Christian men always say “roles” to try and justify women not being able to be equal in the church.

Amen...This is what I try to explain to my husband...I need my husband to fill his shoes that God gave him. I cannot train up my son as a man, he needs to do that. ..I can show my son and explain what God says what women are to do and behave...but the man, husband, and father is to do that by practicing and demonstrating it..Husband should not be expecting the wife to be his equal as a man..but as a woman according to God's biblical instructions. A woman is equal before God in a spiritual sense but not to take the place of what God says in his word that belongs to the man!! In conclusion, I can teach my son how a human being is to seek god and follow his instructions through his word, by explaining what God's word says about how a man should conduct himself, but in the end... if a father is living in the household...whatever he believes will be transmitted to the male child, Godly or ungodly. Hopefully it is godly! Men take your place and bring them up according to God so that your sons will continue God's legacy of becoming a spirit filled, godly man, husband, and father. If the household does not have a father....of course the mother will be instructing the male child...what the bible says what a man is ...not our version of what a man is. This also goes for women to their daughters, to grow their daughters as God said to train them up.

Great word. I used to be Senior Pastor of a mega-Church. I have a Masters Degree in Theology. God showed me ten years ago- that I needed to resign. God does not want us women in ministry, because we rule with emotions. However I think the problem is feminism, it is a cancer in the CHurch and in society. I don't blame the men at all. I have now joined a fellowship where women are silent in all Church meetings, it is really liberating to serve behind the scenes and not to try to do something that I am not called or gifted for.

Being emotional is Christlike, not a female weakness: John 11:33-35: "33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, he was greatly disturbed in spirit and deeply moved. 34 He said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to him, “Lord, come and see.” 35 Jesus began to weep." Matthew 26:37-38: "37 He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be grieved and agitated. 38 Then he said to them, “I am deeply grieved, even to death; " I don't know your calling, but I do hope that no one tried to knock your confidence unjustly. I see strong females who should be preaching more and hold back for fear of criticism from those who don't even seek to reach out and take a lead themselves. I currently have a problem with male pastors acting inappropriately towards females and none of the other pastors seem to say anything. I now only attend the Ladies group at the church because I can't deal with it, yet this pastor doesn't let us leave the building without hugging him, even after that group. I see that the Ladies leading in there know more of the scriptures and the men who can't attend that group are missing out on Sundays when the senior pastor is preaching.

There is one thing none can dispute within the body of believers. If you wake daily to the pulling of teaching God’s people you can not deny that. The Holy Spirit will not lie to you. I believe any woman called to preach or teach had better know that she is being led and not acting for other reasons. I have no problem with anyone teaching as long as it is the truth. We all do that daily as believers through our testimonies. Well, when applying Scripture to the testimony. You basically are teaching at that moment. I agree one hundred percent that if man was doing what he was called to do there would be no need for God to allow women to be in these positions. I think all women desire a good leader but so many men have failed it’s now no turning back. I thank God for his Spirit because the Spirit will lead all to the truth.

Now comes one of the first contemporary novels portraying a female pastor in the evangelical community, highlighting the tension and controversy surrounding her leadership role. From the pen of bestselling author Randall Arthur, the story takes place in a small Georgia town with plenty of colorful characters and drama. A riveting, true-to-life story that will challenge, entertain and inspire. “I have read few stories that have pulled me in like A Quiet Roar. It confronts the very cultural foundations of the North American church. This is a must read.” - Dr. Butch Entrekin, Community Bible Church “You had me on the tip of my toes from the start of the book till the end of the book. The book is bold, honest, educational, and inspiring.” - Anna Strawn, Junior, Auburn University “Praise for A Quiet Roar. Mr. Arthur has a gift of drawing you into his story from the first page. A Quiet Roar has made an impact on my life unlike any other book. It will continue in my heart and life for a long time.” - Jimmy Cochran, columnist for the Henry Times. “Over the years I have read a ton-and I mean a ton of books. After all, my work as a pastor requires I read, read, and read some more. If you read no other novel this coming year, please please please read A Quiet Roar. Take a hot topic -female pastors; add a lot of small town church drama; a mysterious woman; and even more mysterious benefactor; a dash of contemporary culture and world events; and I kid you not, you have a recipe for a lot of sleepless nights. I guarantee your life and faith will no longer be the same.” - Bill Grandi, Senior Pastor. A Quiet Roar is available now on Amazon (both in paperback and e-book versions) and is also available at www.RandallArthur.com.

The underlining issue is “godliness”. We must examine our motives. Truth is most of us are unwilling by nature of our sinful flesh to submit to God, let alone to fleshly authority. The question is, what’s in your heart. Is it in your heart to serve? To build up the body of Christ? To submit to God and so His will? To deny yourself, to esteem others as more excellent than yourself? In that we must seek our roles. It’s not about our egos. It’s about glorifying God. I should not as a woman want to go into researching scriptures on this matter with a motive to underline any bias I might already hold. I should want to know whatever God says, really. And that I will want to do. If God truly wants me to be quiet, then I will want to be quiet because my spirit wants to please Him! If God wants me to teach, in order to edify and strengthen the church, then I be damned if I ignore such a calling! Discernment, prayer, Holy Spirit, ultimately having a heart of a submissive servant of God, is what it is. Only God truly knows our hearts and we ought to be very afraid of lying to God and acting as if we were entitled to anything. We are bought with a price, we are not our own. As far as Timothy goes, look up the word “authentein” in Greek. Very interesting word study. Truth is that wether you’re a man or a woman, not everyone is even meant to teach either for lack of understanding scripture, or being immature as a Christian. So before we try and grab a hold of any teaching position we must be so careful not to take on a role we are not called to fulfil regardless of gender. Teachers will be judged more harshly, so the responsibility is greater.

And where does it say that in the Word of GOD? It doesn't. Debra was a judgment on Barak to get him to do what he was supposed to do. Deborah said, Judges 5:7 "The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel." Please read in context. Shalom.

@@CC..Jeremiah9_24 To answer your question, the answer is found in the book of Judges 4:4-5 and it reads: "Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, judged Israel at that time. She sat under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites came up to her for judgment. (The Amplified Bible, New American Standard, NKJV bible translations have similar passages). God called her to be a judge over Israel. The function of a judge was to be a deliverer, a leader to the nation. Deborah was Not only a judge, but also a prophetess. (The prophet Samuel was also a judge to Israel). God was not surprised that she was a woman and He does not make mistakes. She was HIS chosen vessel. She obeyed GOD despite what society said about women's role at that time. Because she was following God's call for her life, she received favor and respect of her people. Let her be an example to every godly woman who is answering God's call for her life. Blessings!

Ryan...Mary was NOT an Evangelist in a ascension gift ministry (Eph 4). She was an evangelist in the sense that all believers are because we are all called to share the gospel. The bible is sooo clear it can only be misunderstood by those who refuse to obey the laws of plain english. E.G. When the bible wants you to know someone is an Evangelist it says: On the next day we who were Paul’s companions departed and came to Caesarea, and entered the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and stayed with him. Acts 21:8 NKJV

I’ve recently had this conviction. After Shari g with my wife, I understand that it is hard to know what glorified God in practice. We are currently searching for a new church community that is more similar to us and also honors this biblical teaching. We are both 23 and it’s difficult to find where we’re from. For example, we have been to a church where the pastor often teaches in collaboration with his wife. So in what context, if any, are women aloud to co-teach.

The only thing I don't understand is what I, as a woman, can say to a man. If I want to speak Biblical truth to share the Gospel, am I allowed to do that? I don't mean as a pastor, but just out of the abundance of the Spirit that lives within me.

I agree with the content in your video and with some others you have done. I've noticed that a lot of viewers disagree strongly. Disagreement and scriptural confrontation is good for correction. Shouldn't the disagreements be based scriptural precepts? A non-biblical position does not shape scripture. The Creator wants scripture to shape the creature.

I think she should be mindful of how she shares, just as a man should be mindful. But, I don't see an issue with that. By all means, share what God has done in your life and how he has brought you thus far. My caution would be in using that as an opportunity to preach. If it's starting to seem like taking on the role of the pastor, then we're headed for a bit of trouble. But, if you're just sharing your story, any number of lessons can be learned from your experiences. That's different than teaching the Sunday morning sermon.

*Real Truth. Real Quick. You have to understand to whom Paul was ADDRESSING & WHY* . . . Timothy was a young man. Probably late teens or early twenties. And that whole church was full of not only Baby Believers, but young Believers that came out of a Pagan Lifestyle. And Paul was ADMONISHING for Timothy to get some *GUSTO* (Rhema from Heaven) . .. *GUSTO* ARCHAIC a relish or liking. "he had a particular gusto for those sort of performances" 2. ARCHAIC style of artistic execution. Why? ... because the children of YAHWEH in that Church became out of order. Just like in the Church of Corinth. He told the men that he wished they would pray lifting holy hands without being angry. Why? Because they were not praying. And instead arguing, or had their hands in the air, because the woman were praying, possibly at home & at church. And they may have heard from the Holy Spirit. But the men, did not. And the woman were taking over. They fell out of order. A woman CAN Teach & Preach. But must not LORD herself over the man, the way evil people do; the world. You know like you see in politics. It was going so awry. Timothy wrote to Paul for help. Paul wrote back with Admonition & Encouragement & so as for Timothy to Share the Letters to keep order. Paul even made mention to thank Timothy's Mother & Grandmother for helping in this manner, because they were out of order. HE did say there is no male or female, jew or gentile, free or bond: because all are ONE IN THE LORD YAHUSHUA. MALACHI 2 . . . HE addressed the Priests because they were dealing ABUSIVELY (Treacherously) with their own wives. *And it is a prophecy for today. HE is angry at the unholy Teaching of the Priests, especially about divorce* . . . Not sure what this Church Org stance is on Divorce. But YAHUSHUA told those who asked about Divorce that Moses gave the Writing of Divorce because their HEARTS were HARDENED. *HARDENED* adjective 1. having become or been made hard or harder. "hardened steel" experienced in a particular job or activity and therefore not easily upset by its more unpleasant aspects. "hardened police officers" synonyms: inured, desensitized, deadened, accustomed, habituated, acclimatized, used; coarsened; rareindurate "he was hardened to the violence he had seen and inflicted" antonyms: unaccustomed utterly fixed in a habit or way of life seen as bad. "hardened criminals" synonyms: *INVETERATE,* seasoned, habitual, chronic, compulsive, confirmed, accustomed, dyed-in-the-wool; through and through; *INCORRIGIBLE,* incurable, irredeemable, impenitent, unreformable, unregenerate, reprobate, obdurate, shameless "a hardened criminal" antonyms: infrequent *HARDEN* verb make or become more severe and less sympathetic. "she hardened her heart" synonyms: toughen, desensitize, inure, make insensitive, make tough, make unfeeling, case-harden, harden someone's heart; deaden, numb, benumb, anaesthetize; brutalize, make callous; rareindurate "their suffering had hardened them" *INVETERATE* adjective having a particular habit, activity, or interest that is long-established and unlikely to change. "he was an inveterate gambler" synonyms: ingrained, deep-seated, deep-rooted, deep-set, entrenched, established, long-established, congenital; ineradicable, *INCURABLE, IRREDEEMABLE* "mankind's inveterate pride and stupidity" (of a feeling or habit) long-established and unlikely to change. synonyms: confirmed, hardened, chronic, hard-core, incorrigible; habitual, addicted, compulsive, obsessive, obsessional; informal pathological, hooked "an inveterate gambler" staunch, steadfast, committed, devoted, dedicated; deep-dyed, dyed-in-the-wool, thorough, thoroughgoing, out and out, diehard, long-standing "an inveterate Democrat" *they would not change their abusive behavior or and also their cheating behavior - plain & simple - and it can go both ways* *INCORRIGIBLE* adjective 1. (of a person or their tendencies) not able to be corrected, improved, or reformed. "she's an incorrigible flirt" synonyms: inveterate, habitual, confirmed, hardened; incurable, unreformable, irreformable, irredeemable, intractable, hopeless, beyond hope/redemption; chronic, diehard, deep-dyed, dyed-in-the-wool, long-standing, addicted, hard-core; impenitent, uncontrite, unrepentant, unapologetic, unashamed; informalimpossible "she's an incorrigible flirt" *THEY WANTED TO GO AFTER OTHER WOMAN. THEY DIVORCED BECAUSE THEY NO LONGER LOVED THEIR WIVES & WANTED SOMEONE ELSE. THEY ALSO BEGAN TO ABUSE THEM. AS IT IS TO THIS DAY. HE IS ANGRY FOR SHEPHERDS TELLING WOMAN TO GO BACK TO THEIR ABUSIVE HUSBANDS & SHEPHERDS NOT HELPING AN ABUSED WOMAN TO FIND SAFETY.* *Many woman have lost their lives due to their Abusive Husbands - even those who professed to be Christians - sad to say* Just saying. Not sure what this Church teaches regarding these thing. but *a woman can MOST DEF, DEF, DEFINITELY Teach & Preach, IF she is ORDAINED of the Lord YAHUSHUA* and not by the World Secular Council of Churches either. But by YAHWEH HIMSELF. .... continued .....

Amen. 18 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, *that thou by them mightest war a good warfare* ; 19 *Holding faith, and a good conscience* ; *which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck* : 20 Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme. *BASICALLY, PAUL DID NOT WANT TIMOTHY TO FALL INTO WHAT AARON DID, WHILE MOSES WENT UP THE MOUNTAIN & CAME DOWN WITH THE 2 STONE TABLETS. AARON CRASHED & COMPROMISED BY LETTING THEM MAKE THE GOLDEN CALF & HE HELPED THEM EVEN. - PAUL WAS GIVING HIM ENCOURAGEMENT TO TAKE A STAND.* *1 TIMOTHY 2* 7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity. 8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. 9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. 11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. *SEE, PAUL WAS MAKING AN ADDRESS FOR THEM WHO WERE GENTILE BELIEVERS* *MEN WERE NOT PRAYING - AND THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN - THEY WERE NOT IN CONTROL OF THEIR HOUSEHOLDS* *HE ADDRESSED THE WOMEN WHOM IT WAS APPARENT WERE NOT IN GODLY APPAREL - BUT AFTER THE EPHESIAN WAY OF DRESS MORE THAN LIKELY* *VERSE 11 _NUMBER 11 means TROUBLE - CONFUSION - DISORDER - THEY WERE UNLEARNED - GOES BACK TO VERSE 10, THEY WERE NOT A DOER OF THE WORD - THEY NEEDED TO STUDY & LEARN* . . . *NO ONE WILL LET AN UNLEARNED PERSON TEACH* (Okay, well, it has been made clear by the LORD YAHWEH, than many in the Churches of North America have let in wicked people: because they give tithes, to preach & teach & lead. When they do not have any formal works of faith to back them up. But it was their offerings that put them in that position. Sad to say. I am not saying this Church either.) *IF THE PERSON IS LEARNED - WOMAN & ORDAINED OF YAHWEH & HER WORKS BACK IT UP. THEN SHE IS ABLE TO TEACH & PREACH* NOTICE IN VERSE 10 HE SAID *WITH GOOD WORKS* . . . HE WAS SAYING THEY *SHOWED NO GOOD WORKS* HE HAD TO HELP ADDRESS WHAT WAS GOING ON THERE. Christ has specified the role of leadership for the men in the church-elders (1 Tim. 3:1-7), deacons (1 Tim. 3:8-13), preachers and worship leaders (1 Tim. 2:1-12; 4:13-16). Christ has therefore specified a role of submission for the women in the church. While this concept is highly unpopular in today’s culture, it is, nevertheless, His plan. Let us consider what the New Testament teaches in this regard. Women are called to “learn in silence with all submission” (1 Tim. 2:11). This emphasizes a spirit of attentiveness and receptiveness, which a woman of God has toward the male leaders in the church. The woman is not inferior to the man or of less worth or the target of discrimination, any more than Christ is inferior to God (cf. 1 Cor. 11:3). It is a matter of roles that have been assigned.

"You need to call those men into account" - isn't that exercising spiritual authority over men? The way men have shown "authority" over women is so perverted and evil that any suggestion that it's biblical is to make God a misogynist. What usually comes to mind is power, control, abuse, domination with coercion and physical strength. Unfortunately, feminism tried to fix this legitimate problem and made things much worse. I think this misunderstanding is a real stumbling block to people becoming Christians. It doesn't help that the church as a whole can't seem to understand or agree on the biblical verses pertaining to women and reputable scholars and apologists will have rather differing conclusions.

The abuse of a principle does not make the principle wrong. Cops sometimes abuse their authority. Should we get rid of police? Of course not, that would be insane. There are also countless good husbands who exercise spiritual authority over their wives correctly. Don't "throw the baby out with the bath water".

1 tim 2 and 1 cor 14;35 in 1 tim paul talks about ONE woman who was not allowed to teach ONE man because she usurped authority over the man. no believer has the right to usurp the authority over the other. nor man nor a woman. paul used singular form in that passage and spoke about one specific woman. not to women in general. especially that just a few verses earlier paul was addressing the issue of modesty and spoke about women in general, in PLURAL form. God does know the difference between plural and singular. in 1 cor 14;35 where it says that women are not allowed to speak in church paul meant that women were not supposed to CHAT (disturb by talking, chatting) in the church. a few verses earlier in that same chapter paul was saying in verse 26 paul says "How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying." - that means that each, whether a man or a woman is supposed to share a teaching, a revelation, or any other thing they receive from God in order to edify the church. col 3;16 "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." - again, the same paul says here that we all are to TEACH and ADMONISH one another when we gather together. also in 1 cor 11 paul (3 chapters earlier) paul talks about women praying and prophesying in church - so he could not mean in 1 cor 14;35 that women cannot speak. most teaching on the subject of family and women's role are based on man's traditions and ignorance and pride, not on the Word of God. which is very sad. additionally, pastor is not a position of authority not a title. it is a role and a function. being a pastor means you take care of the sheep, of other believers, help them in whatever they need you to do. you dont even have to teach others. you are a care giver. also, in 1 tim 2;5 we read that there is only One Mediator between God and men. when you accept another person, another human being as your head, authority or a priest/pastor then you make that person an antichrist because they stand in the PLACE of Christ. the Lord Yeshu Hamashiyah said in mat 23;10 "Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ." there is only ONE AUTHORITY over us and that is only Lord Yeshu Hamashiyah. the Bible says that husband and wife are one flesh so they are one head and they are both submitted to the only Headship of the Lord Yeshu Hamashiyah and they are to be submitted one to another (eph 5;21). when you look at people through their gender you look at them through their flesh... that is being carnally minded.

This is the problem. Phebe was a deacon. And Paul recommended other women who were in ministry. This kind of teaching has put a stumbling block between women and the fellowship through the Holy Spirit. It has hindered the move of the Spirit in Christ's called out ones, preventing the gifts of the Spirit from being mannafest when the Ecclesia gathers together. We are to be in the Spirit in our gatherings, not mindful of the flesh, so that by the Spirit, each may give a testimony, a hymn, a prayer, prophecy, tongue and interpretation etc. The scriptures being used to silence women in the gatherings are and have been taken out of context, and I believe it is why there is so little power mannafested in the church in America and Europe.

@Kenneth Sinsel in Christ there is no male or female, bond or free, Jew or gentile. We have put on Christ. We are to be one new man, so making peace. Phoebe was a deacon. All those in Christ have a ministry of reconciliation. According to suppressors like you would forbid women from bearing fruit which glorifies God. We are all members of a royal priesthood. We are all members in particular of the body of Christ. The Holy Spirit can speak through any one of us. Unless of course, He's limited by rules of men who forbid at least half the members of their group from speaking at all. God protect any woman in your group from even breathing too loudly. I'm sure she would be excoriated publicly. If not beaten near to death.

@Kenneth Sinsel I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea: Romans 16:1 The word translated as servant is the greek word diakonos - deacon. Same word Paul used in 1 Timothy 3:8 You might want to remember, that it was the women who were first at the tomb, and they told the others that Christ was risen. It was a woman who anointed Jesus for His burial. The 120 in the upper room included women, who were also filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues. Spoke the wonderful works of God. I really don't care what you think, I know what the scriptures say, and women are not excluded from the work of the Holy Spirit. There is an enmity between the serpent and women.

@Kenneth Sinsel Jesus never excluded women, neither did the Holy Spirit. I won't go to your kind's assemblies. You persecute and scare off more than you bring to the Lord. The Holy Spirit ministers through women as easily as men. Women did not hold the office, were not in charge, but they did and still do minister whatever gift and calling God sets for them If you won't allow a woman to minister to you, that's not Godliness, that's a stronghold. You're basically saying that women should take their talent and bury it, or hide it. Which Jesus warned us not to do. You disallow the moving of the Holy Spirit.. That's not good.

God does not want women to teach and preach, and "usurp the authority" of men. He has forbidden it, for it is the Lord Christ himself who has given the command, through the apostle Paul. "As in all the congregations of the saints, 34 women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. 35 If they want to enquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for **it is disgraceful for a woman** to speak in the church. 36 Did the word of God originate with you? Or are you the only people it has reached? 37 If anybody thinks he is a prophet or spiritually gifted, **let him acknowledge** that what I am writing to you is *the Lord's* command. 38 If he ignores this, he himself will be ignored." 1 Corinthians 14:33-38 (ANIV) . As it is the Lord's command, that is the end of all rebellious arguments, for they run opposite to what the Lord himself has commanded. The authentic humble "Daughters of Sarah" will be eager and pleased to obey. The rebellious daughters of the "Devil and his angels" will contend to do the very opposite. For they have come under the curse of God as St. Paul has well warned they would do. " That's why God will send them a powerful delusion so that they will believe a lie. 12 Then everyone who did not believe the truth, but was delighted with what God disapproves of, will be condemned." 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 (GW)

His treatment of 1 Tim 2.12 is appalling. He takes no account of the situation this letter was written to address - false teaching in a city (Ephasis) dominated by the temple cult of the godess Artemis. He doesn't mention that the word 'authority' is 'authentein in the Greek and appears only here in the whole New Testament. It is much debated what it means, but many agree it has the connotation of violence and oppression, perhaps sexual oppression. Why doesn't Paul use the normal word he uses for authority elsewhere, 'exousia'? Woman is singular - not 'women', but a 'woman'. Is someone specific in mind here? 'Permit/Allow' - the word epitrepo and its present tense suggests this prohibition is for a time only - not a blanket prohibition of all women everywhere. And of course, in verse 11 Paul says that a woman should learn (imperative!) without being disrupted. This is the same attitude Jesus had when he allowed Mary to learn at his feat - the place of a disciple - revolutionary for the time when the education of women was frowned upon. In fact, Paul uses the same language used of any male disciple at that time - that they should learn in all submission. Paul and Jesus elevated women above the cultural restrictions of the time. The truth of 1 Tim 2 isn't that all women everywhere should be forbidden to teach but that at that time a women was allowed to learn and for the time being, not be allowed to teach, until she had learned. Of course, the subtlety of this type of reading of the Bible might be lost on those determined to ignore the original language and rip verses out of their historical, cultural and literary context to create laws that, in this case, prohibit all women everywhere from being restored to their God ordained position of standing with and co-ruling the earth with men. As I listen to this man I'm convinced that we are looking at the new Pharisaism - making laws where there should be no laws.

Geoff Halpin I agree, Anna was a leader in the temple the days of Jesus birth, Deborah was a judge. He has to look at the historical treatment of women at that time and Paul giving a temporal advice due to the chaos that were erupting women not wanting to be silent anymore.

The Bible does not say Anna was a leader. It says she was a prophet. Also Deborah was the exception not the rule. The point behind deborah's role was that the men of Israel at the time were not competent enough to lead so God had to use the next best thing - that being a woman - to serve as the spiritual leader.

αὐθεντέω authenteō (ow-then-teh'-o) From a compound of αὐτός (autos) and ἕντης (hentēs) (obsolete; a worker); to act of oneself, that is, (figuratively) dominate: - usurp authority over. usurp is defined as 'To illegally take" so the translation of authority in 1 timothy 2:12 means that a woman is to not illegally take authority over men. however if the men willingly give it up or refuse to step up to be the authority, that is a different story

Why do some churches have women in the MOST SENIOR positions (eg The Salvation Army?) if it is forbidden in scripture? Does that make the Salvation Army (one of the most respected Christian organisations in the world) something other than a Godly organisation? God made man according to His own image and likeness. Man AND woman He made them. Same fullness. In Christ differences in man-woman cease to exist. We ALL with unveiled faces reflect His glory and are being changed into His Image from glory to glory by the Spirit who is the Lord. Same fullness. It is common knowledge that the early churchfathers added, manipulated the word of God. So just saying: it is written, without Spirit revelation by Holy Spirit can do a lot of harm. I know woman that preach that are in error, i know man that preach and are a horrible representation of how Christ intented life to be. Truth doesn't change. We are all complete in Christ. Man and woman alike. And grow in to Him in all things. Col 2:9-10. The fullness of deity dwells in Jesus bodily and YOU HAVE BEEN MADE COMPLETE IN HIM (the last Adam!) who is the head of all principality and power. Because of what God did in Christ you automatically became what you are already. A new creation in Christ. A partaker of the divine nature for free. 2 Pet 1:3-4. We awake by the Spirit to that fact and grow in to Him, the normal divine nature, for free. Because of His great love for us, His creation. 2 Cor 3:18. Out of His fullness we have received. Good news, joy unspeakable. God came, took us in and restored us back to original created value to walk as Jesus. As He is.... so are we. All that is His is ours. The Father in Christ and Christ in us. Seamless oneness. For free. Yay! Thank you Jesus for opening our eyes to the inexpressible riches, the normal divine nature, we have received in You. Women. Preach it, teach it, live it! You are so equally in!!! Let's share the good news.

What if a husband wants a baby and the wife just doesn't ever want a baby for non-medical reason (busy, work, travelling, studies, enjoy life, slim body, etc). Is this called not submitting to husband? Don't wives have the rights to their own body?
@Cas2704
@Cas2704 5 жыл бұрын
Great question spicy... I would never force my wife to have kids, but I would always kindly remind her of what is truth. The truth is that we should never do anything out of selfish ambition (Philippians 2:3). I would help her understand that being vain and desiring to live for ourselves is not what God called us to do. And I'd pray that God would reveal our calling, as a husband and wife. I'd have to be patient in this process as I shouldn't grow weary of doing good (Galatians 6:9). So if she wants to keep a slim body, we can adopt and bless a child that otherwise would've never had a home. God called us to be fruitful and multiply. (Genesis 9:7) But the reason for this is so we wouldn't live out of our own selfish ambitions and that we may be ambassadors to our kids in creating followers of Christ.

Ok so how many prophetesses do you have who function in your church? The function being to speak the prophetic word which is direction and correction based. That is what a Prophet does. Because that is what 4 of Timothys daughters did. Are you all going to say they are "not allowed" to do that too? Because they must be quiet in the church. Or maybe, just maybe, you should lookmat the wording Paul used and the context in the original language. Because it is entirely dishonourable to a woman to have spent decades prostrating herself first before God and then before men so they would maybe throw her a crumb, deign to use her in ministry, and stop calling her divisive or out of order for being strong and Godly. Pat answers and NO LIFE GIVING SPIRIT here is there?

Prophesying is not the same as being in authority over men.. i read something the other day that made a lot of sense. How can a woman submit to her husband in the home, and be in authority over him in the church? The word is clear on womens roles and men's roles. Read the scripture for yourself without letting your heart and society deceive you. God and His word will never change

I am shocked. What Paul taught about women is to be understood from a cultural background, just like his teaching on slaves. Women can well be elders as women can well preach on Sundays. Just look at Joyce Meyer. She even had to leave the church because no one was supporting her. Do you really think she should have submitted? Should she stop her ministry because of verses which are to be understood culturally? Your point of view is intolerable. It is so disrespectful. Go on your knees and repent. Seriously!

Youre shocked, perphaps, because you havent heard clear Biblical teaching in a while. Dismissing certain biblical teaching as cultural is a dangerous slope to be on that subtley undermines the very nature of biblical revelation. God bless.

Err Joyce Meyer is a word of faith / prosperity gospel preacher. That’s false teaching. Sorry but that’s a very bad example. I should not as a woman want to go into researching scriptures on this matter with a motive to underline any bias. I should want to know whatever God says, really. And that I will want to do. If God truly wants me to be quiet, then I will want to be quiet because my spirit wants to please Him! If God wants me to teach, in order to edify and strengthen the church, then I be damned if I ignore such a calling! Discernment, prayer, Holy Spirit, ultimately having a heart of a servant, is what it is. Only God truly knows our hearts and we ought to be very afraid of lying to God and acting as if we were entitled to anything. We are bought with a price, we are not our own. As far as Timothy goes, look up the word “authentein” in Greek. Very interesting word study.

Women were asked not to speak because they were disrupting the service at The time of that writing. Women can teach as long as they have a man in a position of authority Over them. Look at Joyce Meyer - One of the most successful women teachers of our time. The Bible says if our right hand causes us to sin cut it off. Does God want us to Mangal our bodies? NO! Sometimes you need to look deeper into the scriptures and stop looking at it one dimensional.

This doesn't take account of who Paul was writing to and what was going on. Timothy was in Ephesus when Paul wrote to him. Ephesus was the epicentre of the worship of Artemis or Diana. In those temples, the women took a strong lead in a pagan worship whereby they were prostitutes and it was all about fertility and virility. The women were used to shouting out and prophesying but not from God and Paul had to urge them now to stop. In 1 Corinthians 11 we see in some bibles that the man is head of the woman, yet in others it is that the husband is head of the wife. That is because in Greek the word for 'man' and 'husband' are the same as are 'woman' and 'wife'. Logically, is every man the head of every woman? Is another man the head of your wife? No. So the translation should read that the husband is head of the wife in the context. At Judges 4 and 5 God chose Deborah to prophesy, not Barak. There is no mention even of her getting permission of her husband, Lapidoth, but she went with Barak, the leader of the army in order to pass on instruction from God to him. God uses whom he chooses and it is not for any of us to go above him if He has called someone. It is a myth that Deborah was chosen because all the men were weak and there is no scripture to support that argument. This is a sermon from Woodland Hills on the subject: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eap4oJqm1dK6Zqs.html

Rebecca Linn I'll definitely pray for you. I need prayer too for similar reasons and also health. To be honest I have come across some attitudes towards women lately that are not only taking scripture out of context, but also quite ungodly and disrespectful in a suggestive manner within church. It has put me off going. In fact the sermon itself was on a subject I really wanted to consider more in depth - the second coming of Christ, since I wasn't brought up with that teaching. I was all ears and all this man did for over an hour was blagg it. He didn't read one scripture, but just told the congregation they should read Ezekiel and Revelation if they wanted to know about it. I have read both before and already had my own opinion on the interpretation of Revelation which is different to a lot of evangelical teaching. I'm going through Ezekiel again as I may have missed something in the past. But hey - who gets up in front of a church and tells them to go home and read it for themselves if they want to understand? This was the pastor! Would it not be better to have a woman than hear that from a man? As I left the building a man I'd never met before made a really weird comment about Genesis 9:18-28, as I had said it was interesting how Noah got drunk and sinned straight after getting out of the ark, yet the 2 sons covered him, while the other actually had exposed him to the others and he was cursed by Noah for that and God allowed it but gave no opinion. I was talking about grace and forgiveness, since this man had learned I'd also been involved in Jehovah's Witnesses in the past, and he still went there occasionally as a student of theirs. The first thing he did when I suggested that God approved of covering our shame, just like Noah's 2 sons had done, was say "Oh well. Perhaps I could leave the ark, get drunk, lie there naked and you could join me?" I felt creeped out and it so reminded me of the attitudes I experienced when a young widow of a JW at their meetings. No Holy Spirit back there back then and none in this place either. So I know exactly how you feel as a single female with those attitudes around.

Ephesians 4 - gifts were given to men (generic meaning men and women) pastors, apostles, teachers, prophets. According to this man, we will teach Christian girls they are excluded from the gifts of pastors, apostles and teachers and likely only prophesy when given permission. They will be saved through child bearing. Really? I don't think this man is trained in hermeneutics. Let's handle the word correctly and rise up to full maturity in the church. Please..... let God determine the giftings, not men. We are living in days where we need the full muscle of the church exercising through men and women. Blessings.

@@thomasdonohue1833 Thomas, I don't know. My guess is the status of women made it impossible for women to succeed as apostles at that time. Jewish women weren't taught the Torah for a start. The Jewish Talmud also colours the culture with extreme views regarding women. We must remember that women have the Spirit in them that raised Christ from the dead. He chooses who to give gifts to. Remember also, the gifts are given to build the church. We need to be operating fully as a body without men thinking they need to carry all the spiritual weight. Everyone is missing out. Blessings.
