The slant height of this cone is the length of the sides of the cone taken from vertex to the outer line of the circular base. It is denoted by ‘l’. The altitude of a right cone is the perpendicular line from the vertex to the centre of the base. 0:56 Shouldn't the points in the sector be A, O, and A, since the circle wraps around back to the same point? Wouldn't the sector A, O, B only be half of the lateral area of a cone

Note that if you measure in _radians_ instead of degrees, theta = (arc length / arc radius) = (2*pi * r) / l, making it simpler to form the equation for lateral surface area and arrive at the answer. E.g: lateral surface area = 2pi * l^2 * (theta / full circle) = 2pi * l^2 * (2*pi*r/l radians) / (2*pi radians) = 2pi * l^2 * r/l = 2pi * l * r

The label on the video is incorrect. Arc AB is half the circumference if AB is a diameter. What you meant to say is that the sector goes from point A around the circumference back to point A, An animation showing the unwrapping of the cone would show that.

look at it as a fraction of the whole circle, imagine the angle theta is 90 degrees so it would become one quarter of the circle, or 180 degrees so it become 1/2 of the circle then calculate it. 90/360 or 180/360 or 30/360.

AB are labeled such that the line segment AB forms a diameter across the base. Yet, arc AB forms a... full circle? ABA or BAB, maybe. But AB is only half a circle.
