Who are Kara and Nate?!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment. We discovered the world of “travel hacking” & became obsessed. So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world. Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with this lifestyle and did everything we could to keep going. 4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time. Van life was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎

Can we just take a minute to appreciate that they didn’t split you guys up!? They were totally encouraging you to stay together as a couple even though you weren’t both flying first class. I LOVE that. Customer service is on point with Lufthansa!

I believe they only did that knowing they are gonna post this on KZfaq. My family and I traveled Lufthansa and 4/6 people flew business class (first wasn’t available on the flight) and they split us up and weren’t accommodating at all.

The flight attendant was probably so happy to have somebody that wasn’t an old Business man 😂 I was recently bumped to first class for the first time since I had multiple canceled flights, I was woefly under dressed and the flight attendant doted on me the whole time because every other person in first class was a businessman who put their seat back and fell right asleep. I was just shocked to be in first class the whole time😂😂

It just shows that even first class doesn't faze the 1%. If most of the people you saw just went to sleep, they didn't even appreciate the flight and the service they got. The elite truly have so much more than we think they do if they can be unaffected by the best seats on a plane

@@katematthews1771 When you travel for work a good night's sleep is what you appreciate most. Wine tasting is not something that would interest you since you want to be fresh and ready to go the next day. It also gets old very fast and the best place is home.

Hey, Lufthansa premium economy is almost the same as American Airlines business class in terms of comfort. So, it doesn't take much to beat US brands because they're so faarrr behind the times. I wonder if German business people flying on an airline like AA would secretly accuse them of schadenfreude...

I'm impressed that Kara managed to just get a little bit "tipsy" on that flight. 😊 The flight attendant kept serving huge amounts of red wine for her tasting. I am sure the flight attendants and your new BFF on the ground had a very enjoyable time at work that day. It's not many people that travel with your positive attitude and pleasant personalities. Keep it up. I love your videos.

Yes! She's been that way her whole life. I went to school with them and that's one thing that made her such a great cheerleader. She was a grade above me and we weren't in the same friend group but I knew who she was and she was always so happy and giggly. And idk if you've noticed but sometimes when she gets excited and walks..she looks like a noodle lol. Her body just gets all floppy. She's always done that too. Definitely what you see in the videos is actually how they are.

I've flow Lufthansa ever since we moved to the States from East Germany. Once the wall came down we were finally able to fly home annually to see family. As a child if my parents had to work I flew as an unaccompanied minor. (Always coach,I've never flown 1st class) I was always treated very well by Lufthansa staff. I once had a 6 hour layover in London. I've always dreamed of taking the walking tour through Olde London ending at the Tower of London. Staff got me set up in the 1st class lounge(again I was flying coach) let me choose a meal. Then one of the flight attendants who was based in London called my parents and requested permission to take me out of Heathrow and take me on the tour. My parents approved. I tried to pay for it and Lufthansa staff refused to allow me to pay. The tour was fantastic a child's dream come true. I received a map of the tour, an umbrella and t-shirt from the airlines, and photos taken by the tour company, and a ride back to the Airport

The first class air crew must have been having so much fun with Kara. She's so excited about everything. And treats the crew like they are real people and not "crew". Also, can't say the premium economy was terrible either

As someone who likes to snack on cheese, Nate's lunch looked decent with all that cheesy goodness streeeetching from the tray. In some cases, stretchy cheese is a good indicator of quality so it wasn't cheap crap bought off a Wal-mart shelf.

I was wondering, did Lufthansa have a code-share contract with Swiss International? I ask because I once made a connection flight from Frankfurt to Zurich in 2009. I was VERY confused. American Airlines did the ticket work. I was told to go to a Lufthansa counter to pick up the ticket! The ticket said Swiss International. When I got on the bus that took me to the plane, the crew were on the bus already and wore Lufthansa uniforms! Now I was 100% certain I was on the WRONG bus. But before I could ask, the bus pulled up to a cute little Airbus that said Swiss International on the side and the bus driver announced that the destination was Zurich. Most confusing day of travel I have ever experience!

It’s insane how over the top first class has gotten in the last 50 years. In the 1970s, as a student flying standby (on TWA?), I was bumped up to first class. In those days that meant being in the front of the plane and getting a slightly fancier meal, with a cloth napkin. I kind of remember there wasn’t even extra leg room, because back then EVERY seat had a lot of leg room.

@@pattykearns5932 Maybe not. Back then it was too expensive for most people to fly. It was something you did very rarely. Now there are SO MANY people flying that airports (and the skies) are ridiculously crowded. We need to somehow decrease demand, for the sake of the planet.

Wow, I can't wrap my mind around the excess of that level of luxury. It would be exciting to try at least, once. I worked for Frontier Airlines, years ago and occasionally, got bumped up to business class on Delta. Alcohol and comfortable seats made all the difference in the world! I've watched dozens if not over 100 First Class videos, but watching Kara thoroughly enjoy every moment of her FIRST first class experience is by far the most fun I've had watching a First Class video EVER! Okay. I just flew back from hawaii and got the cheapest flight and was asleep the whole time. Never saw the worth of first class but lufthansa has INSANE service and attentiveness is off the charts if i ever get the opportunity to fly out of one of the airports they’re in this is an experience I’m willing to pay for

Wow, after a little more than a year, I can now proudly say, that I catched up EVERY single video! Aaaaand I LOVED eyery single one of them! Thank you Kara and Nate for being so awesome. You can't imagine how you two changed my life. Not only will I start travelling this year but you also changed the way I think, how I see the world and have a completley changed mindset. Nate's first-class flight was a lot of fun to watch, but I'm sorry to say this one was hilarious. I laughed a lot and found Kara so entertaining. It's funny how I could relate when you keep thinking this is "the best," but this looked like a lot of fun. You guys are the best, and kudos to Nate for taking one for the team :-) Just going to say it, you did such a great job documenting (as always) that you guys should be pondered by the airline!

@@rileymartino8585 @Sehaj Sohao He's a bit right. Only those who fly so many miles and do advertising for the airlines get such cheap tickets. People who work in important, systemically relevant professions, like caregivers will never be able to afford such flights. It always sounds a bit jealous, don’t get me wrong, I like their travelvlogs, but you should still think about it. KZfaqrs are overpaid and overrated, and the airline's other customers have to pay the bill in this case. I've been watching the KZfaq scene for a long time. All successful youtubers have something in common: They are all very egocentric egomaniacs, which of course also gives them this success.

My favorite videos are ones that you show how viewers can do it themselves. When I flew to Georgia from Arizona, I made a special trip to Buc-ees. I brought back a lot of snacks for my students and showed them your video in the classroom while they ate. Your hike challenges have motivated me to do big hikes here in Arizona. I got my first credit card to acquire points and am still figuring out the best way to use them. Thanks for showing this teacher a minimalist way of traveling on a budget.

Agree love these two living their dreams. We can all have freedom like that it just takes an attitude shift for most of us. They've shown over the years it isn't always great but smiles return. Watching Kara on her first class experience was just exciting. Sorry Nate, I'm sure economy plus was great experience too, but I was grinning from ear to ear on how happy and enthusiastic she was on such an experience. Not to mention Lufthansa's concierge and flight crew service are just and always amazing.

Lol he flies that way often so he knows what it's like. But he was just saying that he was boarding the plane with everyone in first class who was going to a different spot and he was the only one having to walk to the back of the plane right then.

I used to work for continental airlines back in late ‘80’s- early’90’s Flew first class (free) every time I went overseas. Only way to travel international. Flew Lufthansa 1st class back in 1990. It looked nothing like that. How awesome! What an awesome experience! Especially the ride to the plane!

Lufthansa was definitely the best First Class experience we ever had and , yes, we used points. We’ve been in that very First Class lounge in Frankfurt. I must add, though, going waaaaaay back to the early 1980’s, Braniff had awesome First Class! Definitely the best way to fly overwater.

@@KaraandNate I really do enjoy mostly all your videos. I've watched your first video to the up to date one. However, for all the places you've been, the people you've met, the cultures you've experienced, you think you would have learned basic table manners. There is no nice way of saying it. Your manners are horrific!! Shoving food in your mouth, talking into the camera with a full mouth where we can see food rolling around, eating with your mouth open and even how you hold your cutlery. It's amazing 6 years later, that you have learned nothing about even basic table manners. Shame on you is all I can say. All the class of a click sandwich.

Back in the last century flying economy was very similar to that 1st class. Two seats in a row and no TV but great food, endless wine, large seats (that did not recline flat), and real flat wear. Now flying economy is like riding a bus was then.

That flight attendant was amazing. Lufthansa is always my first choice when flying from US to Europe. Once on a flight from Houston to Germany, the Lufthansa flight attendant asked me if I would move seats so a family could sit together. While I didn't get bumped to first, she did make sure I had a row all to myself. To this day, this was one of the best flights. I got to lay down across the row and sleep!

You brought back some great memories. Lufthansa was an amazing experience. In first class, I fell asleep during the meal, when I woke up, the flight attendant brought me a cheese platter and a glass of champagne. Great customer service.

I just had to say, I found you guys 6 years ago, your the reason I found out full time travel was even a thing. You guys made me dream of being able to travel full time, and I’m glad to say 6 years later… I am 5 weeks away from taking our RV across the country, and in 2023 we will start traveling in EU. 6:19 no, it's not just you, Lufthansa does put extra sound dimming in the walls around their first class section. It's so good I couldn't even tell we were flying when I was on their A380 first class a couple years back

Wow... This Ep was so nicely edited and put together, I actually felt like I am travelling with you guys! This is one of K&N style from back in the days!! Guess what, I travelled only twice on a plane, just for 45 mins (Bangalore-Chennai and Bangalore-Goa), we couldn't even get a chance to enjoy the flight!! It was like "Take-off.. Landing now".. Hehehehe..

Watching this video made me so happy. I felt like you did and I was only in business class upper deck on two recent Lufthansa 747 flights, they went way too fast and one was a 12 hour flight. Looks like you had an amazing experience with yet another great Lufthansa cabin crew.
