It was the opening voice-over when Percy said that once a kid demigod knew what they were, it's easier for monsters to smell them. "Once you know who you are, they'll sense it too and they'll come for you."

I think people keep forgetting that it is established really early on that Percy has always seen decently well through the Mist and has been exposed to Greek Myth all his life. He's literally seen pegasi and armored rhinos since he was six or so years old. It does not shock me that when he is told of the magical world, he is only slightly surprised.

Oh and, about Percy's age, at the start of the show Percy said he is currently twelve years old, which was how old he was supposed to be in the first book. They aged up the characters in the movies because... *actually, I don't really remember why-*

Yeahhhh Uncle Rick was not happy with the age-up at all. He actually asked them 'not to sex up my characters' considering how it's aimed at teens and the whole drive for Annabeth and Percy is physical, rather than the true connection they have that develops throughout the books. I cannot wait to see the rest of this show omg

Once demigods know they're demigods, their scent gets stronger and they're more likely to be killed by monsters, By keeping Percy in the dark for so long, she kept him safe for as long as it was physically possible.

19:50 You're right. He really did a great job playing Percy. He embodies his personality so well, I convinced they shook the book and Walker just dropped out of it. From interviews, he said they spent 2 months just to film the minotaur scene and she's always wet during all that.

hat i just realized is how incredibly accurate their ADHD portrayal is, especially percy/walker. many reactors and commentators complained (not nearly as positively as you) about percy’s underwhelming response to everything. but ADHD also comes with emotional symptoms. when we are overloaded, many of us just shut down. we barely react because we can’t process, or are overprocessing. they really didntheir research even in later episodes with other things

2:19 Percy has dyslexia because he is a greek demi-god and therefore his brain is hardwired to read ancient greek instead of english.

The Percy Jackson book series is sooooo good man 😭 i wish i could read and experience all those books for the first time again. Definitely my favorite book series along with goosebumps. But u should definitely read the books if u ever have the chance!!!

Yeah I will say that this first episode kinda isn’t great. Ironically it’s almost TOO faithful to the books. But where in the book, the massive amount of exposition works because it’s gradual and you can read at your own pace, (plus Percy’s POV writing is really funny and full of personality), in the series it kinda just feels like a ton of exposition is dropped on you in honestly a kinda boring way.

The books were really important to me growing up, so when the first movies came out it was a huge let down. (I did still like them but they were way off from the source material it didn't feel like an adaption) With this series it feels more true to the source and i'm loving it!

To be honest, the movie did this section of the book way better. I don't remember Percy whining this much in the books. Yes, he's young, but our YA protagonists usually have good mental stability until someone dies. Or they think someone died

I honestly didn't find him whiny at all. I honestly feel for the kid, his life was just turned upside down and I actually believe he is handling things in a pretty mature way.
