Respect to you for doing a military course and wanting to serve. For another small glimpse you could play certain specific military simulation computer games The ARMA computer games are the most realistic military simulation computer games ever made. A modified version of ARMA 3 called Virtual Battlespace 3 (VBS 3) is even used by many countries armies to help train their soldiers andrewbarron.net/projects/vbs3/ While other military games are just "run down hallways shooting enemies only 6 feet away", the ARMA computer games were designed from the ground up to realistically simulate modern day combat. You could also try the Close Combat or Combat Mission computer games. Close Combat is a military RTS game that showcases the real life importance of morale in keeping cohesion amongst battalions. If enough soldiers lose morale due to combat lose or battle fatigue then entire squads of soldiers will desert en mass or stop being effective. Combat Mission is a military RTS game that simulates the realistic physics of things like a specific type of artillery round hitting a building or a specific type of mortar hitting a specific make of tank or a specific type of bullet hitting a specific person's arm

The green berets we worked with were on the same part of the base as us. They had a chain link fence around their barracks building and the motor pool and ops center, but we were always around, (our barracks was right next door), we were the only ones allowed to be there. But as far as separate compounds that’s only on big bases like Bagram or Kandahar and what used to be the US shindand air base that we now only occupied a small compound. We occupied what used to be the separate special operations compound, camp Conde. But as far as separation, the only separation was between the medical, ADA, and other non mission personnel and then the special forces and us attached Infantry. Anything and anywhere only the SF could or would be, we were too. Everything outside the fenced areas around their ops center/motor pool and barracks was with everyone on base. Dining, medical, etc. Now only us and the SF were allowed outside the base unless escorted by us to the local Afghan base.

@Ordanborniv
@Ordanborniv 3 жыл бұрын
@@Usmc90805 it's a different beast now from 2012. It's the mindset most importantly. You have to want it and maintain a serious warrior's discipline. Stay humble, be honest, stay in shape, don't procrastinate, be loud and confident, study everything given, and be in the present moments. I washed out after a little while- and got re- classed into something else against my will. Then I hurt my back a year after that. Never got the chance to try again- and I was medically retired at 25. So practice and learn good dieting and physiological conditioning. Spend time decompressing your joints. I've found God's gift of gravity helps and a yoga block for the back. Strengthen your low back and glutes if they aren't strong now. And if you're not married- don't mess with the girls for a while. Mitigating distractions is key and necessary. I learned that too late also- but nor everyone is me. The experience made me partly who I am today, and I enjoyed my service overall. Mindset. I'd also throw in getting right with Jesus, and tackling this whole thing as an adventure of unknowns. Best wishes.

If you keep wrongly reporting this comment like a child for "offending" you I'll keep reposting it Everyone knows about the French Foreign Legion. In English speaking countries most call it the French Foreign Legion. It is not made up of people raised in France. It is made up of poor immigrants that want French citizenship. Saying the French Foreign Legions shows the strength of people raised in France is like saying the Gurkas showcase the strength of people raised in the U.K.

@@sicariijustiniani9566 with all due respect to the seals who have served and done great work for the country it just doesn’t really make much sense for a navy unit to have such a role in special operations on land, even river boat missions deep in land, thats for the marine corps. I’m not saying the seals mission set should not exist but ideally seals should have stayed UDT’s and scouts because you had marine force recon which was invented in 1957 after the marine raiders were disbanded before the seals were created in 1962. The creation of the seals was just branch politics, honestly there’s no need for so many different spec op units.

I was an LRO, but was lucky enough to have the chance to participate in cross-training programs. SERE school was probably the most in intense and fun thing I ever got to do, and I would do it again. The best part about my job was that I got to see a wide picture, from higher-ups to guys on the ground and even local forces. It really opened my eyes to how the everything fits together, and was lucky that my experiences transferred well to civilian life.

@@frostbitepokin9520 on paper, a green beret has a higher skill set. But it all comes down to what the units are created to do. While they do have some similar objectives, green berets also are trained to train other international forces among other goals, whereas rangers are specifically created to be a light heavy-hitting fighting force that specializes in almost exclusively direct action missions (iirc). It all comes down to what they are designed to do.

I'm a lifelong martial artist and training all the time is my nirvana but only with the safety net that I can do something else at the drop of a hat, pretty sure that's not the military and def not sf. My coworker is former navy (not sf) and I hound him everyday about military life because it's fascinating to me.
