This is an interesting theory but there’s to much speculation when it comes to the illagers causing it.

Lapis has soul powers illagees wanted to make life hence why you find wool statues of what looks like Steve but didn’t work that’s why zombies don’t attack illagers and when you find wool statues they have lapis in the middle and since it didn’t work instead of Steve, zombies
