The Copernican model has been disproved but unfortunately it has become a religious dogma for many. On a geocentric earth the movement of the luminaries are not complicated, thats just what we were told by dishonest men who wanted to govern the minds of the public. The average person won't take the time to learn the actual observations and compare them to the Copernican model therefore they put their faith in those who have memorized a model and answered the questions on a test correctly in order to receive a title. Those who have put so much time and energy into such a model are the least likely to scrap or alter it when shown its flaws. In the spirit of Swamiji I have spent many years studying many branches of science and syncretizing them. Of course all of this is within me the self.

Great lecture. > And even the idea of 'empty space' is bound up in cause/effect - space/time paradigm which cannot describe ultimate reality - a higher unity. Our senses point outward or forward in a direction leading to inferences that always result in circular reasoning. Actually we don't experience matter, space time, but instead only can experience the senses processed mentally. Here is only actually knowing itself. Awareness. Knowing knowing knowing. And the image or dream world remains as it actually is - the face of Brahman - but which is not materially.

Another insightful talk by Swami Atmarupanandaji. Does the world exist in the absence of the perceiving self - "Drishti Shristi Vada" says no. Ramana Maharshi's doctrine of simultaneous creation (of I-thought and the World) is consistent with "Drishti Shristi Vada". Ramana's core teachings are also very much in line with Ajata Vada. Surprised to learn that the "Srishti-Drishti Vada", the common sense view that we see the world because it exists, is compatible with Advaita Vedanta and that this view is (sometimes) taken by Sankara and Vivekananda. Perhaps different theories on the creation of the World are offered by teachers to suit the capacity of the seeker. Wonder if the "Srishti-Drishti Vada" is helpful for the practice of non-duality. Look forward to reading Swamiji's translation of Advaita Makaranda. 🙏

Relieved to know that Srishti-Drishti vada is compatible with Advaita. I could never come to terms with the Drishti-Srishti argument.It was indeed a happy moment to know about the three possible stands you can take; and to go by what makes sense to each of us.Thanks swami🙏

🙏 well my question is matter is defined in science as volume and occupies space. E.g podium is made of wood matter. Are we not experiencing the wood matter. Matte is general term for anything experienced by our senses. Any comments??
@Octavus5
@Octavus5 5 жыл бұрын
You're experiencing an interpretation of "wood".
@Beginnerarttutorials
@Beginnerarttutorials 5 жыл бұрын
vedantic definition of matter is simply “idam/this” and so different from “aham/I” . If you go into the podium at an atomic level will it still be podium or even wood? Experience of wood matter - is it not due to our perception fro our location ( for what of better words...). To a child, or the bacilli, wood and podium are not known as such. Thus I feel forms and shapes are a learned experience by our minds.

With all due respect, I believe that you are operating upon the concept of spirituality which is absolutely wrong. Spiritual practices exist to felicitate us to think about what we are doing in life and what we are not. Its practical and before you talk about the Swamis of Sri Ramakrishna Math, I suggest you read the works of Vivekananda on practical Vedanta. With half knowledge, it is not right to comment upon the efforts these people make to ensure that we recognise our potential to do more? For God's sake- DO NOT generalize everything based on knowledge not yours. Even if you had read a page of Vivekananda, and read your comment again you would realise you are working at a different level. Thank you. Jai Ramakrishna. Anusha Hegde

This type of talk by swamis are meaningless. They talk about Advaita philosophy but they never talk against caste system in Hinduism or Hindu society. Same with the Sankaracharjya. He never could free himself from the binding of the heinous caste system.Even Swami Vivekanand did not tell anything directly against caste system
@Beginnerarttutorials
@Beginnerarttutorials 5 жыл бұрын
Bibhuti Mandal : discrimination based on caste and creed are terrible affliction and scourge of humanity. Hinduism is routinely blamed but all societies have higher, lower, royalty, celebrities etc and the treatment is different of how we perceive this. Vedanta postulates that the inner divinity is present in ALL (living, non-living) . Shankaracharya was a product of his tunes, but even he acknowledged his error in “Manisha Panchakam”. Vivekanand worked hardest to serve the most marginalised in india. He was vocal in his criticism of caste system. Regards.

there is no class/age/sex discrimination as per advaita. the caste system which you mention here was classified by man himself according to varnas- the duties and roles in post vedic period. Instead try to learn the works of jagadguru sankaracharya, he did for us within a short span of life 33 years, for humanity as a whole and show your reverence and gratitude

It's only "meaningless" to a "person" who can't see past "appearances"... That which appears will disappear. In other words appearances are all in the mind, even though a similar appearance is shared by all who can see (if it is visual). As for the caste system, we in the West, be it N. America or Europe, are in a manufactured consent caste system... It is formed through the "corporate oligarchies", USA included and perhaps foremost. No modern societies are free from caste systems... None of this matters anyway, it's basically make believe, like a dream, we Realize eventually.

Swami Vivekananda was the most outspoken about caste system and the oppression of women. Don’t talk about what Swamiji has or hasn’t done without knowing anything. Also these talks soothe the souls of many so who are you to call it useless? Also I’ll have you know that the Ramakrishna Mission works tirelessly for the poor and oppressed. So do your research before spouting your nonsense.
