...
🔥 As a reminder, the videos are published on SUNDAYS at 6:00 PM.
-------------------------
💥 The Mysterious Planet Uranus:
- Uranus is the third largest planet in the solar system. At 25,362 km, Uranus' radius is slightly larger than Neptune's. It is also the seventh planet from the Sun. Beyond it there is only Neptune, if we do not take into account the dwarf planet Pluto.
The mass of the planet has been determined by calculations based on astronomical observations of the gravitational influence that Uranus exerts on its moons. Although the volume of Uranus is 63 times larger than that of our Earth, its mass is only 14.5 times larger than the Earth, which makes it the least massive of the giant planets of the solar system.
This is due to the fact that the average density of Uranus is 1.27 g/cm3, a little more than that of water. Thus, it is the second least dense planet in the solar system, after Saturn. These low densities are typical of the four giant planets, which are composed mainly of light chemical elements.
The planet Uranus is located at a little more than 19 astronomical units from the Sun, i.e. 19 times farther than the Earth from the Sun, i.e. about 2.9 billion km, so its orbital motion is hardly perceptible and requires long term observations.
Following an elongated orbit, Uranus can reach a maximum distance, called aphelion, of about 20 astronomical units and a minimum distance, called perihelion, of 18 astronomical units from the star. By the way, Uranus has the biggest difference between aphelion and perihelion than any other planet of the solar system.
Since the planets of the solar system are constantly in motion, the distance between them changes daily. Thus, at its closest, Uranus is 2.7 billion kilometers from the Earth.
For a long time, it was impossible to determine the rotation period of Uranus around its axis from observations made from Earth. It was only when the Voyager 2 probe flew close to Uranus, that it turned out that the rotation of the latter around its axis takes 17 hours and 14 minutes.
But gas giants do not rotate like rocky planets. The speeds differ according to the latitudes. Since in the upper layers of the atmosphere, the winds blow at a speed of up to 240 m / s, in the direction of rotation of the planet, the clouds there can make a complete revolution around the planet in only 14 hours.
As the rotation axis of Uranus is almost in the plane of its orbit, it moves around the Sun in a rolling motion. This characteristic is unique in our Solar System. All the other planets turn around our star like a top. This is one of the most remarkable phenomena of Uranus, which remains unexplained.

It would have to be beer. A shot of hard liquor at every mention of Uranus would approach Jim Morrison levels of Ride-The-Snake... I would give a bollock to be a substitute science teacher and show this video in an 8th-grade Science class. Education as we know it would descend into a hellish Bedlam. There's just enough legitimate science and a few minutes-long breaks from the word, "Uranus" to lull you into a sense of, "Okay, class, this will be on the test..." but it's a class of 8th-graders and chaos has erupted...from Uranus. 13-year-old dudes would be falling out of their phucking desks gasping for breath...and then I'd pretend to be a "responsible adult" and admonish them to settle down, like "Full Metal Jacket" for kids.

@@LynxStarAuto I checked out some of this channel's other content and it's not like a constant prank channel; I found no other apparent cheeky-monkeyness. Obviously the professional tendency over the past decade or so has been to pronounce the planet's name, "UR-en-us", moving the emphatic syllable from 2nd out of 3 to 1st and losing the Long-A vowel. This move was probably initiated by middle-school teachers. I think they just said, "We are going to do a very serious professional presentation as usual, but return to "Your Anus" for this video because we want this shown in a classroom and we want grown adults to honk beverages through their noses for 70 minutes of unmitigated psychosis". And my hat's off to them...as are my trousers.

I’ve had interest in Astronomy since I was a kid. When I was 10 years old I paid 4/5 bucks for a mail order, Brass Bound telescope, that also doubled as a microscope! It was brass bound alright, as it had two thin non polished, Brass shaped rings, one for the eye piece and the other for the end cap with the front lens, which were attached to a couple of cardboard tubes! The height of my sky watching adventures with my handheld, brass bound telescope, other than the Moon, was looking at stars that were clearly out of focus, and getting the shit scared out of me because of how much the star’s looked like spidery monster’s! It’s rare that I am highly engaged by most of the video’s I have previously watched about different astronomical topics on KZfaq. However, this one has been such a pleasure to watch and listen to. Sometimes the problem I’ve had with the other videos I’ve checked out, is that the title and the content don’t seem to really match up. So, if the title says, Voyager 1 just found something super scary, the majority of the video is a rehash of the whole voyager program, which seems to be presented on just about every video concerning itself with that particular theme, that we are deep shit, with this new discovery, which I never actually get to see, because I get board and stop watching the video.

I've always wondered if a moon of Uranus was called a hemorrhoid? I'd have to wipe that trip off my list!! It's most popular exercise would be the runs! And it takes so long to get there I'd get the $hits just waiting to arrive! Nothing worse then a sunburn on Uranus! Don't go there! It's crappy! Uranas stinks! Lol... Yes sick humour... But it has to be done! Lol

You said it’s “the seventh planet in the solar system, the third in diameter and the fourth in mass…” third, fourth WHAT in diameter and mass? Oh, I’m guessing you mean “the third largest in diameter” and “fourth most massive” I think? Lol. And Uranus does have rings; maybe you just meant that, at the time of Voyager, the scientists didn’t initially notice them? Cause they are vertically rotating though, due to the planet’s tilt of about 90°, compared with Earth’s.

The new element Uranium was named after the recently discovered planet, Uranus. So, do you pronounce Uranium as You-Rah-Nee-um? No, you don't, you pronounce it You-Ray-Nee-Um, and Uranus was originally pronounced You-Ray-Nus in English, despite people like you wanting to rewrite history. If you're embarrassed to pronounce it the correct way, that's fine, but do *NOT* pretend that isn't the original pronunciation in English.
