The cartridge box plates were held on with two prongs that were stuck through the leather and then the prongs bent over. What cannot be determined from this image is whether it’s authentic or something a reenactor lost during an event.

He said his uncle "brought it back" from the Army. Yeah, okay. You put the set on the fuse, after it's installed on the shell and turn it to the time you want. When it fires, it starts clocking and so many seconds equals so many meters downrange. When the timer runs out... BOOM! Shrapnel on their heads; Hell, Hate and Discontent rains down.
