⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥 The instrumental with the solos is 'Mischief of the Metal Gods'. It often precedes Su-metal's solo song 'Rondo of Nightmare', and has occasionally led into other songs. This was the Black Night at Budokan with Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars and Hideki Aoyama on drums. And of course BOH on bass. Not that many people play a six stringed bass to begin with, let alone tap one like that. Was pretty sure you would like that one. It's was already epic, and THEN Su rises up from beneath the stage. Lyrically this is probably their darkest song. It's about being trapped in a nightmare with no escape. Su was sixteen when she did that performance. She's only gotten better in the last six years. She performed three solo songs that night. Yui and Moa (as Black BABYMETAL) did two songs without Su. And of course they all did a bunch of songs together.

Was it a mistake to start with Gimme Chocolate - not necessarily, but it doesn't prepare you for anything else you will see from them and for the so many better songs (in my opinion at least) that they have. This is just one of Su's solo songs (2 on each of the first two albums) and Yui and Moa as 'Black BABYMETAL' also had two songs on each of the first two albums that they would perform as a duo while Su got a rest. This is just another way BABYMETAL mix things up and make every song they do different ... well maybe a couple of songs have similar styles to each other, but I defy you to find them easily or quickly. Budokan is a martial arts centre built for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and has since become a hugely prestigious venue for music concerts. The Beatles were the first to play there, BABYMETAL were the youngest female band to headline - and they sold out two nights running. Su was 16, Yui and Moa were 14. What is next? You've seen a Su solo now, how about Black BABYMETAL at the same show (Budokan Black Night) with 'Onedari Daisakusen'.

"Rondo of Nightmare" is a song about a girl trying to escape from... something. We don't really know what it is, and part of the song is that we never really find out. When Su-metal puts her head down and sings softly she's pleading with, whatever it is, to at least show itself before she perishes. As with all nightmares it never gets resolved. Su has two solos on each of the first two albums, where Moa and Yui have two duets each on the first two albums. This is certainly not "Gimme Chocolate"! That's one of the best things about BABYMETAL, that all of their songs are different, they blend so many different styles and genres. You could put 10 fans in a room and tell them to come up with a list of best songs and everyone will have a completely different list. Most bands are not like that, usually people agree on what their hits are. This is why BABYMETAL appeals to such a wide audience, from preteen girls to old school hardcore rockers in their 80s and everyone in between. I absolutely love that about this group.

They have so much in store for ya! The three girls are named Suzuka Nakamoto (aka Su-Metal), Yui Mizuno (you guessed it: Yui-Metal) and Moa Kikuchi (Moa-Metal).

"Gimme Chocolate" is a very important song to them. Not because of song itself, but the perfect hook to bring new fans. And bring them not only to BABYMETAL but to metal as well. P.S. Funny thing: the name "BABYMETAL" is very similar to japanese pronounciation of "heavy metal" (heby metaru - beby metaru), probably that was the original idea.

Stop comparing songs, you'd have to quote every previous ones as each song is different 😂 As others already said, yes this was a solo performance so that the other 2 can rest a bit. But those two also sing in duet without Su-metal so she can rest too (you were right about her - stage - name, Suzuka Nakamoto for the full one 😉)

As for why she was alone, they throw Su solos to get the other 2 girls a break, and they used to put up Yui and Moa on a few of their own songs as "Black Babymetal" to get Su a breakl. Next up I think is Ijime, Dame, Zettai live at Sonisphere 2014 because it's my 2nd favorite Babymetal song, has a great message, great dance, and helped cement their presense on a global stage with unfamiliar metalheads. Another great option is Headbanger live at Legend 1997. Both are fantastic songs.

I think this song actually shows how good Su is cause most people think that on "9:32" is playback but Su actually managed to make the echo sound by putting her nose close to the mic.

Probably not everyone is going to agree with me, but if you are looking at just a single song, in my opinion „Gimme Chocolate“ is closer to the essence of BABYMETAL than this song. Don’t get me wrong, I love „Rondo of Nightmare“, it might be my favourite song, but the carefree, happy and catchy tunes are pretty much a trademark of theirs, while songs like this one or „Road of Resistance“ are relatively light on the kawaii element and lean mostly to the Metal side. BABYMETAL wouldn‘t be BABYMETAL without songs like „Gimme Chocolate“. As I said, this is not supposed to be criticism at your words, I just hope you are ready for more of their more playful side. In the end it‘s the girls’ happy smiles that make all the difference.

People recommend Gimme Chocolate as a first song just to mess with you. It's a nice song, I love to listen to it, but as a band introduction it's not the best. Glad you listened to more, they've got many different sides to them
