What It’s Like cutting Food With A Parrot & My Interaction to help kiwi talk

What it’s like to have a parrot when trying to prepare food in the kitchen. Kiwi the Indian ringneck parakeet loves food and he’s never too far when I’m preparing a meal. Because Indian ringnecks are such food driven birds, this helps a lot when training!
As I cut the watermelon I carry a conversation with Kiwi, asking questions, repeating myself and adding different phrases to help Widen his vocabulary.
The main thing that I do when training Kiwi is to be consistent, positive, reward him with treats and short training sessions!
These are just a few tips that work for myself and with my past parakeets when training them. I wanted to show my interaction with my blue chicken and a brief video of positivity and praising for good behaviour!

It is very apparent that you spend a lot of time with Kiwi and love him to pieces, as he does you. I am an animal lover and find it very heartwarming that you devote much of your time making sure Kiwi is happy and healthy. There are so many pets in this world that are neglected and just a novelty. This breaks my heart to no end. Thank you for being one of those special people that actually care about and love their pets as much as I do my own. God Bless

Agreed. I own an African Grey, and way too many people buy these precious creatures for their “What will it say?” appeal. When they realize these birds are far too intelligent to simply mimic what you program, or they get hormonal and wish to mate, they bring them back or-even worse-neglect/abuse them.

all pets, birds especially, sadly become like furniture or a decoration to a$$holes, and become very neglected, depressed, lonely or sickly etc, etc, etc the most tragic thing about it is that they'll live a VERY long life like that.... plus the a$$holes think that they're a showpiece, so won't surrender them. he can still have accidents but I just do never ending training to encourage to go on his cage :) and he gets delicious treats for it to!!!

I had a chicken named Kiwi. She just passed and I was heart broken. She was a amaericana mixed with a silkie. a couple months before that, he dad, the silkie, passed away, a couple days after my birthday. I'm still heart broken , but this makes me day. I love your channel and how well Kiwi and you are doing. 💙 Kiwi is a very pretty bird, too. I love his voice. this makes me smile. my mom loves your channel, as well. have a great day and night🙂

Very cool to see such a free animal. I think this is everyones goal if you're into exotics whether its a boa constrictor or a beautiful bird. The idea of free roam and choice is the ultimate keeper & animal experience. It fosters the strongest bond imo.

We have 5 parrots and I'm with them all the time. They do everything with me. Only sleep in their cages. Parrots only behave like kiwi does when the parent puts the effor into it. They won't magically learn. You have to give them a LOT of time and attention like you do to a kid.

He's so adorable and talks really well. We have a 5 year old African Grey that has about a 350 word vocabulary and can sing 16 songs, we also have a 2 year old Quaker parrot that is an absolute little turd, he gets into everything and talks and sings as well as the African Grey and we just aquired a Yellow Sun Conure, he is one smart little bird for only being 5 months old and already talking.....

I love that he can fly-- clipped wings are very sad. Almost as sad as birds that are neglected and kept in little cells their whole lives. I weep to even think of it, then the rage kicks in. It's a pleasure to see your little man be so stimulated and free, wonderful 💖. PS= The most curious thing is: how on earth you train a bird not to be incontinent? Most bird channels never talk about this but I'd find it fascinating to learn about how owners go about this part of their training.
